The cheap non-wifi Hero remake is just fine and is all the waterproof camera I ever need. The biggest hangup for me is the extremely inflated accessory cost. For the price of the official "spare parts" bag, I got instead from Amazon a cheap chinese knockoff set with a suction cup, chest mount, head mount, helmet mount, tether, extenders, clips, and more miscellaneous bits. They really need to find what lower price point still works for them without going bankrupt for all of their products if they want to try to recover this holiday season.

  6. Re:Exploding heads on Google Security Engineer Claims Android Is Now As Secure As the iPhone (vice.com) · · Score: 1

As far as having the least new CVEs every new hardware cycle, Android was always winning.

Apple abandons its own hardware that is still in use by people. I've seen people using the 3GS and 4G just this year, which can only receive up to iOS 6.1.6 and 7.1.2 respectively.

And regular updates are why you don't go for Samsung and their bloated Crapwiz, but always pure Google Nexus/Pixel.

  7. Oh look, another crowdfunded product on New iPhone 7 Case Brings Back the Headphone Jack (thenextweb.com) · · Score: 1

If I was dumb enough to buy an iPhone 7, there is no way I would touch this until it became a retail product. I'm sick of the crowdfunding scam.

  11. I'm never against people trying new things. People doing ridiculous things sometimes end up being the inventors of something revolutionary. And at any rate, the more we can test and catalog how things work, the more clear of an idea we have of a concept.
