Zoid works at Valve, too, but that doesn't make me think they're going to make Threewave CTF any time soon.:P
It seems like it'd be a lot of work for basically no benefit. Anyone looking to run a Source engine game on Linux is going to make sure their 3D accelerator card is functioning first, the same way a Windows or Mac user would.
The first half of the first season was pretty painful, but it's improved a lot. Still not up to the quality of the UK one, but it's at least relatively enjoyable to watch. Better than most of the shit on TV, at least.
I meant the episode of MXC they filmed in the U.S. at Universal Orlando. It was pretty terrible. I only even used the Takeshi's Castle name because offhand I couldn't remember the name of the American show without looking it up.
What's wrong is that the original audience was a niche audience and not a mass market audience. They liked it for its bizarre quirks as much as its content (perhaps more so). The bizarre quirks were smoothed over in favor of mass market appeal (because why would they spend all this money to produce a show for a niche audience rather than the more lucrative mass market?) and this alienated the original audience, surprising no one with half a brain.
This same thing happened with Iron Chef and Takeshi's Castle. Fans of the original simply should not have gotten their hopes up.
Compared to everything else that was on during the afternoon cartoon slot, that show was basically a masterpiece. Compared to the comic stories of the time it probably doesn't stand out so much.
He's pretty clearly not talking about the concept of Robin in general, but specifically the move titled Batman and Robin which was as much of a campy, shitty, pile of garbage that everyone laughed at as the 60s TV show was that the producer claimed to have hated.
I dunno man, of the countries I wouldn't trust to do nuclear power safely, China is pretty high up on the list. They have a pretty substantial history of shoddy workmanship primarily due to corruption and graft. I'd rather they take their time and implement it correctly, and make sure they're not selling asbestos powder as baby formula and shit.
The summary doesn't make it totally clear that people would prefer the Hulk rescue them from aliens, not just rescue them in general. It's an important distinction because for the general case, you don't want to have to rely on the Hulk to save you from ANYTHING, because he'll likely destroy all of your property and probably accidentally (or purposefully!) kill you in the process.
Additionally, where's Superman, our home grown invincible alien immigrant, in all this? Has he really fallen so far in public consciousness?
our economy is in ruins thanks to fighting two unnecessary wars based on our President deciding to finish what his daddy started rather than leave well enough alone,
Wow, who would have thought Israel had an identical recent history to the USA? I guess I just don't know as much about world news as I thought I did.
This is the worst analogy I've ever seen. No one would ever want worse MPG (without some other significant gain/tradeoff). It's entirely an empirical measurement with zero downsides (on its own). Story telling, however, is entirely subjective, and 3D and higher frame rates can give subjective enhancements to the film. And both of which can be completely ignored by film makers who don't feel the need to use those tools (just like color, sound, post processing effects, computer generated effects, blue/green screens, etc.). 48 fps digital projectors can easily project 24 fps movies (or 12 fps, or 6 fps, if that's what the film maker thinks will give the effect he wants in his movie).
I watched it in 2D and I guarantee you those scenes were appropriately creepy as fuck in 2D. If anything, 3D probably would have distracted me from their creepiness.
That "bug" was just a rumor started by some streamers and people who photoshopped images of them having a ton of gold. They were trying to get people afraid of using the auction house so they could get some low bids on items that would expire during Tuesday's downtime. It was a scam. Yes you can cancel your auction when you shouldn't be able to (because they stupidly made the check for when it could be canceled client side only), but upon canceling the auction the bidders always get their gold back and the person canceling the auction just gets the item, no gold. You know, exactly how one would expect it to work.
Competitive gamer != serious gamer. There's an intersect, but they are not identical. If I'm playing a single player game and I put all this fucking money into my hardware, I'm not going to fucking turn off shadows just so I can move from 60 fps to 65 fps. If it's a multiplayer online game and toggling that down can confer a strategic advantage, sure, but what part of this game and its description makes you think it will even have a multiplayer component? And even if it does, why the fuck would I lower my graphics settings when NOT playing in the multiplayer mode?
Quoting the article because so far no one actually followed the link and read it (as usual).
Disclaimer: This post is for fun, don’t take it too seriously, but the questions are still valid. This post is a personal post of one of the Lab members and does not reflect the view of any organization.
No. It's an example of researchers making assumptions and not understanding how a piece of consumer hardware is actually used by consumers. From the paper:
Unfortunately, neither Nielsen nor any other available source measures how often console users leave their system in idle mode when they are not actively used. As this information is necessary to calculate total energy consumption, we assume that 30 % of users leave their console idle when not in use, with the remainder putting their console into standby mode.
This is pretty much a bullshit assumption, and they freely admit it literally is based on nothing.
Sounds like someone who doesn't own a PS3. If you have more than one controller, as long as you're not using all of them simultaneously, they charge fast enough that you can just leave one plugged in while you play with another, and the other controller will be fully charged in a "normal" length play session (about an hour or so). So if the one you're currently using gets low or dies, just swap them out. The only way you could possibly feel the need to let them charge while the console was idle is if you just had an extremely long play session (like 6 hrs) using all controllers you own simultaneously. Worst case scenario? Someone gets the low charge controller and has to sit closer to the TV (or not depending on your room layout and length of USB cable). That's it. Nothing about the console encourages you to leave it idle to charge controllers unless you're an idiot or only own exactly one controller (and then you can just play with the USB cable connected part of the time).

Why do you think they would make a software renderer for Source?

Some people have no sense of humor.
It's called a compass. It's been in use for like 1000 years.

Fishsticks.

They've publicly stated they announce there release dates about 60 days ahead of time. It'd be pretty tight at this point to match that date.

Of course not. HBO would make far less money that way. Remember they're extorting the cable companies, too, not just consumers.

Um, the people who waited seven years to buy an Xbox 360 are in no danger of buying a PS4 within the next 2 years.
