No wonder everyone I know who doesn't have a PhD in Computer Engineering still has the Real icon in their system tray.
It may not be the easist thing in the world to disable from RealPlayer, but it's hardly that difficult. I only have my bachelors (in Anthropology, nonetheless), but even I could figure it out:-)
Well, it's not nearly the same... It uses the files extension to determine the MIME type. If an application isn't associated with the MIME type with that file extension, Windows is at a complete loss. BeOS, on the other hand, deals with the situation quite elegantly.
My comment was that FreeBSD was dead and dying. It started when the lead programmer and cofounder left to go work for Apple. It continued when 5.0 was pushed back by a year. Now with this news, I think it's impossible to say that FreeBSD is not dying, and personally I consider it dead.
Please take your trolling elsewhere. As long as their are developers working on it (and in case you hadn't noticed, there are still plenty of FreeBSD developers, including the ones that just got laid off), FreeBSD isn't dying.
Linux is an operating system, the word has passed into the language with that definition due to use.
Maybe in your opinion. To those of us who can distinguish a kernel from the rest of the operating system, linux is only the kernel. Mandrake is an OS. RedHat is an OS. GNU/Debian is an OS. Slackware is an OS. But, once again, linux is just the kernel.
Right... Damn it. My system should automatically know what services I want running and what drivers I want compiled into my kernel by just reading my mind.
The CrossOver plugin works great for me... I'm able to view every video trailer on Apple's Quicktime site (though netscape will hang for the longest time when loading that page... Mozilla handles it much better)..
There are numerour replies to them... However Slashdot, in it's utter crappiness, is broken (as usual) and isn't showing the number of replies on the homepage.
Avoiding preemptive multitasking in high performance single-processor programming is a good idea, period.
Why?
Both Quake III [quake3arena.com] and Quadra [sourceforge.net] use single-threaded, non-preemptive sound output with great success, so why are so many Linux/others game developers so stubborn on the idea of putting the sound in its own thread?
Because so Q3A's sound sucks compared to other games (such as Rune and UnrealTournament) which use OpenAL under Linux, perhaps?
Plus, I read all Loki faqs, sent plenty of e-mails, got no answers. This why i made this point, they barely care about what they make.
That's interesting... I have an entire folder dedicated to e-mail from Loki. They've been extremely responsive to all my messages.

5. Tribes 2 is a lot more interresting and it still doesn't fuckin work on Linux + Matrox G450.
Works fine with my Matrox G400. Are you sure it's not just user error?
Dinivin
Tribes 2 is done and out... You can order it from any of Loki's usual distributors.

Not really... It's a PITA to get to and disable
Dinivin
No need to quote it, just link to it :-) Actually, I'm not sure if it's the entire chapter from the printed book, but it's pretty close.
Dinivin
Funny... I've told RealPlayer to disable QuickStart (I think that's what they call it), and have never had a problem since.
Dinivin
That FreeBSD is dying.
Dinivin
Or how about "posting blatantly false shit in order to lower the level of conversation"? Because that's exactly what was going on.

How in the world did you get modded up?

On the contrary, Buffy has the best damn resurrection I've ever seen
Dinivin
I'd completely agree with you, except that none of the groups you listed are even close to half decent.

Technically, it's not a stretch, but this is an era of belt tightening. An Irix port seems a bit superfluous.
Tell that to the developers who did the Irix port of Q3A. They didn't seem to think it was all that superfluous.
Dinivin
The Long Kiss Goodnight us hardly a B movie :-)

Wow... And I thought I was slow when it came to picking up on sarcasm.

(And if it's bad, noone will care, because UPN basically stinks anyway)
But UPN now has one of the best shows on TV: Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

as a previous poster has already mentioned the most expensive AMD chip is $100, Intel = $500.
That's only relevent if Gateway is using the most expensive processor's from each company. Thus, your point still isn't valid. Try again.

I think you both were just lucky... I keep getting a "service not available" when trying to download the trailer in *any* size.
