good point! that's one of the most hypocritical aspects of it. spend hours on the computer and you are a threat to society. spend half of the day in front of the tv and you are just normal. sucks!
surfing, mailing and gameing almost eliminated my tv-time. i just can't stand the shit anymore, that you have to wade through to find something interesting. i couldn't believe it when i was younger, but too much tv makes you stupid. try and pay attention to all the obvious tricks and lies during commercials and news. it's hilarious. and always good for a laugh.

if you are fluent in german, try this. maybe your babelfish will help, or someone wants to waste some time and provides a translation..?
but can you imagine, that in my country they sometimes go and write '(2*10^1+3*10^0)*(1*10^1+1*10^0)=(2*10^2+5*10^1+3* 10^0)' instead of '23 * 11 = 253' ???
It didn't make me want to rush out and get Cryptonomicon, which I've never bothered to read.
big mistake. you can't read one of stephenson's novels and conclude, that you won't like the other ones. his writing and storytelling varies big time from book to book.
how did you like diamond age? this was my entry into neal's works.
What is the point of a library full of books that you've already read? -- Voltaire Magores
to serve as a reference? to read them again after a few years? to give them to your kids with the intention to establish a moral system similar to your own? to show off?
but maybe i'm talking to the wrong guy. give me the email adress of this... this... voltaire, will you?
when you read "the big u" (by neal stephenson) you will observe that there is plenty of opportunity to start an enterprise with mixing books in university libraries!
there were some clever folks, taking important textbooks to completely irrelevant positions in the million+ book collection, carefully noting its new place and selling it to the highest bidder!;)
Imagine mcdonald wanting to be a better franchise and hired annoying teenagers to cause problems in and outside the restaurant to see how they can improve.
cut the improvement part and you'll see: it already happens!
can't remember when the last time was, a mcdonalds employee got my order right the first time...
Hacking is an all through positive phrase. It says more about what has been done than 'programming', because it is highlighting the aspect of altering or using an existing system in an unconventional way. (Hmm, is that clear?)
I highly appreciate their usage of the term 'hack'. But, since it's BusinessWeek, maybe it was just a blind hit.
"Although plasma includes electrons and ions and conducts electricity, it is macroscopically neutral: in measurable quantities, the number of electrons and ions are equal. The charged particles are affected by electric and magnetic fields applied to the plasma, and the motions of the particles in the plasma generate fields and electric currents from within. This complex set of interactions makes plasma a unique, fascinating, and complex state of matter."
you can see Blaze's white underwear when performing a jump kick to the side - no bright whites in the US version it seems
yeah, that white underwear looks way better than that weird brown g-string-panty-thingy she wears in the us version. it's made out of some strange curly fabric with a pink stripe in the middle, right??
use it and enforce it like punctuation and don't give us all a hard time reading your "wordstream" it is so hard to comprehend i really don't want to whine but this is just to much...;-)

stupidity is a human characteristic, that requires a higher mode of not thinking...
