I voted in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio - Northeast Ohio. It was around 12:30 PM and I was voter #200-something. Not only were there no challengers, but I didn't have to show any ID.
Bush came here a few weeks ago and pleaded with our mayor to do the right thing. He said: "Mr. Mayor, fill those potholes!"
This may be too far along in the thread but I thought that I would share:
HP used to make an external parallel CD-R and the connection between the power supply and the burner was through a neat little PS2 connector. I had just started my first job in high school for a medium sized business and the computer that harnessed this beautiful 2x burner needed some simple adjustments made to it. At the time, it was the nicest machine in the building. I thought I was too important to look at what I was doing, so when it came time to plug everything back in I noticed that there were two PS2 plugs and 2 PS2 sockets in the back of the computer. I plugged them both in thinking that I knew what was going on. Unfortunately, I plugged the PS2 power supply into the Keyboard socket. The motherboard was useless after that.
I've been to St Pierre. It's a wonderful island of pirates supported mostly by the French government. If you went there you wouldn't even care about having an iPod.
If it's using the HP49 ROM like the article says then it must certainly use RPN. I agree, though, RPN has become almost an obsession with me today. I had to use a TI89 the other day an it almost made me cry.
I find it difficult to believe that that movie can be ANY worse than the live action Dragonball movie. I hadn't thought it possible to create something more coma-worthy than The Island of Dr. Moreau and then they had to come out with THAT!
Don't forget that these people most likely keep all of their accounting information on computers. Taking down riaa.org may be silly (and fun), but screwing up tax information could really be a pain in the ass even if they do have backups. There's all sorts of things that can be done to them. I don't advocate that, but I imagine that just about every business is vulnerable in some fashion because of their dependence on computers.
My dream has always been to modify my Ford Tempo to take a V12 Lamborghini engine and destroy everyone else out on the road. I don't really care if my car crumbles to dust after I destroy all of your cars - I'll take the Darwin award.
Wouldn't you be ashamed to be a person who mods his car or takes a great appreciation of fast cars only to be schooled by a Tempo?
Hacking Slashdot Exposed - covering such essentials as changing the proper story icon to the AMD logo and frustrating trolls by not allowing them to comment for 20 minutes.
Why is greed getting such a bad rap? I need to make money somehow. First I send spam and you drive by my house all the time leaving animal feces by my door. Then I ask you to renew your domain through me when you never signed up with me and you report me to all sorts of federal bodies that have no business telling me what to do and, finally, you tell me that I shouldn't charge per kilobyte for cut and paste AP wirefeeds.
Slashdot selling out in 2003? You mean Microsoft banners weren't selling out enough? What does it take to sell out- sending spam, advertising for Microsoft, selling moderator points while simultaneously raping our loved ones?
I've had friends that cheated in classes on tests without professors that knew any better. Some of my other friends do nothing but IM during class - but at least it keeps them IN class.
And others, as pointed out, can work longer hours on their CS labs.
As long as any student can pull out a laptop in class, though, it stops the classroom from being an isolated unit.
Thank you for the link. Great read!
Anyone ever found an emulator that can play Blue Max?
I must be the only guy on Earth that really liked Star Wars Rebellion.

There is, in fact, a googlebar for Firefox but I don't think that it has pagerank.
? application=firefox&id=33&vid=34
You can give it a try, though: http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php
Well, they don't have a plantiff yet and they are trying to convince shareholders to sue for apparent damages. I'd say that qualifies.

Those really are the memories. I didn't think I'd find a Poppies fan on Slashdot.
I just looked up escorts and found a ton of matches! Thanks Google!

Tentatively titled Gigli 2

Didn't Winzip used to require a pkzip executable in its path back in the early win31 days?

Slashdot calling Ireland? Are you serious? They post submitted stories. That's it.

Volume 2 looks to be just as good:

What is this world coming to??
New subsidiary? That's funny, I could have sworn they sent me something about renewing through them...
Moore's Law is like Moore's love, hard and fast.

I guess it can be both a boon and a godsend.

Delicious.
