I'm not terribly averse to some sort of humor type stuff on/.
(I'm not saying it's a great idea either)
However, I think it should either be done well or not done at all. This really doesn't reflect the sensibilities or intellect of your audience, Taco. And no, I'm not new here.
I say again, hire a funny, geek-centric comedy writer or pleasestop.
After seeing Iron Man this morning (in before "slashvertisement) I couldn't help but picture a bald version of The Dude reading this summary to the press.
"If they were honest in their naming then perhaps it would be call Cyber Attack Command."
No, I think they would drop the fucking CYBER altogether. Seriously, I can't be the only person who thinks this is utterly ridiculous. They may as well call it The Mighty Morphin' Matrix Marines.
One one hand I want to find this fascinating, but it kinda seems horribly sad (in b4 "must be new here"). I mean, you do realize that outside in the big world music (the best of which you simply aren't going to find in a LCD medium like console gaming) functions much the same way, right? Music is fairly ubiquitous IRL, and aside from the appeal of one taste or style versus another is usually reinforced by "experiences, settings, and characters". That your appreciation of something so broad and potentially enriching as music is defines solely by what video games you're staring at (meaning cross promotional tie-ins)while the rest of us are living out life is just... well, horrifying, frankly.
I'm sure this comes off as terribly elitist or pretentious to some of you, but if thats the case I'd at least ask you to consider what ratio of your interests are simply being dictated to you by media corps. Yikes.
I'm going to burn some karma here to point out that this thing appears to have been designed BY A FUCKING RETARD. I've seen more tasteful case mods at the fucking flea market.
DwarfGoanna of the Slashdot.org has an interesting story about how fewer and fewer people believe that infringement is wrong. He mentions talks he gave back in 2005 where people were willing to believe that making backups of DVDs you own is wrong. Today, however, at his talks, he was only able to get two people out of a crowd of five hundred college students to say that downloading a movie or album is wrong. He goes on, like many before him, to bemoan the immorality of young people today, saying: 'I do know, though, that the TV, movie and record companies' problems have only just begun. Right now, the customers who can't even *see* why file sharing might be wrong are still young. But 10, 20, 30 years from now, that crowd will be *everybody*. What will happen then?'"
What's really funny about this sort of thing is how, not all that long ago*, Macs were anything but cool here on slashdot. Granted, the OS was flaky, but even talking up the neato hardware or rock solid interface would get you laughed out of here. It's been an amazing transformation to watch Mac derision turn into Mac backlash.
It's easy. The Netspeak translation would be:
Mark Cuban is a Troll IRL.
No mod points today, but this is the best thing I've seen on /. all week.
C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!
(sorry, but what else are you going to do in an idle thread?)
When I get modded troll or flamebait, I like to think of it as a trophy...
This is exactly why I use Overrated so often. =)

If you want to fix your toilet, don't hire an electrician.
If you want to rewire your house, don't hire a landscaper.
If you want humorous content on slashdot, maybe you should hire a fucking comedy writer.
I have faith. Duh.
That does not imply ours was created by a giant invisible bearded guy.
Or alternately, call Apple stores asking when they can pre-order Battletoads for the Mac.
This is assuming said future generations possess our current level of technology. I'm not sure if that's a safe bet at all.
Um.... LURK MOAR.
This made me Laugh Out Loud. Today's mods should LURK MOAR.
No mod points today, but you sir, win an internet.

*okay, maybe I'm dating myself there.
in b4 "what the hell is this", -1 Offtopic, etc. =)
You can clean out your desk on Monday.
If I had points today, I'd correct this injustice.
AC, you would have gotten my mod points today, if I had any.
It's common knowledge that Cory Doctorow has never written an interesting article.
That's funny, because I didn't notice it at all.
