I'm surprised you understood my post... I just reread it, and it reads like crap;)
Here's what I think they are trying to do:
1. The ftp access is severely limited. The lycoris.org FTP site doesn't allow public download of the iso's (at least it didn't when I originally tried, according to their.message) The annexa site is limited to 10 users max.
2. If they change the ftp, there's no incentive to buy the CD. Get the old cd or download new "improved" Lycoris? I don't know about you, but I'd download it.
I downloaded CD1 and installed about 2 weeks ago - long after the name change to Lycoris and everything from installation to splash screen at X startup said Redmond Linux. I just now checked, and the CD images available by FTP haven't changed, so I'm assuming they still say Redmond.
Their website says they will change the name on the CD when they sell out of their first run. I wonder when that will happen?
you CAN move them to anything other than S##xxxx, but i normally stick with the standard and use K##xxxx
Actually, in the rc.? directories they are links to the scripts. You could actually delete them to keep them from starting without hurting your system at all (don't try this in the init.d directory). Changing them from S to K (as suggested in a later post) won't prevent the services from being started at run-level 2, unless they are changed in rc.2
As an aside, if you're running a RedHat based distro, try 'man chkconfig'. It might be useful;)
Radio Play Plays a Big Role in Music-Purchasing Habits
A new study by the Philadelphia-based Kelly Research shows radio has the greatest impact on rock music purchase decisions among listeners ages 16-39.
The nationwide survey of music buying habits surveyed 428 rock music listeners. Sixty-one percent rated radio airplay as "very important" in determining what they will buy. Videos were cited as very important by 37%, concerts were cited by 32%, and 7% cited critics reviews.
Radio is also influential as a music advertising medium, according to the study. Fifty percent of survey respondents cite radio spots as influential in their buying decisions. Television spots are important to only 39% of those surveyed, and print ads influence 30%.
According to the study, 49% of males ages 16-24 first hear of music they buy "from friends" more than any other source. In the male 25-49 category, that figure drops to 16%. Among females 16-24, 35% first hear of music they buy "from friends," but only 14% of women ages 25-39 cite friends as a source.
People buy what they hear, whether they heard it on the radio or on MTV or in their best friend's car. Studies have suggested (I wish I could find a reference now;-) that with the first listen to a song, a person may not like it - but with each subsequent listening, the chance that they will like the song actually goes up. What is played on popular stations will become popular. If "payola" gets it played often enough CDs will sell, arenas will sell out, posters, paraphernalia, etc...
Fact is, payola is still a part of the business. It won't make people love crap, but it gives a new group a chance.
Now breakage charges - someone deserves to be beaten!
I believe that IE is an extension of explorer, not the same program. You can get all of Explorer's functionality from an IE window with no lag. If you open a URL in _Windows_ Explorer, there is a lag while the IE fluff loads.
I've read that Apple's newest OS is not pronounced "Oh Ess Ex" but "Oh Ess Ten". But almost anyone I talk to calls it OS "Ex". Does anybody know what Apple is saying today?

Minor nit: mysql.org and mysql.com now point to the same IP. The canonical address is/was mysql.com, but the real MySQL site can be found using either address. This was settled (or maybe not, read the link;) soon after the original story broke.
NuSphere clearly didn't do "the right thing" and I hope they get their butts kicked.
Another way is to download this hosts file. About a 50K download = 10,080 unique servers blocked, 171 doubleclick servers. Last updated end of November, last year.
TAke a look at the differences between NetBeans and Forte for Java. I'm sure it's similar with StarOffice and OpenOffice.
The reason they sell Forte and give NetBeans away is cost of support (or so they say) and a few "enterprise" add-ons. With Forte you get guaranteed support, with NetBeans you get community support.
So you're trying to tell me that, in a vacuum, a skier can move as fast downhill with his center of gravity three feet above the snow as with it 1.5 feet above the snow?
He didn't tell you this, but it's true.
A disc and a sphere of the same weight will simply not roll downhill at the same speed, even in a vacuum. Besides, the very act of lowering one's center of gravity 1.5 feet would have a definite impact on momentum.
Where do I start;) Okay, there's a difference between angular momentum and linear momentum. A skier slides (linear), a disk or a sphere will roll (angular). To calculate linear momentum (like the momentum of a skier): p = mv, where p is momentum, m is mass, v is velocity. Lowering center of gravity has no effect on momentum (or acceleration, for that matter). Decreasing drag at 60MPH, however, has a great deal of effect.
DANCE is a portable, open, plug-in based, object-oriented software package for physics-based character animation. It runs on Linux, Irix, Windows 98/NT and is being ported to MacOS by Joe Laszlo. One of its goals is to provide researchers with a common platform where they can test their control methods and share their results. In addition, it provides the common, yet complex functionality that everyone needs in a physics-based animation system, allowing researchers to concentrate on their research work. Dance has been used for a variety of physics-based applications that include biomechanics modelling and composeable controllers. For more information, please contact the authors.
Mr. Tilden recalled...[snip]... a television remote control to which he had grafted a snakelike robotic tail. "I designed it to move when someone sat down because I kept losing the remote in the cushions," he said.
Forget the bugs, he should market the tail for the TV remote! I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
FYI, sunsite.uio.no only has RC2, not the final 8.2.

Actually, it's the (GNU) General Public License.
All JDK >= 1.2 are known as "Java 2".

It's on the View menu, and uses http://www.teletranslator.com as the engine. Pre-fills the form for you. Haven't tried it yet, but I will...
I used to say the same. Now I just use Google's language tools page. It says it's beta, but works as well as the fish.
A postscript document detailing his research.

Although, after seeing a few posts here, he could have just misspelled it...;)

Do you mean HTML is broken or HTTP is broken. If you do mean HTTP, how do the browsers break it?

So what do you use to develop code in Zope?
Does Zope provide an interface I have to use, or can I use vim if I choose?

Find what? Did you mean to link deeper then the homepage?

Extraordinary it is... I like to think I have an above-average vocabulary, but even I had to look it up;)
