I haven't gotten the chance to play it yet but it looks like the dev team really went all out on it. Check out the screenshots on the site; all the models are really pretty good quality. The AT-AT is a particular favorite.
This is a great idea from what I can tell so far. I can't wait to get home and play the battle of Endor or Hoth!
This is a pullback from the original plan which called for wide dissemination of data including financial and medical history.
Good thing, too! The last thing I need is the flight attendants laughing at me when I board the plane because they can see my bank account and medical "records."
Check his resume and you'll see that he has some experience with Roller Coasters: Not only is he a mechanical engineer, but also once woked for Arrow Dynamics, which is one of the foremost Roller Coaster companies in the world.
Choke your employees! Persuade people to do your bidding in departmental meetings! Destroy entire office buildings in one fell swoop when projects are delayed!
KOTOR is pretty amazing. I've never played "RPG" games before and at first the turn-based idea of "rolling" to determine attacks and stuff was a bit odd, but about 1/3 through the game I was kicking ass AND taking names.
KOTOR is, like many reviewers have said, is probably the best use of the Star Wars license in the last 5 years (Phantom Menace and ATOC included)
If you want a really good and bbelievable impression of the game check out Penny Arcade. Tycho and Gabe really like it, and that means a lot in my book.
This year at QuakeCon 2003 there will be the very first female gaming tournament in the event's history. The turn-out is expected to be a mix of boyfriends, hangers-on, and droolers.
Also displayed were the next generation of crashes in the Windows operating system, including those with up to a million shades of blue on a blue screen, those that can crash every computer on a network at the same time (Win, Linux, and MacOS), and a new feature that will cause your heart to stop when Word crashes.....ok, it's a joke. laugh.
You're right, a lot of people didn't read the article and totally overlooked the USB-ish dongle you use.
A good question will be if the computer is running and you yank out the dongle what will happen? Will the OS just hard crash or will something else terrible happen?
Absolutely, which is why the rollout of iTunes for Windows will be difficult.
First, they have to get people to download it....big hurdle there. Second, they have to get people to actually buy music. Even bigger hurdle, but it slopes down rapidly once people actually use iTMS and like it. Finally, they have to get people to move their music over from winamp, windows media player, real, etc. so that iTunes has value outside of download it, move it somewhere else, play it.
That means they need to have import utilities for all the other library management tools ready to go on day one. People have to say "iTunes is the best program under the sun" and ditch everything else for it to become totally successful.
After looking at your listing on BMcom it reminds me of another idiotic error in their site: why the hell does EVERY song need a preview of the cover art? Have you ever seen an album with different cover art for every track? No? Thought so.
Good luck on getting your royalties....hope things go well for you and the old band.
I know it's been said before countless times but you really have to hand it to Apple for writing and backing up an elegant solution to this "dilemma" between the RIAA and consumers. By making it an all-in-one package through iTunes there isn't any questions about supporting Roxio drivers or downloading codecs and licenses for playback of your files.
to quote the linked blog: After all the songs downloaded, I tried to play them. Second problem. Before each song plays - it has to download and verify your license. You can't mulitple select a bunch and do this. You need to do this before EACH SONG will play. [Edited to add: "Verifing your license" means another window pops up that asks for your buymusic login and password... you enter it... it thinks awhile... it thinks some more... Then it comes back and says click "play" to actually play the song...]
This is just sloppy programming on their part. They are forced to make excuses for other people's software in the first week of release. Apple tossed out iTMS to their entire userbase and said "Now go use it. It works. Perfectly. Always."
The simplicity of simply allowing 3 computers for playback through iTMS is great (albeit for some that have 13 computers and want to listen to music on ALL at the same time) Just authorize one computer and it will always be able to playback your music even if it's away from a 'net connection.
BuyMusic.com was rushed and it's apparent in the first damn week. It doesn't hold a candle to iTMS. I can't wait to see it crumble.
I remember when that shitfest 'Swordfish' came out a year or two back. All my friends went to see it and thought it was incredibly cool. They couldn't understand why I didn't want to see it; I told them that I didn't like spitting at the screen in theatres.
Sometime later it was on HBO and I sat down and watched it. Jesus. Christ. What a terrible movie! I doubt that I would have been as overly offended by it if I was not a computer-centric person, but wow. "Gotta show some tits to get the kids in!" never rang so true...
If you're talking about changing the exact IMAP folder that Mail.app uses for its trash/sent/etc. All you have to do is open up the drawer with all the boxes on the side, find the remote folder (let's just say 'trash'), ctrl or right-click it, choose "Account settings" and then "User this folder for Trash" or whatever applies.
After you set that then Mail.app will shoot all of your trash for that account over to that remote folder.
This sounds similar to the Steam client that Valve just debuted for Half-Life, CS, and HL2. Downloads right over the 'net and a distributed system for acquiring updates and other bonus media.
basically you either get the problems introduced by using a Linux box mixed in with Windows PC's or you get the headache that comes with changing everything on the desktop over to Linux.
I hear ya! The university that I work for uses Exchange like it was coded by Jesus Christ himself. I'd use pine but I have to access a shared mailbox and can't do that through pine.
Outlook is slow, bloated, insecure, and 70% unused. I don't know about in big corporations but around here we NEVER use calendars and tasks are just for everyday things like "Patch Exchange server," "Reboot domain controller," or "patch 6,000 windows desktops from weekly killer bug"
The process:
1. Find old story from a week ago on Slashdot
2. Change the wording and submit
3. Wait for CmdrTaco to approve it
4.....
5. Profit!

rotting is going to make it unsafe in a few years.
What you mean is that rotting will make it thrilling in a few years.

Then how about "Darth Vader: Middle Manager"

More details here.
Whoever modded the parent as "Insightful" clearly has some weight issues. I'll just go back to laughing at a clearly "Funny" post.
...digital media discs...
so...like....it's on CDs?

The solution is to get a mac, then use iTMS ;)

Verdict: (0, Deadlock)
Forgive me for being so terribly blunt here, but if there major problem is compatibility with Windows networks then get rid of windows networks!

At 3am all that happens around here IS funny karma whoring. Let us play our games and use the letter "K" in every word...please?
