I would be more than happy to buy tunes from the iTunes Music Store, but you need a credit card simply to CREATE an account. Even if you buy them with gift certificates.
Therefore, I can't buy music online. I don't have a credit card.
But if the need for a credit card were eliminated...
I think that IBM happily supplying the PPC-based Xenon chip for Xbox 360, while being unable to deliver 3.0 GHz chips for Apple, was the slap in the face that finally caused them to jump.
Now, the question is... what will the new platform be called? Certainly not PowerMac...
Of course, the alternative to the current government is to support a bunch of right-wing nutjobs who are more than happy to support seperatists in order to further their quest for power.
What I wish for is a new keyboard standard designed to make it easier to enter accents and other characters. (I frequently have to type in spanish, where I work.)
I've got that US-Int option going on my QWERTY, but unfortunately it makes entering text with quotes a bit messy sometimes.
The current lot of keyboards out there are based off ancient ASCII-focused designs, with a few added function buttons. I'm sure there's room for MAJOR improvements.
With out international society, it would be very useful. Someone just needs to take initiative and design one.
(Whenever he would hold up the lightsaber the crowd would fall silent, waiting to hear the ignition sound - each time followed by a round of applause.)
Wow. Words cannot express how pathetic, and utterly Pavlovian, that is...
Sure, the iPod is fairly entrenched as of right now, but when people's iPods break, they'll already have a device that can play music, making another iPod purchase much less lucrative.
Thing is, if my iPod breaks, I still have my phone. If my phone breaks, I still have my iPod.
Intergration is fine... but the downside is that one failure can bring everything down.
Which, of course, begs the obvious question -- if they're both contributing IP, will they both be charging royalties and price the technology too high?
If they both contribute to the standard, they'll probably setup a consortium or holding company (I don't know the exact term) that collects royalties on their behalf.
The only times I've ever really wanted a radio in my years of train commuting was to listen to Leafs playoff games... and those are AM broadcasts, so an FM tuner is of no use.
Or, even better: Microsoft "Word"
Seriously, most corportate logos are probably a script like that.
- Enter Company Name: ______
- Choose Direction of "Swoosh": ______
- Press Enter
Ugh. I HATE swooshes.
The debit card system runs different in Canada. We can't use them for online purchases.

Who has Canada's best interests in mind?
Ya, I've had to do that too.
But I actually convinced her to use Firefox when I built her new computer, and it's been (relatively) smooth sailing since. (Knock on wood.)

Actually, wouldn't that be Mac/Mach?
Exactly. What if you want to switch phone companies?
Is the music "licenced" through their system lost?

Since when did "screenshot" mean "photograph of a physical object"?
A screenshot is a capture of what's on a computer screen...
(One of those web annoyances...)
I use the key quite a bit too.
My most common uses are Win+L for "Lock Workstation" (get up for a break), Win+F for "Find", and Win+M for "Minimise All".
I just wish I could untie it from the damn Start menu. One of the worst uses ever. (Too bad it's not Win+S, or something.)
Minimalism is lost on you, isn't it?
4. Piss me off for wasting my time. I even wasted my time typing this up
Yes, I can feel your frustration. That 10c your time was worth would have been much better spent buying a bracket for your fan.

What if they had really compact brains?
Like comparing a Pentium to a '60s mainframe?
Bullshit.
My PC is for productivity, graphics, multimedia, and the internet. My PS2 is for games.
Honestly, I'd rather spend $400 to buy a PS3 than $300 to buy a super video card (to play 500 FPS-style or strategy games.)
Maybe Seinfeld isn't for you. Not everyone has to share your tastes.
Deal.
There's not much good on TV nowadays, but there's a few shows I do enjoy. Does that make me less of a person? Nope.
I know. It's ridiculous.
Discovery Canada's new bumpers are even motorcyclish.
At least there's still Daily Planet, which is more to say than the US Discovery Channel.
I have two SATA drives in my system.
I had NO problem installing Windows XP.
Are your drives connected off the motherboard, or a PCI card?

I'm fine with my music on random.
