Asterix is a popular French cartoon character. They love him in France the way they don't love Mickey Mouse. Unlike Jerry Lewis (also beloved of the French), Asterix is actually cool.
The majority of Asian Russia is called "Siberia". Siberia is entirely within Asia. Asian Russia is indeed all Asian (that is almost a tautology). In fact, a significant percentage of Asian land is part of Russia.
Ugh. Microsoft everywhere. MSNBC.....America inevitably allows them to control every medium
Have you ever watched MSNBC? Hardly anyone does. It's pretty much a failure. It's not even a real "Cable news channel", as they fill so much of their schedule with recycled fluff such as multi-hour celebrity profiles drawn from old "Today" show material. That net is in the fish-flops of death right now.
They can show us this, but they still can't show us the fillagried balconies on all the ornate buildings of Cydonia, or even a more detailed image of the Face of Elvis!. Come on, where are you priorities, NASA?
Almost forgot about this one: David Crane's "Ghostbusters", as mentioned in the item.
Anyone else play this one? It usually worked OK, but was plagued with occasional Commodore 64 sprite glitches. The 'Buster's ambulance would sometimes appear as a graphic mess that looked like a picket fence in front of a flowering hedge....going down the road. The Hedge Trimmer, we called it. When when it moved from side to side, it did not erase itself.
Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus (or Ballblaster and Behind Jagglines) were excellent in their design and playability.
The "scariest videogame moment" for me to this day is what happens when a guy you are trying to rescue in "Jagglines" turns out to be a monster and smashes the windshield of the spaceships.
A sequel to "Ballblazer" came out during the 1990s, but I never heard if it was any good. Any word on this one?
Yet, you have to admit that the show had too many of the "Data and Geordi try to figure out strange particles/emissions/transmissions/apparitions" type.
TOS: A scientist (who lives alone except for his beautiful daughter) is conducting dangerous energy experiments.
TNG: Don't worry, it will be figured out in the last 15 minutes. Data and Geordi right now are trying to trace the source of unknown photocron emissions that were detected at the beginning of the episode.
DS9: You already mentioned the race of celestial beings.
Voyager: Whoever it is, I wonder if they want to eat some of Neelix's leftover burnt Antarean alpha-truffles
And if you want real luxury, buy your mom a decent record player and listen to the unsurpassed warm analog sound of all those vintage records you can buy second hand at one tenth of the price of a cd.
"In a Godda SNAP Davida SIZZLE baby POP POP. Don't ya POP SNAP SIZZLE you. In a TSSS CRACK David POP baby SNAP SNAP be POP"
Warm sound, yeah. Makes you think of bacon on a hot griddle.
It just has to get in line behind flouridation, Dennis Kucinich, and hemp.
Same goes if you all played Pong. You would not have these problems with that game, either.
99% of everything is sturgeon.
I thought it was because those Russians left the door open after they argued over the sturgeon and tossed it out.
The Pentagon TIA system. You don't even have to ask, and it backs up all your data.
"Re:If a guy breaks into your house, make him a her"
Read the title for once.
French love Mickey Mouse more than Asterix from what I can see too
Living at the bottom of a troll-cave as you do, you can't see much:
"France has a park dedicated to Asterix The Gaul, which gets 3 times as many visitors as EuroDisney, and it makes lots of money." [blogspot]
Re: Jerry Lewis: See The Straight Dope
That is the funniest post of the France Asterux sub-thread. I'd glady turn over my +5 mod points to this comic genius.

Asian Russia (Siberia) is European not Asian.
The majority of Asian Russia is called "Siberia". Siberia is entirely within Asia. Asian Russia is indeed all Asian (that is almost a tautology). In fact, a significant percentage of Asian land is part of Russia.
You are correct about the Soviet Union, however.
After this is successful, this Oriental version of Linux will be combined with the one being developed for the Czech Republic.
We wish the new "Rice-Chex" project much success.
And expecially for France, we will have Asterux.

Will this thing do "region-free" with a few menu commands? That's a must for me. "Turn off macrovison" is nice, but less crucual.
Do you mean Tarkus?. The treads are hell on stairs, though.

Can you still play Tapper on the Tapper?
How about the Microsoft Sidewinder joystick, full sized, with an interface for the phone? Takes portable gaming to a new level.
We have to take advantage of these great 3d graphics somehow.
I maybe a cloth-eared nincompoop, but CD's have always sounded MUCH better than records to me.
:)
My copy of Iron Butterfly does happen to be a very scratchy one, too
