    Often wonder how those professors read my exams
    maybe that's why I got lots of C and no A

    Oh well I finally did get the BSc , and now I just type everything.

    Abolish .com .org .net .biz etc
    And terminate .info and .name with a flame-thrower.

    Create .com.us .org.us .com.uk
    etc

    Have, for example, ibm.com map to ibm.com.us if you are in the .us and ibm.com.uk if you are in the uk etc......

    The only reason me need more TLDs is because we have only 1 .com for the whole world

    Make Pepsi register in every country they trade in.....

    I can see it now, in the year 2050 when we live on mars and Europa ... still saying "all the cool domains are taken."

    rsync , must try , of course cp -a spits an error on bad files and recoveres the rest, at work we recover from backup any file that has errors where we can and cp spits out I/O Error and a filename , so I know what's broken.

    During the Fujitsu Fiasco....
    I froze my HDDs when recovering data on a marginal drive, those drive had a heat expansion problem on their chips so freezing gave me a longer time to copy data to a new drive.

    I use Slackware install CDs to copy the data off

    1 Remove and chill HDD
    2 Install new HDD and format
    3 plug up old HDD on secondary Interface (sometime better as a slave does)
    4 boot Slackware CD (CD-ROM on primary)
    5 mkdir /mnt2 ; mount /dev/hda1 /mnt ;mount /dev/hd[cd]1 /mnt2 ; cd /mnt ; cp -a /mnt2/* .

    if the drive does nto respond at all at this stage
    try swappign drive PCBs over with one teh same model

    failing this PANIC !

    I get so sick of
    1. having to find the CD to play the game
    2. having the CD-ROM die because it's worn out by trying to read bad tracks over and over.
    3. Not being trusted by the company that I am a customer of.

    Lately I've only been playing ghost recon - because I have a no cd patch installed.

    I've given up buying games now..

    System Shock caused my right (mousing) forearm to swell and lock solid for a whole day ( I only played for 14 hours straight ....) come to think of it my neck didn't turn much either ....

    now my right forearm gets sore after excessive driving or mousing for a hour or so......

    Must be time to change the mouse to the left for 6 months again, shame that will play heck with counterstrike ...............

    1. Doesn't play in my PC , CD Player S/W keeps trying and destroys another Sony CD-ROM , better RA it back to SONY again (3 or 4 times a year).
    2. Try it in DVD player , DVD player sees a Data CD and fails to play WMP as it is not an mp3.

    yay no music.

    the rest of the modern world uses SI units.

    Nasa even triped over this problem making that expensive spat on Mars a while back.

    will the world will be IPv6 for 40 years before america catches up this time ?

    and this is off topic too ! why don't we somthing like "say gosh Microsoft's Once decent product is out (who did they buy it from again, looking glass ?) and gosh it looks sweet , shame I'd have to buy and install windows to use it !"

    Option 1
    Remember the Lyrics
    open google
    search for the lyrics - Find them on a Lyrics site - get the song's name and who sung it.
    open www.allmusic.com and find which album the song was on
    Buy the Album

    Option 2
    Kazaa

    those sites are a sales tool
    Don't these people want customers ?

    New Zealand changed to Decimal Currency ( Dollars and cents from Pounds etc ) back in 196?
    Back then the Bills were Different Colours and Sizes
    ( one Brown , Two Purple, Five Orange, Ten Blue, Twenty Green, Fifty Orange, Hundred Red )
    for someone like me who didn't see lots of 100s or 50s it was easy tell everythign but those two apart
    the 1 was the smallest bill the 100 the bigest,
    this mean that bleachign a $1 you can't reprint it into anything else.

    NZ recently (ie in the last 10 years) Changed to Plastic Money with See-through Windows in the same sizes and colours

    you still can't Print plastic with seethrough windows on your inkjet printers.

    I wonder to myself how much the company that makes the textile/paper for the Greenback pays in donations to political parties.

    switching would mean only Large organisations / countries could counterfiet , and there is nothing stopping them doing that now anyway.
