1: No, it's about abuse of powers. 2: Well, yea, but could have been about irc or what you say at the park just as easily. 3: So absolutely not. ..it's about what they can do on their own network. He's complaining that they have a policy that he was breaking and they enforced it. It was their decision to give the guy GM powers. It was their policies. Of course, for this same reason, we shouldn't be complaining about him. It's OSDN's site and they put him in charge. He can whine all he wants here and we either listen or don't.
I just find it ironic that he'ld foist his problems on us. ..like we care.
Rob, You vote with your money. You say you disagree and don't like it, yet you continue giving them your money. Despite your big whiney complaint, you have OKed their policies. Your EQ quitting friend had it right. He took said "I don't agree so you don't get my money". You say "You get my money, so I agree.".
Sorry. Your complaint is lost on me, I have no sympathy for you.
I was off googling for halloween stuff to build and building it. ..a bunch of automated stuff and some air ram powered effects run off a small keychain remote, a fog chiller for low lying fog, and some other fun stuff. ..amazing what google and a very small bit of creativity can accomplish.
Scary? You want scary? I've got scary. ..present yourself as idiots who can't use google, that's pretty damn scary! Sheesh, I've been reading Halloween haunting sites for years, all of which I found from google. . .
So, to *actually* help you, here's an idea: go use google.
I read this in the first paragraph and decided the rest isn't worth it:
At the heart of OSS is a wonderful idealistic notion that appeals to our caring, sharing side. The OSS vision is of a world in which there are no greedy corporations run by megalomaniac billionaires intent on screwing users out of their hard-earned cash in return for bloated, unstable, insecure software which only operates properly with other products from the same manufacturer and has laughable customer support.
Someone should inform this guy that Stallman's view of OSS isn't the heart of it.
Not only was he "misquoted", he never even made any statements to the effect. The quote was entirely fictious. Here's the Reuters story:
Inventor: I never used dead cats for fuel
I've recently started a new site designed for professional Open Source collaboration. Treffpunkt (http://www.treffpunktsystems.com/) has a suite of tools that is designed for professional development teams to manage their projects, track time and tickets, and even use a wiki and file storage for sharing notes and files, such as specs and documentation. Though it may not be exactly what you're looking for, it is Open Source Software and mean for Open Source developers.
Or could we make a simpler suggestion: How about some people start taking some responsibility for their own computer's security? I mean, how many of these people live in crime ridden neighborhoods and leave their doors open and cars unlocked only to complain when things get stolen? I'm betting none. See they've taken some responsibility for their own security, they moved to places with less crime and purchased locks for their doors. And when locks alone don't work, they don't whine about it, they instead get alarm systems. Same thing applies to your computers.
. ..don't make us want to block them. I thought that was pretty simple.

Oh Yea. ..Necessity is the mother of invention. Had he remembered that then he would realize that the source of innovation in a 100% Open Source world would be new things that are required and not some desired cash as things stand now. Personally, I would rather see things being innovated because I NEED them, not because some company wants to put a "New and Improved" sticker on a box to justify a price raise.
maybe you should have used your additional 23s to find http://www.csc.noaa.gov/opis/html/summary/ts.htm where noaa mentions reagan signing the 12 mile territorial claim in 1988 giving the US full sovereignty over that area. this was part of the 200 mile claim over fisheries and other rights.
"International Waters" has been 12 nautical miles for like 40 years now. I'm not even going to go look for links since I bet that 30s and google will tell you that.
If they say the Web or the Internet then they'ld be wrong. The internet was started 35 years ago by DARPA and the Web, while ostensibly "invented" in the early 90's was actually just an application of the the hyptertext idea which was invented in the 1950s. The verification of this data is left as an excercise to the reader.
I don't know, I've had this one http://www.gyration.com/ultragt-compact.htm for nearly two years. I love the compact keyboard as it works very well for my very short and stubby fingers. However, I remember buying and thinking "Hmmm. how hard will this be to make work". I plugged in the usb receiver, rebooted and added USB HID to my X configuration and it worked immediately.
Maybe SuSE is just better? (Figured I would get an ad in on an ad)
See, what confuses me is that other felons aren't allowed to profit from their felonies. That's why drug dealer's houses and cars and boats are taken away. But, these execs still get to keep what they earned during the time they were committing their felonies (minus the 3 months pay they're being fined). I guess it's just more proof that crime does pay.
Reading my URL you'll see I posted about this friday (Oct/8/2004) morning. ..A few hours after posting it, I got an email from a headhunter about a sysadmin job opening at the ODJFS! I cracked up.
Microsoft's failure to deliver their WinFS that does all this stuff they claim sounds like a call should go out to OSS developers to delevop this thing in GPL before MS does. ..Beat them at their own game once and see what the world thinks.

Now that I think about it, maybe I shouldn't tell him he's wrong. . .he'll probably abuse his power some more and ban me or something. . .

It's meant to be an easy to use single point of contact for all of any given developer's projects, regardless of who the client may be. Peter George over at Logicalware (http://www.logicalware.com/ and http://logicalware.blogspot.com/2005/07/treffpunk
seems to agree with its ease of use philosophy, "Treffpunkt convinces me of its usability within five minutes, and I'm sold."

In fact, after a bit of number crunching and using Wikipedia's list of population densities and using their numbers as quoted (ie. the first assumtion here of $150k over the 5 year period) I come up with a cost of about a buck a person a month in NYC. I'm wondering how that isn't worth it. . .Though, I can see how that would be an extremely profitable business plan.
