"If children are tought to live under all day surveillance under the pretext of their safety, they will grow up to be paranoid freaks, who will have no idea what terms like privacy, liberty mean "
You know, that may be the whole point of this. Break down their fears of be watched at all times and prepare them for a world where all of their thoughts and movements are tracked.
Yeah, it's pretty ugly, but I got to test the incredible I-Pac control panel interface. The I-Pac in my cab is the prototype for the 6-input model.
Since (sort of) getting out of the coin-op amusements business, I've been giving away free cabinets for MAME projects as I get them in, in the hopes that old, dead, "undesirable" machines get a second life as a living, breathing MAME machine.
Actually, Exidy's Star Fire (programmed by Dave Rolfe) was the first game to have a top ten high score table with initials entry. I asked Ed Logg (programmer of Asteroids ) about this durning an interview and he confirmed it. This is a VERY common misconception; even some of the gaming history books published state this.
The original Pac-Man was NOT created by Atari. Being the classic coin-op nazi and elitist that I am, I feel I must point out that the original Pac-Man (or PUCK-Man, as it is known in Japan, and its TRUE original name) was created by Toru Iwatani in 1979-80 for Namco and released as a coin-op first. It was later released in crappy console form by Atari.
Coin-ops ALWAYS get neglected by people who seems to forget that most early arcade classics started out in this form. Consoles, although fun in their own right, generally sucked in comparison.
I just get sick of seeing people referring to classic coin-ops manufactured by other companies as ATARI games, and seeing consoles get all the credit for them. If you had your choice, what would you rather take home, the coinop or the "Atari" cart?
"So, lets end this discussion, and in the future, don't go saying one thing while claiming you meant something else, its a bad habit that can get you into trouble in life."
Gladly. But before I go, I want to make a couple of points. Verbalized opinion vs written opinion are two different animals. And I sure as hell didn't get where I'm at by "saying one thing while claiming you meant something else". So your advice, while somewhat helpful to those of late elementary and junior high school age, and perhaps even to those a little less educated, means exactly nothing to me.
And I wasn't the one who posted that Duke Ellington quote. Check the post again.
My apologies for forgetting to put "in my opinion" in there somewhere. I guess I shouldn't always assume that people will figure out that I'm not trying to state fact when I say something is crap. To each his own, as far as I'm concerned. But don't call me an elitist when i listen to music outside the mainstream and THINK that popular music is crap. It's just my opinion, and I don't mean it in some lame contrarian way. After all, I *am* allowed to think that way. There aren't any thought police around these parts, are there?:)
As my boss says about our interns, "These Sensitive Sallys *really* need to settle down!"
Elitist? Because people don't listen to the same regurgitated, marketed-to-death CRAP? That makes them elitist? Am I an "elitist" because I spurn Linkin Park and Slipknot for bands like Napalm Death and Morbid Angel? Bands that were playing EXACTLY what these bands play, oh... TEN YEARS AGO?!?!
Because one doesn't buy into the marketing, has different tastes than you, and refuses to follow/live/emulate the "stars" of today does NOT make them elitist. That's like saying I'm elitist because I would rather drive a Camry than an Excursion or some other SUV (and to be clear, I could care less what people drive).
Not everyone can handle the fluff and pap that gets shoveled down our throats on a daily basis. Not all bands and artists follow the same path that you outlined in your last paragraph. Not everything is as black and white and you make it out to be.
You don't happen to go around calling people who disagree with you "liberals", do you?:)
Last Kiss was a remake of a 60s hit song by J. Frank Wilson & The Cavalry, but I understand where you're coming from. The same thing applies, but not in a "writing songs for Britney Spears" type arrangement.
... is somewhat troubling. I am unable to cleanly reboot the box (it just lays there like a lame date), and I had to remove two instances of a file called mobsync.exe in order for my system to regain stability. With this file running, I was unable to run any instances of the explorer (including control panel) and the entire system became unstable. Luckily, I was able to bring up the Task Manager to kill it, and used Find to find/delete the files. The file protection box will pop up, of course, but you can decline to have the files reinstalled.
"Apple appeals to superficial ("my pink hair defines me") artsy-fartsy on-the-fringe kind of people, and it is lucky that enough of those people exist to keep them in business. If Apple were "mainstream", those people would migrate to some other non-mainstream product to define their "individuality" and satisfy their fragile egos."
I love these kind of people. The type that thinks if you aren't somehow tied to everyhting mainstream, that you're some kind of elitist contrarian.
In the end, my friend, we all eat, shit, and dress the same. None of this crap matters, because we will all die. And who gives a flying fuck about what "name" you can leave behind. Just enjoy shit while you're here and fuck the herd metallity bullshit.
Stormaster was a mirror of another site (which shall remain nameless for obvious reasons; if you really look you can find it) and there were no banners, popups, etc to speak of. The site was put up as a service to arcade game collectors so that we could have a resource to fix our machines. Nothing more, nothing less. If you can find the page that it mirrors, you'll see how Stormaster was set up. It has the exact same layout.
Why is it that most... ok, ALL, video game- based movies are bad?
Take Joysticks, for example. As anyone that has seen this movie can tell you, it's one of the WORST movies EVER made. But as a "period piece" (it came out in 1983), it's pretty cool. The arcade scenes pretty much make up for the horrible acting and lame plot (local rich guy wants to shut down the local arcade... yawn). Plus, there's a bit of T&A in it and it stars Joe Don Baker. w00t!
I noticed you left out Fox News, which is just as bad as the others you listed, except with an extreme right-wing slant. If you want to talk about slanted news reporting, you absolutely MUST include them with the others. Just because they're on the side of the right doesn't mean that they're not as crooked as the others. Just because they use doublespeak like "fair and balanced" doesn't mean that they actually are. Throwing labels like "liberal" and "left" on other outlets (which is a hilarious new form of name-calling)doesn't excuse Fox from this fact, and never will.
There is no common sense, truth, or middle ground in mainstream news these day. It's all profit and political slant.
Nothing worse than an apologist that points out faults of other apologists.
And I'm willing to bet that you're one of those bleating Fox News disciples, letting the media and your friends dictate your political beliefs. The nonsense that you spew is the same mantra the rest of those ultra-right-wing nuts use when someone disagrees with them.
I'll also bet you use the words "liberal" and "leftist" about 100 times a day, because Bill O'Reilly told you to.
If there's anyone that hates America more, it's the "The US is not a democracy, it's a republic" Nazis who would love nothing more than the US to become a police state. And they say that Democrats (I am strictly conservative Republican, btw, and not a nutcase hillbilly like so-called other "Republicans"; i.e the Bush Administration) want to control others lives.
So, sit down, turn off the news; it obviously does the thinking for you; read the constitution, then come back and talk to us when you are no longer an America-hating, pro-fascist Nazi, ok?
I'm not sure if you mean "made it" as in successful, or just "made the jump", but the Vectrex game Cosmic Chasm was "ported" to arcade hardware by Cinematronics. I think only 300 of the machines were built, though. Not a success by any means, but it definitely "made it" to the arcade:)
"How do you know they did nothing? They seem to have a lot more intelligence information now than they did before. We actually are expecting and prepared for an attack attempt this week instead of being caught totally offguard like in 2001. They say this is from surveliance... perhaps it is helping. You make broad, and very confident-sounding statemants, but you do not KNOW, you are making it up."
That's what they SAY. In light of the recent stripping of many of our civil liberties, I take EVERYTHING my government tells me with a large amount of cynicism and suspicion. Call me paranoid or a wacko, but I feel that they're using fear of another attack for means other than to protect us.
The second part of your comment makes a bit of sense. But you lost me when you started generalizing about my manners and habits. Your weak insults do nothing but prove that you're just mad that I'm right and you're wrong.
And yes, I *am* an elitist. Got a problem with that?
Yeah. Don't let facts or proof get in the way of your reasoning. Just like every "good" conservative...
"If children are tought to live under all day surveillance under the pretext of their safety, they will grow up to be paranoid freaks, who will have no idea what terms like privacy, liberty mean "

Just my paranoid view...
Built in winter 1999-2000 and since parted out:

"It's a little too little, it's a little too late."
While noble, I'm afraid the proverbial cat has shredded the FUCK out of this bag...

McBride is heading towards a glorious new career when all is said and done with SCO. Check it out here!

I'm not trolling by saying this, but MAME has all the games I'd ever want to play :)

You're new here, aren't you?

That's definitely NOT the case here.
