You can do fun stuff with that. Why limit yourselves to empty envelopes or envelopes with their own stuff. Get creative! A real runny sauce, packaging penuts, or even a brick are great ways to mess with those envelopes.

Seriously though, I had a friend who wrote his name and address on a piece of paper and wrote something like "Please remove me from all of your solicitation lists" and sent them to the company using their envelopes. It seems to have worked.

Just a thought. The reason AOL dominates the IM market is because they include it with the AOL client. Sure, they will allow their users to use different services, but those clients aren't provided nor mentioned. So the "15 million" people who use AOL just default to AIM.

Maybe I am mixing something up, but isn't this exactly what everyone is rattling the cage about with Microsoft? Microsoft forces IE down Windows users' throats by bundling it with the browser, and barely, or even not, mentioning other browser options.

Someone please explain how these two things are different.

  9. AOL is completely retarded on AOL Time Warner Files Anti-Trust Suit against MS · · Score: 1

Did it not occur to them (and Microsoft will be smart to point this out) that the AOL Browser is built off of IE. The reason IE is so dominate is because most AOL users show up as IE. As soon as AOL switches over to Netscape, IE will see its 80%+ share of the browser market evaporate.

Ah, I just realized it isn't stupid of them. Try and destroy Microsoft by inflating the browser numbers, then, once that is done, switch over to Netscape. Very clever.

If there ever was a doubt in your mind that AOL isn't the most evil of them all, this should remedy that for you.

i think what katz was getting at in a round about way is that you have to appeal to the middle of the market, a la politics. the person who wins elections nationwide is not the person who is a way right republican or a way left democrat. its the person who can appeal to the moderates and centrists. that is who wins elections, and that is what katz is getting at. *nix is way right, mac is way left, and pc/windows is sitting right in the middle, a little of both to make the average consumer happy.

This doesn't mean that anyone with Carpel Tunnel can't be considered covered under the ADA, it means this specific case. Get a bad enough case where you can't open doors or some such, and the ADA would apply.

  14. Re:Remember all that junk about Eagle Scouts? on Fast Track to a CS Degree? · · Score: 1

I do not have a degree. But I did go to college for five years, where I majored in Music Education and aquired about 130 hours. My GPA wasn't the greatest, but it was there. I didn't graduate because I had decided to move into computers, and, upon getting a great job with a lot of future, I didn't think it would be smart to quit so I could student teach. If I go by what you are saying, then I am good. I have, by all accounts, finished a long term goal.

But you know what? It doesn't matter, because all the management I have ever been under only sees one thing...that I don't have a piece of paper saying I graduated. I tell them upfront "I did not graduate, but I completed approximately 130 hours of course work at a major university." And we won't get in to the fact that I have demonstrated ability, have great experience at previous places, and have never once missed a deadline (I usually beat the deadline by a week or more). None of that matters, because, in the end, it is all about the paper.
