    The official word people:

The companies also disclosed that Sony Online had acquired Warner's "The Matrix Online" game. All 25 staff members currently operating the subscription-based massively multiplayer online game have been offered their existing position under the new ownership.

Sega of America will continue to manage distribution of "The Matrix Online," while Warner will oversee content development and relinquish operational involvement. Ubisoft withdrew from its involvement with the property in early 2004.

What exactly this means for Live Events, I don't know. I would imagine they'll still exist, but with SOE's attitude, I dunno how good they'll be.

  3. WB & Monolith.... on Matrix Online Sold To SOE? · · Score: 1

I thought about a year or so ago, Jason Hall (CEO of Monolith) came on in charge of WBE and then WB promptly purchased Monolith. I can only assume this was a pre-arranged deal to do with MxO as it was under development for several years, so Monolith was expecting something for the work.

I don't belive WB would just spit Monolith & the Matrix name out to there arch rival so soon after launch, I'm almost sure they'd rather it die before doing this.

I sure do hope anyways, cause god I hate SOE.

  4. Expresso on Where is the Killer Calendar? · · Score: 1

For my own use, I don't need anything connected to anything else, so I use a 11 year old copy of Expresso by Berkley Systems (Yes, the After Dark guys), as it has a calander with various views, a to-do list and a names and numbers list, with an alarm facility, and the best bit is when you close it it 'snapshots' itself into a background bitmap, so I can see it all day, when I don't have anything open.

It has themes, and does everything I want, using about 3 Mb ram. I wonder if it was ever updated, or newer versions released. My says C 93 - 94.

UO definatly has this, and I would have assumed other MMO games to be the same, with the game account being compleatly seperate to the game itself. The guy purchased the game WoW, but from the sound of it DIDN'T purchase the account. I have multiple copies of the various UO's at home (myself and my wife play) and I could easily sell 'the game' and happily keep the account.

Sound's like this guy got taken by a slick conman. I assume the purchaser involved didn't know these facts about MMO's and assumed the game would let him in.
