You could even make a Linux destribution, I believe will be very popular. I am ask to build exactly these machines all the time, but I did not manage to reach a right balance with Linux, so like a dumb ass I install Windows Media PC.

I have it for 7 years allready. 70% of my friends have a PC in the Leaving room. Infact since last year, no one I know have a stand alown DVD, since they breaks so fast. They all have a PC, for: Music, DVD, Video-Recording, Skype, Photos screen saver, Kids games when lots of kids come and they get to use the living room. So no I do not know what you are talking about

VMWare Hosted on Windows could also have that "access to the Hypervisor subsystem of a Windows Longhorn machine" and still have an overall better integrated/served product. It is not a long term advantage.

In both cases MS sells One License for a Server OS (and any additional Client licenses if Terminal Server is used) So why should it matter if Linux or Windows is the Host? They should enable Both. Having only one option may eliminate potential sales and does not make marketing sense.

And the capacity of the roads are the bandwidth. and the need to go through a series of junctions, to get from one place to another. And the main roads, and the back roads. Only that the time on the line is negligible and the only thing that matter is the load on the junction (and the junction speed maybe) and that when the junction/(line) gets over capacity the truck is destroyed and another identical truck gets sent it its place, doubling the average amount of trucks on the road. So it comes down to only kill the trucks with the ugly face driver.
Last year When I went to USA, I cut down on my phone bill by walking around with a Toshiba PDA, and Skype to Israel when ever I was in a coffee shop, at the Hotel, or when I was at the conference hall I was attending. (AOL had a Wifi coverage of the conference). Also when Family and other people wanted to reach me all they needed is to Skype me, and I'd pick it up pretty fast. I had set up Skype-out and it was grate. Maybe next time I would even set up a skype-in with an American phone-number.
So Yes it will be very nice to have this every where.

What Gamers? The Sims 2 Game will not play on Dual-Processor Machines. My daughter has a Dual PIII 900MGz PC and SIMS will not play. It deadlocks right on start. One good thing about it is that now she knows how to Go to Process-Explorer (Sysinternals replacement for TaskManager) and set the Affinity of SIMS2.EXE to use only one CPU. And we had a long talk about multi CPU/CORE computing and how it is done. And we had a long talk about computers in General. But still a company like SIMS2's releasing a one CPU game. I can't even start to describe what I feel. Shame on you SIMS2.
Duh! 3000 test machines, right! The all double booting is for Novel management to cover their ass. Since it is clear they are all using Windows, and the Double booting, Linux is the Bastard OS. it goes like this: "Boss I played with Linux all morning, can I get back to work now?"

Funny you say so. About 15 years ago Just when I started working after school. Me and a colleague (I'm a SW guy, he was an Electrical engineer) Have built a Smart home. We prototyped a Device that would sit between the Power block and the wall, like you said. The device communicated over Power lines to a central (decoupled) PC (XT at the time). each device had a 7 bit ID and an on/off command. The program had a map of ID's to devices like TV, Hot watter boiler, washing machine, lights, and so on. The PC program would keep that there will not be any situation that the grid is over loaded. It had some primitive sensors that would turn off the lights when you leave a room, or turn them on when you come home. It would make sure you have hot watter in the morning and all kind of fun stuff like that. The hardest time we had was with each room controls (Set of switches and display) that communicated to main PC (Also over power lines). I guess today it would be easier. The thing that triggered this Idea was that communication over power-lines chip we found so you do not need to rewire your house. Not sure if they make them anymore. That would be good for your case. We tried to get Investors. but it never go off the ground and we never really solved all the little problems before we dropped it all.
