  5. Repost big up to previous submitter on Do Subatomic Particles Have Free Will? · · Score: 0

I'm not sure that freewill, if it exists, requires any immeasurable quantum mechanical mumbo jumbo. The magic is not in any quantum mechanical phenomena inside the neurons, but in the standard physics arrangement of them.

More likely, the appearance of free will is result of the inability to perform 100% introspection into one's own mind. I can no more "understand" the real-time machinations of my own mind than a Pentium processor can run a real-time simulation of its own transistors. Because I can't perfectly introspect my subconscious, much of its output looks magically non-deterministic (hence the seeming similarity to quantum mechinical systems).

Any bounded-rational being would believe itself to have freewill based on its ability to take independent actions and its inability to introspect out all the causal factors underpinning its own actions. In reality, the system that creates intelligence can be 100% deterministic, just too complex for that intelligence to understand itself. Only a much more powerful intelligence could look down and see that these beings that think they have free will are actually operating on "simple" rules.

If you think theres even a 1 in 100 trillionth chance that there is an afterlife, for others as you say, i would seriously consider against saying that youre "not a god person".

Jokes! i hope you baught an apple(tm) extended(tm) waranty(tm) otherwise, if its anything liek an ipod, your gadget has a 90 day waranty. What happens after that? You are told to buy the new model! 5 years indeed..

With adult, real computers, every part has its own waranty. Also, you dont have to buy your service packs and DONT have to have any bloody itunes, quicktime or safari near your ANYTHING. (apple updater FTW)

Btw, have you tried using an expensive old g3 mac (your five year old example). Good luck finding software thats not purposely broken so that it wont run on your revision of the OS. Thats the most hilarious part. Even if the software would work fine, there are locks on most programs to tell you what os revision you can run them on. You know the odd program that complains when you run it on 2k, but doesnt on XP? thats par the course for mac - why didnt you buy the upgraded service pack you prole??!?
