Well don't you sound like an anti-social recluse. Just because someone has pictures of themselves having fun on a website doesn't mean they'll be a "chatty fool". How can you generalize like that? Like the other poster said, people can easily turn into "work mode" or "have fun mode". I myself am an Engineer and like to go out after work and don't go annoucing at work. There's also the simple way of telling someone to STFU when they're blabbering if you need to get work done.

Also people that do this stuff are usually in college or high school. What do you expect from them?

  3. Nothing new.... on Best Buy Working Towards Ending Mail-in Rebates · · Score: -1

Staples has been doing this for awhile now. When I ordered a few sticks of RAM on black friday I was able to enter my rebate codes even before the item was shipped. I got my check a few weeks ago so the turn around time wasn't that bad 5 weeks I'm going to guess. It was a really easy process, I didn't have to photocopy the invoice 100 times and send it to different places or have to worry about hitting the right deadlines, it was nice.

What do you mean by that? Microsoft could have easily said the same thing when it came to consoles before they started. Now look at them, they are a huge competitor in the console market. Gotta put up the dough to be successful.

Is it really a bad thing to bring up the problems? I thought this was a very good idea when I read the article but I've also seen some very interesting and good ideas on how this could fail that I would not have thought of myself. Hearing others' opinions on the product could expose some of the other flaws with the design that perhaps even the engineer's didn't think of.

BTW, I like the new slashcode.

  9. Did anyone even read the transcript? on Mom, and Now Judge, Stand Up to RIAA · · Score: 0

The judge really didn't stand up to the RIAA, they just told the defendant to come back in 60 days with a lawyer.

I have no idea how the legal system works but, this whole thing seems to be an advertisment for the lawyer mentioned in the script. Is it customary to have that in there or is someone just trying to get publicity?

However if the creator of the program created the program to specifically hack people and cause damage than he is guilty for whatever the users do, as well as the ones who use the program.

  24. Opera vs. Firefox on Which is Better, Firefox or Opera? · · Score: -1

The whole arguement really doesn't matter to me. You know why? Because I use both browsers. I use Opera for casual browsing; Java and Javascript turned off, no plug-ins, no sound, very sctrict cookie rules, and every security option enabled. Everytime a site doesn't work, like if it uses one of those options I disabled in Opera or just don't render good with Opera, I switch to Firefox. Firefox has most things enabled that I need, plugins and extensions to get a bunch of other stuff done.

It's rare that a site doesn't work in Opera, it's just the horribly designed ones that don't. I sometimes go for days without switching to Firefox, it's nice to know that some websites out there don't use all the new fangled crap like java, javascript and FLASH (especially flash).

It's stupid this whole thing has turned into a pissing contest. Why not use as many browsers as possible?
