I think Apple (or some third party) should come out with a remote with LCD display, that will allow access to menu functions, like the remote on the iRiver or MiniDisc players. That way, one could keep the iPod in a backpack or something and still be able to change settings without digging the thing out of the bag. I used to do this years ago with my MiniDisc player and it worked great.
I'm in the same boat. I got a 15GB iPod about 10 days ago because of the Cram and Jam promotion (the promo is only for ppl who qualify for the edu discount). I'm going to call my local Apple store (where I bought it, with my new iBook... mmm, iBook...) and see if they'll let me trade it in for the new 20GB, which is the same price.
Does "Cram and Jam" sound like a Jackie Treehorn production, or is it just me?;)
So how will they make this fit with the Classic Trek episode Balance of Terror, in which we learned that no human ever saw the face of a Romulan during the Romulan Wars?
They'll probably just "forget" that ever was mentioned, like they "forgot" Spock saying that WWIII took place in 1997, during TOS episode with the first appearance of KHAAAAAAAAN!!!!
A one-port hub is what you plug a loose/unused network cable into (where the other end is still plugged into the wall). The one-port hub plugs the potential network leak so the token ring doesn't fall out of the ethernet.

Damn, I think it's time for the weekend to start. I read that subject as "ATARI 800XL" and was like "wtf?"
Heh, a quote from bash.org discusses an idea about this... of course, he/she was joking, but maybe the idea could be expanded somehow...
gee-1: we should market heart monitor devices that're like implanted. so if you die, it'll remotely run a program, to like make your computer log in, get on irc, and msg your friends that you're dead
This opens up the market for 3rd-party iPod cases with exploding dye packs, like banks use when they get robbed. Good luck trying to sell a bright-pink-stained iPod!;)
I've been using Word 5.1a on an old Apple PowerBook 180 to write papers. It does everything I need. Then I discovered the free version of Nisus Writer and use that now too. Of course, neither is open source, but they get the job done on a laptop worth $20 that can be used outside in the sun without the screen washing out:)

Yep, they'll let me exchange my 3rd gen 15GB for the 4th gen 20GB.
:)

meh, I won't be impressed until they harness this technology to create a real-life Catdog!
Just steal your sig like everyone else does.
....oh, you mean special interest groups... dunno

Its in your head, and it can't be checked at the door.
With the appropriate management situation, it may be NECESSARY, for your sanity, to check your head in at the door.
Adventure, excitement; a Jedi craves not these things.
those had better be barrels of moonshine...
Franz not Frans
;)
You are correct. "Frans" brings up the image of a very beefy woman with man-hands
Good thing this was written by a student who is NOT a US citizen or she would probably be prosecuted under the DMCA.
I think you mean: "Listen to me now, and hear me later!"
;)
We are Hans and Frans, and we're going to PUMP YOU UP!

Easier way: Measure a full case of cans. Record the results. Any case that differs from that result will be your baby.
They probably add weights to the phone-can to make it weigh the same as a regular 12oz can.
Maybe they'll do a Fox special on it.
Hosted by Rike^H^H^H^H Jonathan Frakes?
hah, I'd forgotten about that story. I need to re-read all the Niven books I read in middle school. meatspace slashdotting. Awesome. :)
Why, oh why, do they continue to insist on beating this dead horse into the dust?
Because each time they whack the horse's corpse, it coughs up another wad of hundred-dollar bills.
Long live TNG on DVD.
I agree. I need to invest. TNG was the best series by far.

I dunno about you, but I prefer to spend the day shooting and killing people WHILE making love and having sex!
