I've had the Honda two years and the only time it sees the inside of a garage is for regular fluid changes. I bought a 99 model in 2001, so I wouldn't have to pay the new-owner-premium. It was worth it.
Now if only Apple would drop their prices to be more competitive with PCs.
I can afford to keep a near top-of-the-line PC simply by the sheer fact that I can upgrade a single component for minimal cost whenever I like. A shame really, as OS X is really attractive.
I could buy a G5 and a fully loaded PC for the same amount today, and try to sell them both in 3 months. The PC would be nowhere near the original purchase price.
Pick up the latest RC mags and you'll see some very similar devices. Flight times are shorter, but they're improving all the time. Micro-servos and stronger, lighter pushrods are allowing fine control with even the smallest planes. Wind is definitely a problem with these devices, but if you had a swarm of them and some skilled pilots you could do a lot of damage via intelligence collection or bomb/poison attack.
Are you sure the parent isn't just the original copy before the editor got his hands on it?:)
I worked at a paper as a co-op student and it was sick how they would butcher even a one paragraph article with inaccurate info for the sake of "making it interesting".
It's taken a bit of time, but I've managed to get our office to take open source tools seriously.
Open Office is finding it's way on to more desktops, as are other applications.
Tools like Audacity are great when you have a level designer who wants to tweak a short audio clip, but you can't justify spending the money you did on Sourceforge for the audio guy.
The next step is getting companies interested in donating to the projects that they find useful, be it in code time or a few bucks for project hosting costs.
But with digital music they don't NEED to be locked to the mainstream. Since they don't have to physically stock CDs they can carry everything made and only pay for it as it sells.
Doubt it. I just did a quick search for a few bands I listen to.
KMDFM - no songs. Front Line Assembly - no songs. Slayer - two songs of some crappy various artists collection. Revolting Cocks - no songs. Cat Rapes Dog - no songs. Noise Unit - no songs. Rammstein - Three songs, two off the Lost Highway soundtrack, and one off a Depeche Mode tribute.
So if you like bubblegum pop, hiphop, and country, Wal-Marts the place to shop. Otherwise, no dice.
Perhaps it makes no real difference, but in some small corner of my mind I feel like I'm sticking it to the man. ..
Sure, until your friend decides to buy 50 copies of 'Catcher in the Rye' and a crate of ammunition with your card and the men in the black helicopters come for you.
2) Invite your most passive friend over for the day.
3) Set him up in front of the console.
4) Now spent the whole afternoon telling him how to play, what he's doing wrong, and generally hurling abuse at him. "Left you fuck! Turn left! Oh look, now you're DEAD!"
Eventually you'll either have complete control over his actions or he'll crack and shove the controller up your ass.
The odd thing about that virus was like it was written by someone who makes their living doing tech support.
It's a virus that doesn't infect computer savvy people -- they wouldn't open the attachment, and if inadvertently infected would probably be able to clean it themselves.
But those who would get infected with it would be the same people who carry their machine into a shop and ask you to bring it back from the dead.
If they keep whacking off in the basement to anime, the next generation isn't going to be around to power anything! :)
I don't own a Mac but I do own a Honda.

There's one things PCs are *much* faster at.
Depreciation.

Of course, if they made porn for women, it'd be 45 minutes of foreplay followed by the man taking the garbage to the curb.
They do make porn for women. It's called 'The Shopping Channel'.

Any idea where that originated? I've seen it a few times but never attributed to anyone.
yeah yeah troll. think about this:
If religion didn't already exist, P.T. Barnum would have invented it.
We jumped into her car and then we started rollin',
I said 'How much you pay for this?'
She said 'Nothin' man it's stolen!'
Ah, my punk rock girl.
Oh yeah?? When we evolve into pure energy beings you guys are SCREWED!
All right Mr. Manilow, we'll carry your music again. ;)

Psst. The men in the black helicopters don't need warrants.
:)
I wasn't actually shooting for a +insightful either. More like +tinfoil-hat.

The corporation is recognized as an individual entity in it's own right within the scope of the law as well, making "is" right as well.
It's relative to the POV at the time.
Here's a much cheaper solution.
1) Rent a copy of your favorite game.
2) Invite your most passive friend over for the day.
3) Set him up in front of the console.
4) Now spent the whole afternoon telling him how to play, what he's doing wrong, and generally hurling abuse at him. "Left you fuck! Turn left! Oh look, now you're DEAD!"

Just pray it's not the original XBox controller.

Hmmmm.
Someone on here called me an asshole once! You're all going to hear from my lawyer!
Now I just need to find a lawyer who can convince the court I'm not an asshole. This is going to take money, and Johnny Cochrane.
Yeah, Wired covered this in the 1990s.
But that just shows the lag between geeks and muggles.
Yes, the spanish police and correctional system are soooo much better than anything in Canada or the US.
Anyway, it's not all about rape. There's LOTS of healthy, loving, psychotically fueled homosexual relationships on Oz.
From bruising and swelling maybe.
It will be great when spammers finally start seeing jail time.
They'll be receiving unlimited penis!
Class action lawsuits are for lawyers to make money off. If you expect to see anything from one, don't hold your breath.
