The catch is just because you are removed from one list, doesn't mean you are removed from all. If the dialer has your number associated with different campaigns, then saying "Take me off your list" won't get you removed from the other campaigns. To get removed from all campaigns, you have to say something to the effect of "Do not call me again" or "Remove me from all of your lists." Remember, most places contract out telemarketing, so one company is running a lot of different products. By doing the latter, you will fall off more lists faster.
Yes, but you have to specifically set that. The default is Medium-High I think. So if you set it to low, whether you know what you are doing or not, then you deserve what you get.
There is no reason to code it yourself, but there is no reason to buy it. There are plenty of sites out there that give dhtml menus away for free, with up-to-date browser compatibility.
But, because I am a webdev, I hope they keep getting me to code it myself. Got to put food on the table somehow!
Some of us are stuck with it. I know that in the Federal Government, at least where I work, we are "required" to use Netscape 4.7 for email and browsing. Of course, they let some of us IE users slide by, but for the most part Netscape is what people use.
You want the Netscape 4.x series to go away? Write your Senator and get them to pass a bill to make all of the major departments upgrade to something...anything else. Please!
I am a developer, and while NS4.x is awful to code in, I have found that 99% of the time, IE6, NS6 and Opera6 render my pages identical. If you are really having that much trouble with NS6 you might want to rewview your code quality.
Rushing out the door will NOT recover any market share, it is far too late for that unless AOL/others plan to show us why everyone *must* use Mozilla/Netscape 6.x. instead of IE
Rushing it out the door WILL recover market share. The fact is that once AOL dumps IE and uses mozilla for its platform, you suddenly have 15 million users who are no longer reporting to your web stats as IE. IEs share immediately plummets probably to something close to 60%, and if this thing reports as "Netscape" then NS is back up near 40%. And those numbers are conservative.
Aren't you being a little sensitive? I am a musician, and I thought it was pretty funny.
I have found that most of my musician friends know a lot of musician jokes, and think they are funny. And they tell them more often than non-musicians.
Perhaps you should reflect on your over reaction to a good natured jab.
The first time I really realized that the Internet had really become a big part of my life, was when my ISP disconnected me fore a few hours. I couldn't do anything! I just sat around wondering how to continue.
Its quite simple. Go outside. Its amazing how a little reality will quickly break your addiction.
Actually, MS already has a crappy version of this, though it isn't really tabbed browsing per se, and it only works in xp, and it sucks.
but aside from that, if you open up 3 or more IE's (or anything else for that matter) Windows will group them into one task bar item. Clicking on the task bar brings up a menu to let you choose which window you want to bring up.
This means they've had plenty of time to virtually wipe out Netscape...
I have said this before, I will say it again. The only thing keeping Netscape "wiped out" is their parent company AOL. Of the 90+% of the browsers that are reporting as IE something, fully have of those (45%) are the IE that AOL uses. The moment AOL finally brings Netscape into play in AOL software is the day when you see IE's share of the browsers drop, possibly even below 50%.
How do you know they won't? Maybe they are waiting for that area to settle on something concrete before they move over. Look before they jump. Sort of the opposite of what the slashdot crowd does when posting.
I see this is going to be something I am commenting on quite a bit today...
Flash MX now has anchors in the movies which allow you to use your back and forward buttins IN THE MOVIE. You can also bookmark a particular part of a movie.
The source code for the player is available for quite a while. As for non-Macromeida vendors developing Flash programs, Adobe has one, and there is also a little program called Swish that allows you to put together Flash animations very quickly.
Its easy, just click on whatever it is, go to the accessiblity option, and add some text. This is a new feature in Flash MX, but one that was sorely needed. I am glad they didn't skim over it.
When you pay for a magazine, you are paying for not only the content, but the physical media as well. 12 issues for $12 or something. So if you don't get an issue, you are now paying $12 for 11 issues. So there is a reason to bitch.
With this system, you are paying $5 for 1000 pages. So if you have 400 pages left and slashdot goes down for the weekend, when they come back up you still have 400 pages left. You aren't out anything at all. And since they were down anyway, you haven't missed any content either.
And by the way, I don't think there is ever a time when someone needs slashdot.
Flash is far from worthless. Flash can create cleaner navigation (rollover highlighting, foldout menus) than any js/dhtml out there. And Flash is always a smaller file than any animated gif. And lastly, when in the hands of a professional web designer that knows what he is doing, it can be a great replacement for html.
Flash has been abused in the same way html has, but Flash has gotten a bad wrap because of it. What do you do when you come across a site that has a lot of blinking animated gifs and some awful midi behind it? You close it down, because it sucks. But you don't blame html, you blame the person who coded it? Now take a similar site built in Flash. Just as suck, and you close it down just as fast, but this time, you blame the program.
As I said above, in the right hands, Flash is a great tool. I encourage you to stop off at some of the better community sites (www.flashkit.com, www.ultrashock.com) and check out not only those sites but some they link to. And I hope that once you see what Flash can do when not in the hands of a 5th grader, you will consider changing your opinion.
If you want to get technical, the even symphonies are classical and the odd symphonies are romantic. B tends to get lumped in with the classical composers, but most people with any knowledge on the subject won't put him in either. He was the transition.
So we should embrace the policy of the way Wal-Mart cencors music that it finds offensive? I didn't realize censorship was part of the Open Source movement.

I saw one of these things, and I heard it saying this very softly to itself:
"I am the pusher robot.
I am here to protect you.
I am here to protect you from the terrible secret of space."
Probably nothing to worry about...at least not until the percentage of people falling down the stairs at these hospitals suddenly increases.

Why is it Macromedia's responsibility? Adobe has a devleopment program for Flash, so maybe they should port.

which are horribly ugly colors. which is just one reason why carolina is better. GO COCKS!
its not every day that you see a carolina fan sees a clemson fan post on slashdot...couldn't pass up the opportunity.
works for me just fine.

I submitted this story a week ago, and it was rejected!
