If Kerry was President, we'd ALL have Purple Hearts!
Paper cut? PURPLE HEART!
Stepped on Legos in bare feet? PURPLE HEART!
Leg cramp while getting some from your girlfriend? Purple Heart AND a Distinguished Service Cross!
Did I vote for Bush? Yes. Why? Because, considering the available choices, he was the only one I could actually stomach to say I voted for. Kerry is merely a Clinton clone that couldn't dodge the draft.
If they'd put half the effort into actually making quality films as they do with these worthless lawsuits, I'd gladly pay $30 for theatre admission and snacks for my girlfriend and I. Until then, I'm paying what it's worth to see these movies.
Without piracy, it's doubtful ANYBODY saw Stealth or The Island. Even for free, I couldn't sit through all of Stealth.
Jews are boycotting The Bible and any books about Nazi Germany, because it portrays their oppression at the hands of others.
If it's portrayed incorrectly, then they've got a genuine grievance. If the game portrays it in a historically correct fashion, then they should be using the game as a teaching tool, rather than burying their heads in the sand and hoping it goes away.
There's also a 5% state sales tax, but it's a short ride to "tax free New Hampshire", so that's generally not a problem.
Always nice to see New Hampshire is still living by it's motto "Live Free or Die". It still does sound like a threat, though.
Will the US get second season episodes around the same time they're broadcast in the UK (and the rest of the world)?
At least now there's something to watch while we're waiting for Battlestar Galactica at 10pm. OK, something more watchable than that dreck Stargate series they now run at 9pm. Now, put something decent on at 8pm, and you've got me solid from 7 (Firefly) through the end of BSG.
But it'll limit it's potential audiences. Most theatres have a policy of not showing NC-17 movies. Blockbuster won't carry NC-17 or "unrated" versions of movies. It'll gain some interest in movie geeks, but interest will be lost to the casual movie fan, especially if he can't pick it up along with his dry cleaning and a bucket of KFC.
The filmmakers made a mistake of having such content in, forcing the MPAA to give such a rating. If they had limited such content, and the MPAA still gave such a rating, then there would be a stronger case for calling it a conspiracy.
We'll just have to wait and see what this "explicit sexual content" is and if it's worth such a rating.
Granted, Kevin Smith's "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" had to cut a scene with some pretty nasty descriptions of sex out before it could get an R. I don't even think "The Aristocrats" tried to get a rating, and you can't get much more nasty without actually showing the acts.
But, we're geeks. We can talk to women on the internet, and it doesn't make a difference what we wear. In fact, I've been talking with this hot 18 year old cheerleader that wants to meet me in a darkened hotel room this weekend.
I'm just curious how many scientists have looked at the possibility that the earth warms and cools in cycles, and there's really not anything we can do to affect it, or stop it.
Powerbook x86 (15 or 17inch, haven't decided)
Craploads of RAM and HD space
Running the latest version of OSX
Running any version of Windows and Linux in VM spaces
Just reduced my development test machines from four to one
I've currently got six separate machines. My main development box (Suse 9.3), my game box (WinXP), and my four test machines for compatability testing ( WinXP, Win2k on cheap beige boxen, Suse9.3 on a decent IBM Thinkpad, OSX on a MacMini ). Reduce my test machines down to one machine that's also my portable. Lowers my power bill, more desk space, and a portable I can do ANYTHING on (from development, to BF2/Civ4)
Raiders was only re-titled on the cover in the box set, I guess so it looked better next to Temple of Doom and Last Crusade. In the actual movie, it still only says "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
I was a Mac user for a long time, only switching to Windows for financial reasons (cheaper to build a cheap PC than buy a cheap Mac).
I tried Linux off and on the past few years, finally moving to Linux full-time a year ago. First with Mandrake 10.1, now with SUSE 9.3 (probably upgrade to OpenSUSE 10 in the near future).
I switched for three reasons. First and foremost, I got tired of spending more time dealing with spyware and viruses than actually working. Second, I'm developing a Java3d-based web game, and wanted to ensure cross-platform compatability. And, third, the free-as-in-beer software eliminates the guilt due to pirated software (Office and Photoshop are frigging expensive).
About the only thing I miss is game compatability. If a native Linux client ever comes out for Civ3, Civ4, BF2 or GTA:SA, I'm screwed productivity-wise.
Certainly couldn't do worse.
Granted, does LA really count as an english province? Or just the Mexican Embassy covering a few hundred square miles?

But until you can look at porn while sitting on hold for tech support at work, it's just not the same.
Maybe you should just kill yourself now and beat the rush.

Well, you know. We all want to change the world.
I'm American. I'll always go with the bigger and more expensive machine. Must mean it's better.

Old Astronauts are also potential satellites.
Umm, Firefly?

Porn on a non-pay-per-view channel! WooHoo!!
So, just live across the border in Washington State and commute every morning on your wife.
