I've always seen Yahoo and Google as two different tools.
Yahoo to me is more of a catalog, when I know specifically what type of stuff im looking for, I can find a list of sites.
Google, I put in some keywords and it pulls up pages it thinks are relevant.
For *my* (not necessarily everyone's) purposes, Google is more useful, but Yahoo is still good and a great site. Aside from toning down the obnoxious ads, I think it doesnt need to change much.
At this rate, in a few more years such technology will be so common that you'll be able to buy real working dick tracy watches from the gumball machine!
Dude you could buy AT LEAST five palm pilots for what the Newton 2000/2100 would have cost you.
I managed to con my employer way back when to buy some Newton 120s right when they were released in late 1995. They were $1k a piece. My first Palm (the 1000... bought in early '97) cost $200.
Having munged addresses where the "NOSPAM" is in the user part rather than in the domain part (that is, "bozoNOSPAM@isp.net" instead of "bozo@NOSPAMisp.net"), so your servers get hammered with invalid harvested addresses.
Fucking slashdot causes me to get like 100 spams a week sent to "munged" addresses like billCOLA@domain.com (where "domain" is my real domain)

A full Usenet feed topped 500 gigabytes in 2002, a mind-boggling size circa 1979, and the leviathan keeps growing.
Back in 1989 or 1990 or so, I read in one of the car mags (I subscribed to several, so it was either Road & Track, Car & Driver, Autoweek or Automobile) of one of Chrysler's then-latest concept cars.
It was a 99% recyclable car called the Neon, which lo and behold was released upon the world four years later. Does anyone know how much of that held true about the recyclability (is that a word?) of this car?
So what does it run if not an x86 processor? :)

Tried your phone number in Google [google.com] lately?
(in USA use format nnn-nnn-nnnn)
Yes. And about 20 other phone numbers, and nothing. ?

You cant divide by zero! (note the bold below :)
siri
=-=-
a=1, b=1
a=b
a*a=a*b
a^2=ab
a^2-b^2=ab-b^2
(a+b)(a-b)=b(a-b)
(a+b)=b
1+1=1
2=1

The Creative Webcam II USB.
Creative can't be bothered to write Win2K or XP drivers for this nice USB camera. Pisses me off.
It works fine under Linux though.
Used CD shops seem to be doing pretty well.
Whetever happened with regards to this? Did legal action follow? This is the funniest thing I've read all week, even if its a bit dated now.

If you are still running NT4, you probably are too busy (or lazy) to update security patches anyway.
NT4 needs to DIE. If you prefer the Windows platform, you've had ample time to move to 2K, or else another platform.

In the United States, it is a FEDERAL CRIME for a telemarketer to call your cell phone. Your number being "listed" does nothing to change that.
This is a "non-issue", at least with regards to telemarketing....

I am one of those people who has all mail for a domain delivered to him.
slashdot's fucking worthless email munger changed my email to username-COLA@domain.com
Real fucking smart. Bastards.
So I turned it off completely.
Cheap "funny" or "insightful" Karma. Good thing no one has modded him up though. :)

How much of that is spam?
siri
They have something that can do all of that for you.
1) You can send a bounce message back to the spammer.
2) You can blacklist the spammer
3) Caught spam doesnt get deleted, but automatically put into a quarantine folder.
It even keeps "spam definitions" which it updates periodically much like virus software. Its very nice.
Its a $$ product, but worth it, its called Spam Inspector and you can get it from http://www.giantcompany.com

You just made my morning. :)
Yeah but I doubt they post much considering how much of a pure flame-fest those two groups are. :(

The words "Get" "A" and "life" come to mind! :)

Of all the things to have a website about....
Well, who am I kidding, mine's about as useful....
Which exit?
Its "I like my coffee like i like my women... black and strong!"
