I think whats happening is natrual, people who are in the music business who don't make music are starting to get cut out and are unnecessary for the dissemanation of music. Their kneejerk reactions aren't helping themselves either.
Basically, if you buy a DRMed CD, return it to the store that you got it at and tell them its defectictive. It will make people and companies who do that shit have sluggish sales.
I just flunked out of school AGAIN, for playing Starcraft. Damn, I need to learn Korean so I can start getting paid. Does anyone know where to download peoples replays of famous matches? thanks. PEACE
is the link to the kinetics race they have in Boulder. Its not so much about science as it is about getting super wasted and a sun burn and a hangover to show for it.
I changed my major from computer science to Music and Recording Arts. I think that I'm going to make more money as a musician an audio engineer. . ..
In my opinion, you go to school to study things that interest you and that seem interesting to learn. Kids already "know" computers, can check email, write html, download warez, porn, and music, why would they want to learn how to program, maybe a good job?
Study what interests you, get a trade to make money.
Like KRS-One says, MCs should have more ways of making money than just rapping, same thing if you are a computer programmer.
I just spent last night trying to add friends to my friendster account. The main reason?
Its interesting to see who your friends know. This girl that I am into is on friendster and she just added me. She was talking about going to Texas to visit friends and for some reason all her friends in Texas are guys. I don't suspect anything or really care, cause we ain't even dating. This certainly does bring up some privacy concerns. . .

I think the idea of open source energy solutions is a great idea. Right now, we have NO choice of who we buy our electricity from. The situation with electricity and fuel is 20X worse than Microsoft's control of the computer industry. What happens when petroleum gets too expensive and runs out?
As a business model, selling digital files online seems like a great thing. You can reach a world wide audience, you don't have to pay for shipping, packaging, and like you said, distribution is the cost of bandwidth which these days is about $20 a month at most web hosts (unlimited bandwidth).
As a DJ, the one thing that I notice is that it is better to get a physical product into the hands of as many retailers on the web as possible and use MP3s for promotion. As a format, i don't think that I would ever pay for MP3s, there just not worth it. I equate it to radio. I check out songs that I have heard about to see if they are any good. If they are than I buy them on VINYL!!!!! But that is just my personal preference.
If you find that you are actually selling mp3s, all the power to you, but I think you would be better off investing some money in real product and getting it into as many online and real stores as possible. Follow that up with promotion online and off.
I think there is great potential for digitally distributed content, but as musician, you must be creative and try to get your music out as many ways as possible. See how much money you make selling mp3s. If it isn't much, than make them free to promote your album on CD, cassette, vinyl, minidisc, or 8-track
I don't know about you, but I think Barstool racing is lame. I hate American beer, sports culture. They are a bunch of idiots who know what every score is, but talk about foriegn policy and they draw a blank. This kind of crap (barstool racing) doesn't even compare to go-carts! 1st, from a geek perspective, it is top heavy and unsafe. I would rather read a story about someone who builds a motor from hemp oil or is working on alternative energy.
I think the article made lots of sense. For a roleplaying game, Everquest is one of the most boring games that I have ever laid eyes on. The only thing that keeps people playing it is the fact that it is similar to IRC . ..
When Sony bought out Verant, that is when Everquest had possibilities to be a descent game that was cared for to another corporate tool to make money.
But basically, one of my good friend's Dad. Plays this game relentlessly. Every day after work he is at his workstation putting in 4-6 hours. I remember putting in 12 hour sessions at Starcraft a couple of years ago. But, the point is that he is playing the SAME game that he was 2 years ago. Everquest will rule your life if you let it.
Anyway, if people like the game, fine, play it. But, I don't think that Sony is doing that great of a job. Sell your character, make some money and then buy a new game, that doesn't suck you in for two years . ..

AI was totally disappointing

Review: A.I.

· Score: 1
I thought that AI was disapointing. When I watch a Kubrick movie (which this would have been if he hadn't of died) it makes me think of interesting things about life. This movie on the other hand was totally manipulated into Hollywood crap by Spieldberg. It was based on trying to make you cry and feel sorry for the robot. Sorry. Didn't work.
Basically, this story was a remake of Pinochio. " I want to be a real boy!" Blah, Blah, Blah. If I hear Haley Joel Osment whine like that anymore I will not see his movies until he is past adolescense. In some scenes he was creepy which made up for some of his bad acting (he's a child actor, I know, but I can still be a critic).
The movie was far to mystical and there was not enough scientifical fact to back up what it is to be a robot. The robot is suddenly in his new home. Things are awkward. This scene lasts for about 30-45 minutes. Total overkill. I guess I wish there was more to the film. The scenes were all cheesy.
Overall, a descent waste of two and a half hours. You have to see it if you liked any of Kubricks movies but the movie is sappy and will leave you empty and unfulfilled when you leave the theatre.
I'm sure that we will all be able to use Linux whether M$ percieves it as a threat or not. There is nothing that M$ can do to stop Linux. They can't buy it and make it go away. Tough shit M$.

EULA In Games

· Score: 1
EULAs are annoying at best. This is how you get by the EULA and you only need non-digital tools. You only need:
Razor blade
Clear tape
Directions:
2. With the razor bladeMake a small cut in the software that you are planning to open.
3. Cut into the plastic wrap, don't nick or cut the box.
4. Make the cut so you can slide the box out from the plastic.
5. Save the plastic. You will be sliding it back on the box later.
6. Pull the inards out of the box.
7. Insert the Software into CD drive
8. Burn a perfect copy onto a burned disk.
9. Make a note of the serial number
10. Put all the contents together the way that you got them.
11. Close the box, slide the plastic back on the box.
12. With a small piece of tape, close the plastic up, if you did it right, it will be hard to notice.
13. Return it to the store that you got it at.
Addtional Notes on getting by the EULA:
Tell them that it was a gift and that you already have it.
Don't use a credit card or check to buy the software.
Make sure that you don't get your greasy finger-prints on the box or the plastic or even the CD. It makes it that much more obvious.
If the product looks unopened you have that much easier a time returning the product.
This is, of cource, just for informational purposes only.
You wouln't want to do this in real life, that would be breaking laws and such.
Why would I want to buy a proprietary piece of hardware my computer that has the lone usage of being able to? I can put a fast graphics card in my box instead and it will run all the games and at faster performance.
Sega should dump hardware (like they are doing now) and JUST stick to software. Emulation is the way to go in my opinion versus hardware addon. Also, if Sega was smart, they would make their games easily portable to Windows, Linux and Mac. It's a much bigger market than those who have a proprietary piece of hardware.
Mp3.com is the fucking worst. I am an artist and they send me shit EVERY FUCKING DAY! It sucks because I can't just ban their domain because they send me emails on how to get paid. I have tried to get off the list, but it won't let me.
I have more problems with SPAM from large corporations than I do from subject: XXX Want to see Hot Girls?
Jar-Jar Binks was a dissapointment (to say the least). Although the animation was terrific, it still did not look real and it fealt like something was missing.
Not having an actor in R2 might work because it is not humonoid. It should be easier to reproduce because it has much less parts to animate. My problem, though is the way animated characters interact with the environment. It just isn't the same. You can tell when the actors are pretending to interact with something that isn't there.
