And there was no cap at 0% - as she put it, "yes, you can do so badly on a essay that I will take points off of your previous essays."
Your teacher was on a power trip, plain and simple. There's nothing wrong with grading on the current essay, but going back and changing previous essays proves that the teacher has no concept of why she was there in the first place.
All components have simple, easy to understand peel off stickers that you match when assembling your furniture.
There's a clear, easy to understand manual in english (or whatever language you want) included that shows you how to mix and match the big red letter A sticker with the big red letter A sticker.
Nice conversion chart, too bad there's no such thing as 12:00am or 12:00pm.
And to top it all off, of the people who usually think there is a 12am and 12pm, 12am is midnight and 12pm is noon, so the chart would be backwards for the majority of the people looking at it.
For those who care, if you are measuring time using anti meridian (am) and post meridian (pm), there's a point when both times are equal, this would be 12 meridian. To make things easier, we call these times noon and midnight.
I recommend everyone visit http://www.usno.navy.mil/ for most time related issues. They'll also help sync your computer's clock.
Actually, that's one thing they can't do. If someone sends you mail (email, postal mail, carrier bird, whatever) you gain the rights to do what you want with it, as long as you do not change the content.
The PVR and security systems are already electronic devices, they would benifit from communications and should be secured properly.
The heating idea is not bad, ever think X-10?
As for the other items, the $.05 whistle on the kettle works well, add a bell to the toaster, and the smoke detector can answer all your other questions.
Seriously, I don't see advantages to putting the toaster, blender or most household applicances in the home network? Those appliances are single use, load just before using.
I don't need the blender to start up at 5pm, so I can have a mixed drink or something when I get home, because it will have spoiled during the day. And I really don't want my bread sitting in the toaster all night, it invites pests.
Besides, with the extra money spent on these connected appliances, I could hire a maid.
"You don't need a State issued ID to be a passenger in a car, on a bus, a boat, or any other form of transportation. The thing here is that there are federal regulations (written or not) that require you to prove who you are in order to be a passenger on a scheduled commercial airliner."

Effective immediately, Amtrak is implementing several new security measures for the benefit of our guests. Consequently, guests will be required to produce valid photo identification when purchasing tickets or checking baggage.
And yes, they do check the ID when you're on the train as well.
100 miles is nothing when you have several large rail corridors sitting next to your plant.
Albany is a rail hub with low cost for building and housing. You can ship products (or people) to NYC in under 2.5 hours. Or Armonk (IBM) in about an hour. It's also very easy and cheap to ship to Chicago, NJ, PA, CT, MA.
Albany is a wonderland for a manufacturer. The only thing is, I'm not sure how much manufacturing will be going on here.
Use what you think is the best tool for the job at hand.
One of the worst things you can do is to waste weeks on cross-platform compatiblity when your project doesn't require cross-platform compatability. There are too many programmers who do this. You wind up with GREAT code that works on several platforms, but the company lays off half the staff due to the loss from delays.
When I want to write a small simple program, I use MFC every time. Why? Because I need it done yesterday and I need it to work.
Back in 1996, One of the programmers I worked with was a big Floyd fan. He put in an egg that would pop-up if you sat at the main menu of the site for half a day. It would replace the menu with the Dark Side cover picture. Unfortunately, the site he had the pic on went down a few years ago.
We noticed it, and replaced it with an ultra-tacky Frontpage easter-egg page complete with annoying midi and flying dhtml text. (It's REALLY bad)
Strange thing is, dozens of people hit the page now and then, but I've only had 1 person comment on it in 6 years. And it's still there in the beta of the latest software.
http://ktclub.com, login, and sit at the main menu for a day or just view the source for the refresh tag.
There are some situations when an IDE server makes sense. There are applications that are mostly network and RAM driven, and an IDE server is a great low-cost alternative for something that almost never touches the HDD.
As for the price, it's way too high for an IDE server.
As a chat site operator, my company rated our site using PICS tags, put meta tags that would trip any filter, put warnings about this site is not for kids, even registered with some filtering software.
It's hard to tell how much worked and how much didn't, but we tried everything except forcing ID cards or credit card validation on our users.
That's where we draw the line.
We expect parents to pick up at least some of the responsibility of watching their kids. Which is, in all honesty, asking too much from some parents.
And of course it wont, because your copy of Quicken uses IE's HTML control. Or your favorite game uses DirectX, or better yet the media control from Media player.

The obvious, launch it anyway.

$600 laser toaster with jellyjet printer, anyone?

Because knowing advertisers, we would get about 15 to 20 "Dude you're getting a Dell" commercials every hour.
And when you are totally fed up with that, wait for the ads to show up on your premimum channels. HBO, Showtime, etc...
How long before this becomes a Time Warner targed advertising tool?
The box can easily compile a list of what you're watching, and then pop up advertising based on your viewing demographic.
Soon you'll see targed ads in your schedule gude, on the music channels. And the ultimate: popping up while you're playing back your program.

'We all know they're using .NET as a way to lock people into Windows servers and desktops'
Couldn't the same be said for ASP or Win32, how is this any different?
The biggest problem is that this will be considered fine to many people. After all, they say it's only pirates that use these programs.
Then RR can simply apply this to other things that will use 'excessive' bandwidth.
Oh, your Everquest client uses too much bandwidth. But our new AOL game doesn't.
The chat server you connect to is eating up too much bandwidth, you should use AOL's chat rooms.
Complain now and complain loudly.

The actual law was passed years ago, with rates "to be determined later".
So, this does not apply.
And use Zork as a template for an online game.
Is a MMORPG based on Zork.
This is the same congress that won't fix our local (earthbound) transportation issues.
Lets drive and jet everywhere. Great idea! Going from NY to DC, take a jet! Go thru 50x more fuel then you need to on a 1 hour flight.

Just a note, Windows 3.1 was not usually sold with MS-DOS. And in fact Windows 3.1, could run on non MS-DOS systems. (PC-DOS, DR-DOS (sometimes))
Uh huh, so we can expect LionelHutz.pro in about 2 minutes.
