  1. Better GUI or Forget about it. on Amazon Prime Video Has More Movies, But Netflix Has Higher-Rated Films, Study Says (usatoday.com) · · Score: 1

Amazon has probably the worst interface on PC to get to their movies. Most apps to search are much better but not great. Until they fix the GUI the video that comes with Amazon Prime is just a bonus to the shipping option. Just copy Netflix and be done with it already!

  2. This will just cause people to not update and decrease web security as a whole. There is no way I am updating my browser if it is going to break my Adblock.

  4. I was seriously considering getting a Pixel 3. This decision made that real easy. If Google wants to start down the proprietary road they will do it without me.

  5. Only in the USA (almost) on Citing 'Moral Requirement To Make Money', Pharma CEO Jacks Drug Price 400% (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 3

Almost all major world powers limit the amount drug companies are allowed to charge. This is exactly why! I don"t give a shit about freedom or capitalism when it comes to life-saving procedures and medicines. This should be illegal and no one should make a profit on suffering. People that think this is acceptable are garbage people, in my opinion.

  6. You get what you allow on Nintendo Shuts Down Tool Used To Build Pokemon Fan Games (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 1

If you don't like it stop buying their stuff. I have. It wasn't easy. I grew up with Nintendo. I love Nintendo games. I will not ignore the fact that they do ugly shit like this on a regular basis. They attack fans and abuse a broken copyright system. I won't support that behavior. Many do this but Nintendo is the most aggressive and abusive. If enough people said enough is enough and actually stopped buying. Nintendo's tactics would change. It always comes down to money and if it proves unprofitable they will quit.

  7. Multiple Issues on Ask Slashdot: Why Did You Quit Your Last Job? · · Score: 1

I was hired by a small IT company that supported small Mom and Pop shops, small dental offices and retail stores of various types. I was hired to streamline support and create documentation to make support more uniform. I was soon tasked with a list of quick and dirty patch jobs for various clients. The owner regularly promised more than could be provided by the small team. This created mass amounts of stress and lots of angry calls from customers.

The second issue was the boss's temper. He would often come into the office in a rage over something that happened outside the office. He would then yell and scream at the people in the office for minor delays or mistakes. Often the delays he was yelling about were delays he caused. Either by telling someone to wait or not getting his portion of the task done in time.

I quit as soon as I found another job. Actually, a week or so prior till the other job was official but stress was just too high.

  8. So it is ok to send teenagers off to war but sending in a robot is somehow not ethical? Maybe these people are not as smart as they think they are.

  9. If they get it built I hope they expand to include more cities. Gettting to go from Boston to NY quickly would be great. Would much rather jump on this than a plane.

  13. More pointless pseudo-security that makes no one safer. I have forgotten my pocket knife multiple times and walked right on the plane with no problem. The whole idea that AA and AAA batteries can't have a big enough charge to bring down a plane is laughable. I have only a little experience with electronics and explosives and I could easily create something that used button cell batteries and had more than enough power to disable a plane. A trained bomb-making expert could do even better. At this rate, we will be forbidden to bring a potato on the plane since they could be used as a battery.

This makes no one safer just makes flying more inconvenient. Now I only fly when I absolutely have to. It might take an extra day to drive but I rather do that at this point than deal with the airport. This just gives me one more reason to avoid it.

I know the first time my phone automatically turns off I will cancel the service and get another phone that doesn't. I do turn my phone to silent in movie theaters as all good movie goers should. This is a free country and people have the choice to leave it on and be ass hats if they want to.

All that on top of the fact this is just ridiculous and hopefully won't get patented as prior art is definitely already out there.

The only deal they have with Apple is for a single device. I don't see any good reason for AT&T not to join in. This is disappointing since they are my provider. If this platform turns out well I may be changing providers when it comes time to renew my contract. AT&T by the way has snubbed Google on most if not all of their devices. The phones they have come with pre-installed messenger apps and email notification and Google apps are not supported. The best you get is a download for gtalk but it is not integrated so you have to be "online" to use it. The others simple work without having to have the app open. AT&T has gone down hill since they started advertising fewest drop calls. That is when mine started dropping like mad and most of the people I know with service from them have had the same.

The plot sounds great and could be a really good show. Unfortunately like a few others have stated his shows often teeter out. Many people blame him for this but I think this is unfair. It could be him or it could be the fat cats at the networks dictating what happens next cause that is what they want to see. We will never know which but I hope this turns out well. I'll be sure to download at least the first few episodes to see how it plays out.
