    Serious question.

I know some people bought the apple watches when they came out. But do people still have a use for them?

For me, it is a fantastic fitness tool for running, cycling and hiking.

It is also very useful to change the volume on my Sonos loudspeakers.

But for the rest ? I don't care about notifications, I already receive too many on my phone.

    YMMV

The explanation for the difference ? My guess is the sugar; in China, you find very little sugar in food.

  8. The 32bit x86 version of MacOS was very short lived and was arguably a mistake... Availability of 64bit PPC hardware to run OSX predates the 32bit x86 version, so they actually took a step backwards. The only non 64bit x86 macs are the very first model laptops, IIRC even the first gen mac pro was 64bit from the start.

Apple should never have supported 32bit x86 at all, and should have moved directly from PPC64 to x86_64.

It was in 2007, right ? I find this acceptable. Hindsight 20/20, you know.

However, I can't find any good excuse to Microsoft for releasing Windows 10 in 32bit in 64bit in 2015.

  9. I'm going to get modded down to oblivion, but I'm going to say something good about Uber. I don't use it much in the US, but used to live in Manila, Philippines and travel there about once per year. Having Uber there has been a godsend for me.

I also only use Uber abroad; when you don't know the local habits or rules, it is very reassuring to use a service that you know.

The problem today is not that a new standard is coming, but that I can't figure yet what is the safe choice for the next 5-10 years. Until then, I will stick to the 3.5 mm jack and dongles.

  21. I've been trying to use firefox again due to privacy concerns with Chrome. I've been really frustrated by the poor performance, despite the new multi-process. I just realized, now that there's a GUI (performance panel) that I multi-process wasn't enabled because I had a single legacy addon. I disabled that addon and now FireFox is MUCH faster. I know everyone hates that the legacy addons are going away--and I do think FireFox needs to do something about this--support them longer, fund development of the most popular addons, something... but MultiProcess FF is amazingly faster than before. I would never want to go back...

I don't think that this is correct; I have one "legacy" add-on (AdBlock), but my FireFox is running with multiple processes. Maybe you also switched the "Use recommended performance settings" options in Options => General ?
