We don't have Exchange either, so that's not what's tying us to Outlook. What *is* tying us to Outlook is the damn built-in calendar. Users want to be able to create calendar events and mail them to other users. Mozilla Calendar (and sunbird, whatever..) can't do that. It's frustrating, because that is the *last thing* we need to overcome in order to get rid of Outlook. So close, yet so far.. *sigh*
We've called them twice and have never been on hold longer than 5 minutes. We have had our Vonage service for almost 2 years now and have been completely satisfied with it. And even better, they lowered the price.. twice!:-D
"Hey, Netscape 7.2 has this nice calendar application built in. IE doesn't. Neat!"
Want more corporate users? FIX CALENDAR!
I've said this before, and if I was a programmer, I'd be working on it.
If Mozilla/Netscape had a triumphant calendar, many more people would switch away from Outlook. Lack of a decent calendar is the main thing that's prevented us from ridding our company of Outlook.
No, the existing one just doesn't cut it. Example: Right click an event and choose "email event" - when the recipient gets it, it's an.ics file - if a Mac user gets it, iCal will open it. The big problem is that Mozilla has no idea what to do with the.ics file, rather than show you the text in a browser window.
Silly stuff like this is holding it back.
I knew people ages ago that stuck with Netscape because of Netscape Calendar & its Palm sync. Now they're all stuck with Microsoft Outlook, but would happily change...
"Now, for all we know, Area 51 still could be an advanced aircraft development center. If they retired the SR-71 (also a Skunk Works Project) and allowed the F-117 to become public before it was absolutely neccessary, then what do they have that they aren't talking about?"
Oh, that's easy. Whatever it is is REALLY EXPENSIVE and a huge waste of tax dollars. The public outcry would be uncomprehensible.:)
Every time a patent article comes up, we see all of this hoopla about prior art.
Tell me, have any of these absurd tech patents been overturned because prior art existed? Or are we all just waving our arms in the air saying "Oh, we had that before!" and then doing nothing?
It doesn't matter if prior art existed if absolutely nothing gets done about it. Sure, in the/. mind, it invalidates the patent but the mega-corp *still has the patent*
I suppose that it's difficult to keep an accurate map. It's quite possible that a lot of the "default" SSIDs changed as soon as the owners read the FM.:)
I found an access point that used to be here where I work on that list. Its SSID changed *ages* ago. A lot of the information on there seems to be a few years old - stuff changes quickly these days.
Just call one of the companies that shuttled tech support off to India. I've gotten a rather interesting collection of blatently incorrect answers from such tech agents.
I had to explain to one that no, "AGP" did *not* mean "Apple Graphics Port" and was *not* proprietary to Apple. I wasn't even calling Apple, either - they kept support in the USA.

Mozilla Calendar is severely lacking in basic features. Thunderbird needs a triumphant calendaring app.
Outlook has "notes" - people tie themselves to notes. Outlook has "calendar" - even more people rely on that.
I can NOT get people off of Outlook here because of those 2 things. Calendar is weak, and nothing to replace the "Notes."
Calendaring is by far the most important thing, tho. Netscape used to have the bad ass cross platform calendar app with Netscape Calendar Server running it all. What happened to that? Have we just rolled over and let Exchange take it over? Blah.
The Mozilla people need to scrap everything and start busting ass on *Calendar apps* - not sidebar music apps.
Sorry, I'm just frustrated because Mozilla Calendar really does lack basic features that users have come to expect from Outlook's calendar (even without Exchange)
"Security through Stupidity" - make sure your network is SO screwed up that even if someone did infiltrate it, they wouldn't be able to do a damn thing. Then they'd get frustrated and leave.
US Bank not only didn't notify me, but they refused to give me an exact payoff amount. I have the copies & receipts for 4 certified letters still at home. I even talked to a manager that said even if I did pay off the money that was allegedly owed, they would NOT remove me from ChexSystems. It was their policy. Ugh.
I threatened them with legal action and 4 months before the 5yrs was up, I was mysteriously removed from ChexSystems. It royally sucked.. the whole ordeal.
How about having a bank not only freeze your account, but bar you from getting an account for FIVE YEARS?
Yes, it's called "ChexSystems" - a private company. US Bank will throw you into ChexSystems for very minor mistakes, even if you pay them off. I closed my US Bank account years ago, but a check for $20 went through after it was closed. US Bank did nothing to notify me. No letter, nothing. Finding a bank that does not use ChexSystems is next to impossible.
That sucks far worse than PayPal, to say the least.
Every senior citizen that I know is capable of playing 12 Bingo cards at once. Here's how we solve the issue once and for all - give them a ballot that looks like a Bingo card and a big Bingo blotter. Problem solved!
I have *rarely* seen the iTunes caps - FAR more often, I saw NCAA "Final Four" promo caps or some other sports stuff. Very rare to see the iTunes caps. Whenever I did see a bunch of them, I made sure I selected the winning ones and redeemed them. I hate Pepsi and I still managed to guzzle down at least 15 bottles.
Pepsi had way more "sport theme" contest caps out in the wild than iTunes caps, at least around here.
I also drank a few more Slurpees, too. Really easy to peel back the cup edge to see if you're a winner before you even pour the Slurpee.:P
Of course iTunes 4.5 will play the file that you de-DRM'd previously.
But playfair/FairTunes do *NOT* work now. I just tried to de-DRM a file I bought from iTMS, and guess what? Now it errors out, telling me that this computer isn't authorized to play the file. I can still play the file in iTunes, but I can't de-DRM it with FairTunes.
Um, I had a friend that registered a domain through Godaddy. He got joe-jobbed. Godaddy cancelled his domain registration. No warning, nothing.. they just changed the DNS records to point back to themselves.
Yes, registrars *do* cancel domains. Dotster has a "report spammer" link on their website as well. They will also investigate & cancel domains that are just used for spam.

Corporate users can barely grok "Mozilla" but they certainly understand "Oh, no functional calendar? I'll just stay on Outlook..."

PayPal isn't a bank, #1.

Just like when MTV was playing the same stuff on Headbanger's Ball, 120 Minutes, Alternative Nation...
TechTV has 3 anime shows that show up quite often. I will miss "Call for Help" as it was sometimes an informative & fun show.
Also notice that TechLive is not on the list of shows. That was one of my favorites.
"The Tech Of.." is gone, but "Robot Wars" stays?
I knew Comcast was going to screw everything up.
These guides have been out for a long time - they are usually called "Service Source"
I have piles of the old Service Source CDs that have take-apart guides for nearly everything that Apple has ever made.
Nothing new here, move along..
They also had the NASRaQ appliance, which was similar to this.
I wish Sun didn't kill off the Cobalt stuff. I wish Sun never bought them *sigh*
Remember Joel Klecker? (espy) - the Debian developer?
http://www.espy.org/
IIRC, his parents are keeping his webserver & stuff online for as long as they can.

..but dude, your sodium level will be higher than that of the Red Sea in a matter of months. :P
I guess you can dilute it with some Pabst Blue Ribbon, tho.
What a great way to display Nagios status messages!
C'mon, boss.. please? Since you said no to the plasma display, you owe me!
