I'm probably a "hardcore" gamer. I average about 4 hours a night after work and various other activities.

If you're "only" playing an average of four hours a night, I'd suggest you're most definitely NOT a "hardcore" gamer. I'd say you're an average player, somewhere in between the casual gamer, and the hardcore fiends who hit 60 in a week.

I agree with your post though. I spend most of my time soloing, and usually would rather solo than group. I don't feel like spamming strangers with invites, and its not always easy to get a group of friends together for a night of gaming. It'd be nice if you didn't have to be several levels higher than the mobs in an area to complete it on your own.

It's too bad - Sega was actually helping gamers by producing great games, and releasing them at a lower price than EA (I think EA might've even dropped the price of some of their games last year as a result). Now, EA doesn't have to innovate, or compete on price.

I think this company would tell you otherwise. (OK, it does ship with software, but its the precious Linux you want to run on it anyway).

Their processor, motherboard, and BIOS are clearly not standard PC components.

As stated above, current Macintosh computers don't use a BIOS, they use OpenFirmware, which, as the name implies, is open. As for the processor and motherboard, what about them is undocumented, that isn't with PC hardware? I'd guess Motorola and IBM are actually MORE open than Intel is about their processors, and most motherboard manufacturers don't tell you that much info beyond what chipset their using, so in this case, they're about as open as Apple is with their motherboards.

If someone can come up with a good reason to use BSD vice Linux, let me know.

Some of the reasons I prefer FreeBSD to Linux:

    - Ports - No Linux package management system can compare with the beauty that is the FreeBSD ports collection
    - Clear separation between base system and add-on software
    - License - I prefer the BSD license to the GPL
    - init scripts - I like the /etc/rc.d system better than the different sets of scripts I've encountered on a Linux system.
    - filesystem layout - I've found the layout of the filesystem to be more logical than most Linux distros. This kind of ties in to my "separation of base system and add-on software" point above.
    - stable, secure.
    - easy updating with cvsup and make *world
    - I like the kernel configuration better. Linux' make config, make menuconfig, make xconfig are a pain. I'd rather just edit a text file, and go.

Many of these things are just personal preference. Give FreeBSD a serious look sometime, you may like it better than Linux.

Linux provides all the anti-MS geekiness I can stand at the moment.

That's not a reason to use anything. "Linux users hate Microsoft. FreeBSD users love UNIX" (Shamelessly stolen from someone's .sig here, I believe).
