The problem with that is the lack of recourse that the band has compared to the recording cartel. They'd keep the case in court for so long, the band would probably be bankrupt before they could see any settlement.
I saw the movie. But it doesn't change my opinion one way or the other. You see, I don't let things like documentaries with bleating leftists influence my thinking anymore than I let the bleating right-wing media think for me. The anti-Bush movement has been marketed to death just as much as the "War On Terror (tm)" has, and much of the country has been influenced by the bombardment of crap from both sides.
People really need to learn to check facts and think for themselves. Yeah, I may appear to sound a bit arrogant, but I learned years ago to think for myself. If that makes me a "contrarian" and "not part of the mainstream", so be it. The emotional spew designed to make me feel guilty has no effect on me.
I'm a real estate appraiser, and we type out our reports in all caps. Due to the amount of work we do and the nature of our reporting, typing in caps just makes things a whole lot easier.
Destroyed by logic and reason. Good show, old chap!
I'm surprised the words "liberal" or "leftist" weren't used, although the ephitets(sp) "anti-capitalist" and "hippy" [sic] were. Typical spew from someone who probably listens to too much Hannity or Limbaugh or other one-sided wackos and doesn't do enough thinking for themselves.
"Let's go way back now, and be honest: what's the first videogame that you remember that had a plot worth remembering?"
Robotron.
(Paraphrasing the game here): It is the future. It's 2084 AD, to be precise, and that wacky species, the humans, have somehow managed to engineer a series of robots that are so incredibly intelligent, that they, the Robotrons, have decided to wipe us, the humans, out. By genetic defect, you have superhuman powers. Save the last of the human race and destroy the robotrons.
Or something to that effect. That's the first story in a game that I remember, and that was 1982.
There are a couple of machines manufactured that play classic games via emulation, and I believe that the games themselves are either licensed or no suitable copyright owner could be found. Ultracade is one of them (site requires Flash and is annoying as hell; visit this site for a picture of the cabinet and description). I *believe* that there is another, but I cannot remember the name of it now.
And then there is the venreable ArcadeControls.Com with a hundred or so examples of home-built MAME machines.
I believe that Ralph Baer's Odyssey prototype was built in 1966. But the first interactive "video" game was actually Willy Higginbotham's Tennis For Two, built in 1958 on an oscilloscope. It wasn't a true video game, but I believe it was the first of its kind in interactive CRT entertainment (until I am otherwise proven wrong).
Social welfare accounts for approximately 50 billion dollars in taxpayer money a year. Corporate welfare accounts for approximately 150 billion of our hard-earned dollars a year, which the corporations take and then say "Sayanara! We're moving to China!"
If you need a site, I'll be happy to dig one up for you.
You want to complain about welfare? Start making noise about corporate welfare!
This is a great idea for those of us who find certain aspects of Linux a bit daunting. Between outdated HOWTOs and sometimes cryptic MAN pages, newbies such as myself can get a bit frustrated.
My hope is that this database doesn't grow out of control with redundant and/or meaningless data.
There was a time when video games were a one man process. You can read about one such programmer at the website that I maintain, The World Of Owen Rubin. Owen wrote a number of classic coin-operated arcade games while working at Atari and Sente.
... so it was real easy for me to quit. I drank the equivalent of two pots a day for years. Then one day, I started feeling sick constantly. Not just physically; I started to think I was going mad. The daily panic attacks and anxiety took its toll on me after a year or so; I had lost 20 pounds and had a very hard time getting through the day without having some thoughts of suicide. It never occured to me that it was the caffeine that was causing the symptoms.
Finally, after two years of not being able to work or basically function, I saw a doctor. Turns out that my extreme caffeine addiction turned into an allergy, and I was told to quit immediately. After a few days of splitting headaches, the anxiety, panic, and depression disappeared.
A couple of weeks ago, I was accidently given a regular cup of coffee at a restaurant instead of decaffeinated, and I was sick all fricking day. I've since cut out the decaf. I NEVER want to go through that shit again.
As long as I get my flying car that I was promised back in... oh... 1954!!!!@!$#@!#$@
In fact, quite good quality. I've got all three of the LD rips and I don't plan on buying this set when it's released.

Horrible acting, horrible story, stereotypes abound, great arcade scenes.

Cynical? Maybe a little. But true.
"Say good bye to your VCR, MP3 players, CD/DVD burners, etc."
And your customers.
Bravo for pronouncing Democratic correctly.
It amazes me how capitalism is such a great thing for cons, but only when it doesn't go against their dogma. Then it's a BAD thing.

I wonder if this robot will pack up and move to Mexico to save a few bucks a year...
So THAT explains all of the penis enlargement offers I've been getting from Ann Coulter!!
So THAT'S why I kept receiving penis enlargement offers from Ann Coulter! That explains it!!

"Yea.. the emotions.. I almost.. cried everytime one of my ninja turtles got killed when I was a child. I'll never forget. *tear*"
The day my yellow claw Tempest shooter was pulled down into the platform, I became scarred for life. May he (it?) rest in piece *sniff*

"...the Atari game with the handlebars... It was an Evil Kenevil (sp?) type game."
That would be Stunt Cycle. I'm still looking for one for my collection.

Sasuke Vs Commander, which was SNK's first color machine.

Here's another. One that I contributed to, in fact :)
