Heh. I'm betting on a-ftp. A recent virus update manages to quarantine the hell out of any copy of this wonderful program (that I used every single stinkin day to do f a s t file transfer over windows network)
This program has no malcious code, just a plain ole SIMPLE ftp server.
Really a shame, just think, when will *your* program be added to the new symantec blacklist?
G.E. Capital ITS. Fuckin' Fine ex-company there. We used to order soooo much stuff from them (due to a corporate contract with IBM to keep our reseller contract we could only buy from them)
Nothing like damn near 50% markup over IBM's already high prices and the absolute worst shipping times I have ever seen for a company. I swear if we ordered shitpaper from them and it wouldn't get here for weeks.
>And of course, you know that's doesn't really happen, right ?

>Companies like HP or Sun don't jump because a customer says so. Much less in 4 hours.
Nonsense. You can get under-4-hour support for most any IBM product, you just have to pay a lot for that support.
For example, one of our mainframe controllers blew both power supplies. IBM flew a lear jet from Atlanta to Mississippi and had the part installed within 2 hours of us placing the service call.
>Perhaps some sort of distributed mirroring system needs to be implemented for smaller companies that don't have $billions$ coming in >every year to spend on bandwidth.
This would be a perfect example of a good use of those muchly RIAA despised P2P networks (Morpheus, Napster, WinMX, etc)
Thanks to the events on 9/11 the administration of Houston, MS High School...the team that *won* the US competition (by a good 230 miles!!) won't be travelling to australia to the world championship.
Why did they mainly scan Ebay? Why not take a look at the large free webhosting providers like geocities?
It seems like to me the terriorists like to keep a low profile, so why would they want to go through the trouble of getting a working account (and also have the need for a credit card) just to post some information on Ebay?
>I read this early this morning and the lest >seems suspiciously detailed.
>3Com NICs
Well, it's quite obvious for the 3com NICs. It's called standarization!! There isn't any sense in donating a bunch of noname clone network cards that would take days to find drivers for, much less get working.
...to get all these paid stories onto slashdot?

You and 100 of your closest friends...boring each other to death.
5L and the "Linux Affinity Toolkit for Aix 4.3.3" --- real nice package, includes rpm package manager and has a ton of precompiled rpms.
Because numbnuts, maybe they're not running all linux.
Perhaps maybe they need someone to audit the entire network, not just some webservers & firewalls.
Might want to get your head out of the sand and realize in the real world people use *different* OSs than you.
wooooooooo!

Well, hey, for slashdot, that spelling is more than acceptable.

>Finally documentation does not constitute a >computer program
It does if you're using COBOL.

So what do you do if your manager sets *no* goals and *no* parameters?
(besides read slashdot all day)
I wonder if it would be possible to buy a google ad on the "Scientology" keyword and point it to xenu.net ???
Just be like billpoint, which doesn't "hold" money, it just transferrs the money straight into your checking account.
A good part of the fees paypal had to charge were absolutely necessary to pay for the fees that the VISA/Mastercard monopoly charge.
Now, as for other options, you have billpoint (which just makes ebay richer) or c2it, or e-gold.

I think your got it backwards...now states (like louisiana) can't say "You *are* a bank" so you must conform to our state banking laws.
Just like a slashdot reader to not know...

Damn terrorists.
Damn slashdot effect takes it right back down. :)
I'd be happy if slashdot would quit killing the login for the various avantgo scripts that strip down slashdot into a palm-readable (sizewise) format.
Just burn all your mp3s to DVD-R, and then let them try all day to delete them!

Just start using lynx as your default browser.

It really sucks that MS will be able to write off the licenses as a tax break.
Why not just use bogomips?
