Our apologies - instant watching is currently not supported for Macintosh.
So if it is officially supported, but not currently supported, then,... what am I missing?
Sure, you can play it in Parallels or BootCamp if you have XP or Vista installed on your Mac- doesn't count. If Netflix supports instant viewing on Mac, I shouldn't have to load Windows for it to work.
I've heard rumors of it working with Silverlight, but have yet to see it work. And why the hell didn't Netflix use a Flash player?
Thank you for clarifying. I did grab a Buddhism book a few weeks back; haven't gotten around to reading it yet- need to finish with my Satre & Rand books first.
Could that second bullet point about Buddhism be rephrased as follows?: "Suffering is caused by craving or attachments to worldly pleasures, such as certain sense of existence or selfhood. Thus if you think you exist or have a self, then you are causing yourself pain."
If so, then I have a problem with Buddhism. (Namely, I rather like the idea that I exist, and I don't believe giving up my sense of self is the best way to end my suffering; or if it is, then ending my suffering is not such a great idea.) Else, please explain the difference (besides me chopping out the other examples of worldly pleasures).
Also, I take issue with this wording: "Science is based on faith that the laws of nature are omnipresent and universal" Science is based on trust that the laws of nature are omnipresent and universal. Trust is that which is accepted based on evidence. Faith is that which is accepted without evidence.

If anything, it's a net positive for the GOP since they've been victimized by a crime from Obama's supporters without any damage being done in the long run.
Except until this realization enters the national consciousness and makes voters think "Hey wait a second. Am I feeling more inclined to vote for the poor GOP hockey mom just because her email got hacked? What am I thinking?"
Then it may even out.

LHC Success!

Maybe when the LHC was turned on, it did annihilate Earth and the universe; but just before doing so, it spawned this alternate reality we woke up in.
Or maybe it did create a blackhole larger than what they expected, like pea-sized, with a basketball-sized event horizon, and they're just doing a damn good job of keeping it under wraps.
Either scenario makes sense if you think about it. I mean, how embarrassing would that be? Imagine that press conference: "On behalf of all the world's scientist, I'd just like to go record as saying 'Whoops, our bad.'"
Now, he's dishonest to a degree, so he'll lie, exagerate or misreport when it suits him.
Same thing with Colbert and Stewart, if you're looking for it. Not saying this is a bad thing, just that this is what entertainers have to do sometimes to be entertaining.
Here is a very insightful discussion of this topic. To sum up: schools get more money to help with the failing kids. Unfortunately, good teachers and bad teachers both like money, and too often, both get the money equally. So there really isn't much incentive to do better at teaching. In fact, in this scenario there is more reward for kids doing badly than there is for kids doing better.
Thank you! I was trying to get the download to work but it wasn't happening, and finding the direct link in the page's source code was harder than expected.
Did anyone else read the headline thinking it said "Robot Senses Spiders"? Like some innovative robot developer had come up with something for rich arachnophobes?
Note also the sponsor and cosponsors of Amendment 20 (to strike section 220 from S1):
Sponsor: Sen Bennett, Robert F. [UT] Cosponsors: Sen McConnell, Mitch [KY] Sen Kyl, Jon [AZ] Sen Cornyn, John [TX] Sen Inhofe, James M. [OK] Sen Vitter, David [LA] Sen Thune, John [SD] Sen Coburn, Tom [OK] Sen Corker, Bob [TN] Sen Alexander, Lamar [TN] Sen Grassley, Chuck [IA] Sen Dole, Elizabeth [NC]
So while all senators in the list of sponsors of S1 are bad (or careless, where the two lists intersect), all senators this list of sponsors of Amendment 20 of S1 are good (or at least more intelligent than power-hungry).
Personally, I am deeply uncomfortable with any show that implies that an offensive trait is implicitly due to the character's ethnicity.
And it's times like this that I thank god the remote control is in the hands of consumers like you and me who have the freedom to change the channel when we see something objectionable; not in the hands of politicians and other legally-using-deadly-force government entities.
Maybe in the future it will be possible to draft a set of laws that discourage implicit racism in entertainment. At present, however, the U.S. legal system most likely lacks the necessary sophistication.
By lack of sophistication, you mean obstacles like that pesky first amendment thing?
If you want all explicit and implicit negatively racially charged language removed from entertainment, you should know this will put Carlos Mencia and most rappers out of their line of work. Are you willing to make that sacrifice? I'm not.
if it wouldn't be OK to portray Jewish people in a particular role then it shouldn't be OK to porttray any ethnic group in that role.
So, if there were a super-villain on Smallville who is notoriously greedy and is blatantly Jewish, that would be offensive. Since there exists one ethnic group that would be offensive with this one villainous trait, then there can no longer be any villains with the characteristic of greediness. All villains henceforth must be generous and charitable. A story like "A Christmas Carol" would not be possible to produce in these times. Am I understanding your proposal correctly?
I wouldn't mind seeing ethnicities being chosen at random, at the TV executives discretion, if they so choose based upon factors like audience preferences. I WOULD mind seeing this forced upon them, via a "rule" like the one you propose.
So basically what you're saying (unless I'm misunderstanding) is you want affirmative action on all entertainment shows, right?

"Although Netflix's instant watch service only officially supports Windows and Mac"
That's funny, because when I click on that link, I get a page that says

Yes, kidding.
I find that username consisting of a letter followed by a unpredictable string of numbers is enough to let people know you can't be tracked.

bash-3.2$ man showers
No manual entry for showers
I don't seem to have that command installed. What is it?
So I pull up this story on slashdot this morning about an Afghan student who avoided death for blasphemy and instead gets 20 years in prison.
Then I decided to play a game:
Could I get as far down as 25% thru the comments before someone brought up the "insightful" point of "Oh yeah? Well America sucks too!"?
Guess not.

I've got a great work around.
In fields like "Mother's maiden name:", just enter "mothersmaidenname".
Not derivable from any of your public records, and nobody would ever guess it.
Try it.

I was thinking of something more like:
while(armMissing()){
if (!debug){
crushKillDestroy();
}
petKitty();
}

I'm nervous about any legislation containing the word "Truth" seeing as how it'll be the government enforcing it.
I'm trying to imagine a Slashdot headline WIthout typos.
Thanks for a link to a comic strip in Swedish. Anybody know where I can find a version translated into English?
