    The WTC was not infrastructure. Infrastructure is things like roads, powerplants, manufacturing facilities etc. Things that are part of the countries ability to function.

    Yes, the WTC was very important to the US, not only for economic reasons, but also for symbolic reasons. It was not infrastructure. Therefore hitting the WTC was an act of pure terrorism.

    When you target infrastructure there WILL be some civilian casualties. This is a given, and is very unfortunate.

    BTW, Most of the civilian deaths in Kosovo (and in the Balkan's in general) since the conflict began are the result of local-vs-local conflicts, not NATO actions.

    I've been there (several times actually. I have the UNPROFOR, KFOR and SFOR medals on my rack) as an armoured trooper, not a wog (service support, ie trucker, cook, etc), and we (NATO) have done much more good than bad.

    What roads? Cart tracks, yes (and those are in shit shape), but no roads at all in rural areas.

    Wake up. I was a professional soldier for 20 years, and I can tell you without any reservations that the amount of collateral damage in Kosovo (and any other place where a MODERN, professional military goes to work) is lower now than it has been in the history of man.

    Hell, I don't see Japan, England, France, China, or anyone else for that matter helping us now other than making a few strong statements to the media which will be forgotten in a month.

    I'm Canadian and my old regiment is on 30 minutes notice to move. Just tell us where you want us and we will be there in a few hours.

    As well, all of the member countries of NATO are right behind you folks, as a clause in NATO's charter has been invoked which basically says 'This incident is a threat to all of us. The alliance will stand behind the US and advocates the use of force.'

    I know that this has been said before, but when I see this kind of crap I have to respond. Most of the infected boxen are not run by companies etc. My logs show mostly home users who probably don't even know that they are running IIS.

    I'm not an MCSE, and I don't use the M$ products, but I'm willing to bet that most NT/2000 admins have patched already. I'm sure this will get modded down, because some crack-smoking moderator has already modded the parent up.

    Why don't some of the open source advocates start creating a Gnutella-like p2p data storage facility, perhaps with solid crypto, where the machine's owner actually doesn't know what specific data really resides on his machine? Seems like if enough folks opted in with a small chunk of their hard drive, we could prevent things like DeCSS, RIASS/Napster, Dolby AC3, etc. from happening in the first place.

    Most of this has already been done. Ever heard of Freenet

    EEPROM has a longer lifecycle, but is vastly more expensive.

    EEPROM is also so slow as to be unusable as mass storage.
