Does anyone have any idea why the University of Arizona's solar car, winner of the American Solar Challenge's stock class, is not entered in the Australian race?
Has the record player really been around for 200 years already? Wow. It's a shame that giant asteroid had to come along and break that 200 year old record. An antique like that should have been on display at the Smithsonian (or at least auctioned off on eBay).
He mentioned that he only used the versions that came with Mandrake 8.0. That means that all packages were optimized for i585. Still his hardware was rather low-end, as I'm not sure it even meets the mandrake minimun specs. Furthermore, Mandrake 8.0 does not ship with the most up-to-date versions. I beliee it comes with Mozilla.8. It's only since 0.9.3 that Mozilla has lived up to its promise. It has NEVER crashed on my Linux or Windows 2000 machine (neither has IE5.5 sp2 either). I find it kind of funny that in Windows, Mozilla renders the Hotmail interface quicker than IE. I wonder if Microsft has noticed this (Shhhh. don't tell them or they'll mess with it on purpose, I'll bet) The Linux version of Opera is not quite as evolved yet as the Windows version (Gasp!), which is one of the fast browsers around.
Until this story I had never heard of this before. I now think that it is the probable explanation for why I was once able to briefly pick up KRPC - Channel 2 from Houston from my home in Tucson, AZ. I was never able to reproduce it, so nobody believed me when I described it. Ha, now I know the truth.

Actually, caffeine is regulated as an illegal drug in the Olympics. I know for sure that there are limits placed on track and field runners because it can be a performance enhancing drug when used "correctly". There will be no enhancing effect for the sprints or the really long runs, but for the mid-distance events, studies have shown that caffeine can produce a boost.

bash? ssh? What about us korn fans? We shouldn't be discriminated against just because the music sucks.
Great. You had to go and violate copyright laws by posting the lyrics to that song on this board. How will you feel if Slashdot now gets sued for millions of dollars?;)
You has 8-bit computers, with DOS, and 4 colors?!?
Back in MY day all we had were big rocks. And we sat around and watched the rocks because you just never knew what those rocks might do. Them rocks are tricky like that.
Congrats to the open class and overall winner team, the University of Michigan.
Nobody on here has yet mentioned the stock class where significant monetary and technology limits were placed on the cars. So, I must of course congratulate the University of Arionza, who won the stock class by more than 20 hours.

How does this change Pluto's role?
Well, Pluto will no longer be eligible for the lead planet Oscar. From now on, it will have to make do with the category of best supporting planet.

Should I submit a bug report on the 2.2 code because this guy is still around? I was really hoping thay'd have it fixed by now.
Darn... I was hoping one of the new features in banjo was to block this guy.

After all, we've already got Microsoft.
NASA breaking an altitude record?
I suppose it's better than breaking a Mars probe.

What I want to know is what supercomputer wins the award for congeniality?

You kids have it too easy these day... Bah!
Now that is a quality troll! I don't think I've ever seen a troll get moderated up to +5 before.
1... 2... 3... Ding, Ding, Ding. And it's all over already.
Wow, only 9 posts and the site's down already. A new record?
I think in Quake IV you should have to fight that big Soviet guy who killed Apollo.
Finally, the Rock has come back to Slashdot.
I can't wait for Code Red IV...
I really liked the first three, and I hear that in part IV, Code Red fights the big Soviet after Apollo gets killed by him.
To bad Code Red part V, will inevitably suck.
It had to be done by someone...
Natalie Portman stars in "Attack of the Hot Grits"

Please tell me that George Lucas is trying to win a bet by actually coming up with a worse title than the "Phantom Menace."
My suggested bad title:
"Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Anakin Skywalker but were Afraid to Ask."
Did anyone else get the feeling that they were watching Crouching Rhesus, Hidden Chimpanzee?
Charlton Heston has a cameo as a damn, dirty ape. He talks about guns. Big surprise. I guess what they say is true about art imitating life.
Ah Yes, but in the stupidity lies the true genius.
Finally, the Rock has come back to Slashdot.

Doesn't this sound like a Darwin Award waiting to happen?
Finally, the Rock has come back to Slashdot.
"Go Blue" is a traditional University of Mighigan cheer.
Therefore, since the race is in the past, one might say that Blue "went".
