This could be great or horrible. If he bows to pressure and doesn't license it to any one using it for "illegal purposes" it could really hurt file sharing. If he lets those use it who want to it could be a wonderful thing especially if it includes something that doesn't link back to the ones doing the sharing as much. Last think I need is the MAFIAA kicking in my door.
"$200-250 is a crazy amount to pay for a video card. $400 is insanely expensive. How much disposable income to you have, anyways?
You want to impress me? Show me a $50-100 video card that can perform as well as a $200. $50 falls into something I call 'cheap'."
You obviously live no where near the bleeding edge of technology! This is what video cards in the mid range have ran at for quite awhile. I can't think of anytimne in the past 6 years, at least to have paid less for a decent card.
back to the topic at hand, this is freakin awesome. I am currently upgrading my system and was ready to drop around 800 to go sli for my new rig this brings the price way down. something my wife will be very happy about. it is about time someone brought out a good card at a decent price.
"I'm sure MS will have a heyday with the definition of "non-profit"."
If they give away their software they are non-profit. If they have a different branch that sells support not software they should be safe. I can see no real way for MS to go after a company that only sells support.
WOW what a very Buddhist frame of thought. Very, very, zazen! I know it is probably not what you meant but it just really jumped out at me. Anyway, I am glad to see real science being respected. I just don't get how someone can read mythology and say this is science. It boggles the mind. There are just far too many sheeple out there.
Well I found all the pieces of it anyway. The flash chip looked intact as did the traces but the interface and the USB plug had broken off. I soldered on a new plug but it was dead. Not a big loss considering I paid about twenty bucks for it.
I think cyber squatting is just as bad as this. You shouldn't get a domain unless you have a use for it. Not just by one hoping to sell at an inflated price later. There should be some sort of price cap on a domain name.
I have had several friends get flagged because they have similar names to someone on the no-fly list. A common problem with Arab names and non Arab people looking at them. With 500+ plus added a day there is no way all these names can be double checked to ensure innocent people are not added. This doesn't make us any safer just inconveniences more people.
I never liked the micro drives for portable devices. I move around a lot and the micro drives tend to die on me. Where as the flash players I have had last well forever so far. The only one that died was one I dropped from 300 feet up while rock climbing.
If MS keeps up these auto updates without user consent they very well may find themselves back in court. I'm not the litigious type but plenty of people are and this is just more fuel for the fire.
That doesn't work in a whole loot of situations. It's great to have good people that can troubleshoot, if you can afford it. Most companies pay for support because it is still cheaper than hiring experts on every piece of software you have. one person can't know it all and if you have tailor software to suit your needs you really have to have support from the people that made it. In some instances in house is good but there are just as many instances where it is just not economical.
If I can see you from the street without climbing a fence, tree or doing something else "out of the ordinary" than don't be surprised where pictures of you end up. It is not an invasion of privacy this woman is just trying to make some noise cause she obviously has nothing better to do with her time. What Google is doing with Streetview is great. I can't wait till they blanket the US. It is so much easier to find a place if you know what you are looking for.
I don't personally listen to mainstream music stations cause I don't like most mainstream music. It just all sounds the same to me, but I still don't agree with the RIAA trying to extort more money out of anyone. These people have a obviously failing business model and are desperate to make money however they can. Unfortunately they have paid the government enough to pretty much have free reign. These stories have become far to common and something should really be done. Unfortunately the only solution I see is that everyone simply stop buying music and let these companies die. When I say everyone I mean absolutely every single person on the planet. Then the RIAA and their ilk would either collapse or change to meet the new demands of society. I know a lot of good people would be out of jobs and some good music wouldn't be heard for quite awhile but it's the only solution I see to ending this madness.
Only by working a job as a laborer. Most all jobs require the use of a computer. If you are forbidden from using one you can't even clock into work at lots of places. With these types of laws going onto affect(effect?) it will be no time till they are busting down our doors because we are reading about piracy or even discussing it. It's ridiculous and goes far beyond protection of copyright. It makes me sock to see how far our once great country has sunk.
If you say something online in a place you don't have the power to delete it. It could be used against you someday. i don't think computers need to forget but people need to learn to watch what they say and what they put online. it's just common sense and i don't think it's going to make us all act like politicos. As far as Americans having a long memory and holding things against people, Bush is a prime example of how that is not completely true. The guy drove drunk and was arrested for it during a time that most cops would just scold you and tell you to go straight home. All the rumors of his coke habit didn't seem to hurt come election time either. But none of that has to do with online comments, pictures, etc. The guy makes some valid points but I seriously doubt anyone's online behavior besides those that are thinking about or are in politics are going to change.
FiOS is great and would be a 1000 times better if they had it in my area. Like most all of us I am always in need of more bandwidth. Hopefully since I already have cable this will be available in my area once it hits the world. I can only keep my fingers crossed.
If more organizations would stand up to these thugs they would eventually stop. We need more people willing to tell these guys to screw themselves. Please excuse the course language but the MAFIAAs just tick me off. To charge these kids 750 a song or 3000 is ridiculous. When I was in college I was lucky if I could scrape together enough cash for dinner much less to pay some over inflated lawsuit that shouldn't exist in the first place. Hopefully someday they will learn to simply change their business model instead of holding fast to a failing one.
Very true but I know plenty of people that will go out and get the latest and greatest despite having the same thing sitting at home. As consumers we love to consume and we do so whether it makes sense or not.
If you are wondering which one just pick any of the multitude of movies that predicted such dire consequences to our current actions. I agree things are probably going to get a lot worse before they get better but people that make these predictions should really have a firm understanding of reality not just statistics and apparently an active imagination. If all the doom sayers were right the world as we know it would never have come to be.
I couldn't disagree with you more. The new format is meant to replace the old not supplement it. I am 99% sure that if/when hd and blu-ray take off that non high def content will be put on them. It is simply a matter of being efficient. Why waste money buy producing thousands of regular dvds when you can make a single disc and still charge the same price? Right now it is better to keep them on regular dvds but once production cost comes down on the other formats be ready to buy all your tv shows over again.
They are still taking customers on. I just went to the site and was able to sign up. I never completed, I stopped short of hitting submit on my cc #. It seems it would only take a phone call to stop the server from taking on new customers. I obviously don't use vonage but I hope they stay in business discount services are a good thing. I know quite a few people who wouldn't have a phone if it weren't for vonage.
Even though Mac has spotlight, it makes perfect sense for Google to make this app available to the Mac users. I'm sure plenty of Mac users aren't happy with spotlight or are just big Google fans and are rejoicing they can finally use Google Desktop.
I completely agree and it has taken to long for this to come to the courts. These animals are highly intelligent and sentient in every sense of the word. They have a sense of identity and are able to communicate in complex languages, i.e. sign language. They have feelings and emotions and express them in the same way we do. Just because we are smarter doesn't mean they should be treated poorly. Since most chimps have the mentality of a small child what would you all say if a mentally challenged human who was stuck at the same level was treated the way they are? Just because we can build things and speak does not mean we have the right to treat all other sentient life like it is a toy or disposable.
I'll bet all the landowners in that area have a very big smile and even bigger if all goes as planned. Wish I had some spare cash I would definitely buy a a big plot of sand.

I would be ok with the price if we at least got the same connection speed countries like South Korea get.

This post may have been a bit vulgar but a valid point was made. It's not flamebait and if I had mod points I would correct it.
