    Plus the freight trucks that move this crap across the country burn far less gas than if we all drove to the store. ~10,000 boxes carried in one truck is more efficient than 10,000 car trips.

    And one train is far more efficient than all those trucks. Cross country shipping needs to be done properly.

    I would like to add in using a ramdisk for temp files (Flash cookies) and on Windows an app like CCleaner, that can be run on login.

    I've made Chrome pretty anonymous using those 2 tools and a batch file.

    I also have my own internal DNS server to bypass my ISP and a VPN to another network that I run, most average users don't have that advantage, but it's possible.

    It's hard to keep privacy.

    Websters does not have the word government anywhere in the definition of censorship or censor. Of course a private company can censor. Broadcast television does it all the time.

    The only test for censorship in this case is: 'Did they block a message based ONLY on the content of the message?' If the answer is yes, then it is censorship. That doesn't make it illegal or wrong, it just makes it fit the definition.

    They are using a limited US resource, in this case the radio spectrum. That might make things a little more complex.

    No, it is something to cheer about.

    The day is coming where I can finally hook up my media center to my TV without having the sound or video go out because HDCP decided it didn't like the fact the computer goes to sleep.

    I'm sick of restrictions on what I paid for. If I want to watch a movie on my computer instead of on my TV, I should not have to jump through hoops to do it.

    DRM is about having me buy multiple copies of things I already have, it's not just about protection, it's about additional profits.

    I think you're splitting hairs when the phrase is used in this context.

    He's presumed innocent until proven guilty, at which point he's not innocent, but instead guilty.

    I could come up with something more detailed using cars or bitwise operators, but I have not had enough coffee to think.

    Suggestion, learn how to use OS.

    SSH isn't needed for the average user. Telnet and FTP are, and are included.

    Not really, but you seem to think it does, Apple has taught me that delusion is much more interesting compared to reality anyway.

    Os x has an incredibly powerful unix underpinning and a very easy way to manage applications with said underpinning.

    So, they dumbed down the OS, +1 for you.

    Windows machines are so primitive that they refuse to connect to the domain controller you specify if they broadcast and see another domain.

    Also you boast about how much easier windows is, have you ever tried to connect it to a non windows box? It's a huge pain in the ass.

    Why would I do that? The other systems are crap anyway.

    Pretty much every feature of windows 7 was in tiger which was released in 2004.

    Windows is nothing but a toy to people who actually know anything about computers.

    If you use a real OS and a real file sharing protocol(not MS garbage) then you won't have any problems at all. I use AFP(though NFS works equally as well) to view HD media over wifi and works perfectly. Ditch windows and you will have 0 problems.(The previous sentence pretty much works in any context)

    1/10, try harder next time you troll.

    This is how you troll:

    Use a real OS, avoid the Fisher-Price style MacOS, it treats you like you're a complete idiot and can't handle anything remotely complex. If you do ever need to fix something, you're out of luck.

    Second, avoid Linux, it's got the style and compatibility of running a small nuclear power station. Anything that would normally require 3 seconds in Windows takes 10 minutes of pulling levers and turning dials.

    Finally, don't ever install itunes on Windows. Steve made sure you have a penalty for not choosing his toddler time playground of an OS, and that penalty is a confusing mess of application garbage and unnecessary services and protocols.

    Remember, if you're too stupid to use a computer, get an Apple instead, it's the AOL of the 21st century!

    I thought the same thing. I mean some people take their computers and electronics a little too seriously, but I wouldn't quite say it's a religion yet.

    Unless God Squad starts fixing computers, there shouldn't be any issues.

    That being said, the courts that would hear this case are mostly run by a group of morons who go out of their way to let corporations do whatever they want.

    Is it really that confusing? The problem is the lack of logic and understanding of equality. It shouldn't matter what the equation looks like, if one side equals the other, one side equals the other.

    This is where I blame computers for making math a little more difficult.

    5 x 2 = x x 1 is a real PITA to go through when you type it out, even if you wrote it as 5 x 2 = X x 1, it looks like crap.

    5 * 2 = x * 1 works better, but no one outside of computers uses * for multiplication, which is a shame, because it doesn't look like a #@$@ing letter!

    Using the highest level of the order of operation is NOT a good replacement, even if it can be deciphered fairly easily.

    (5 + 2) x 2 + (4 + 1) = (() + 1) looks like crap as well.

    So, either solve for y, or use * to multiply.

    You know, I really came close to Godwining the thread in my first reply, I would have gone with Hitler and Stalin.

    Either way, Stevens was just a part of the political party machine that is ruining this country.

    I actually feel sad for him, he'll only really be known for his Senate career, if he did anything else in life it will be overshadowed.

    This needs repeating.

    USE A RAMDISK and learn about MKLink. Use it for any temp data you can get away with.

    I run Windows 7 x64, I have 4GB of memory and I dedicate 512MB to a RAMDisk. I point Flash, IE and Chrome temp directories to the disk.

    I've found that unless I'm running multiple VM's I can give up the memory with no negative side effects. In fact, browsing is slightly quicker.

    Many (most?) employers now ask if you've merely been arrested, regardless of whether you were charged or found guilty, so he'll be making minimum wage at best.

    In most states that is outright illegal.

    However, security background checks are not and the arrest (and lack of conviction) will show up on one, if the employer does checks.

    There really is no way to just hold the phone like normal or even abnormal and go from full signal to zero.

    Sorry, you're wrong, after holding the Eris with both hands, and feet, underwater, on top of a mesa while in a Faraday cage I experienced significant signal loss. While in comparison, I saw absolutely no signal loss after using the new bumper Apple issued (while attached to the 12 ft iTenna, but most iphone users have at least one of them)
