I hardly think that switches, CAT5 cable, and ethernet adapters can have a large enough footprint monetarily to be audited.
My switch ran 50 bucks, and each of my NICs ran 20. I get my CAT5 for nickels on the dollar because I put them together myself. Even purchased, they're only 10 bucks a pop.
Of course, with that said, I seriously doubt they are going after home users on this one. A corporate network would rake in thousands of dollars...
If anything, this should be labelled Funny, or at the very least left alone. But OFFTOPIC?!
You know, IP.. Internet Protocol... IP Intellectual Property? A jocular mismatching of two different meanings to come to a different conclusion? It's called humour. Jesus.
I'm just curious here... What other type of IM is there.. I thought all IM's used text? (I'm not being a smartass... I feel like I'm missing something)
Really I was under the impression that nobody used MSN/Yahoo/Jabber/whatever. But I suppose this might vary regionally.
I'd venture to say "regionally" is meant to mean "outside of my school". At least I'd hope so. Yahoo is PACKED with people, MSN is geared more towards mundane chatting it seems to me, while yahoo is more geared towards people who like everything in one package. Jabber, well.. I don't use it, but I do know there's a huge userbase.
Just because your isolated community is stuck on AOL technology, please don't assume the whole world is. Besides, one college is hardly a shining example of the entire world... I'm sure there are other colleges who are quite fond of Jabber and think the same way you do except they believe nobody uses MSN/Yahoo/AIM/Jabber/whatever.
I refuse to use ICQ or AIM now, even if people ask me to. There's no reason I need Yet Another Messenger(tm).
Ohhhh yeah, I can see that happening sometime in the next millenia...
How about we fix the things that need fixing before we go off the deep end? If you can't remember that there are 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, and 60 seconds in a minute, then.. well.. you might want to reconsider going back to school.
My celeron 300 is about 5 years old right now. My wife uses it for web, email, and documents. Why would I need to buy something new? Maybe if it breaks... which is what we're talking about. It should last a little longer than that, and I'm not about to upgrade it until then because it works great as it is. The only reason I have a 1.8ghz myself is because I do alot of compiling, XML stuffs, and I play 3D games occasionally. (used to do quake3 on my old celeron, but the newer games are requiring some major horsepower)
I've learned years ago that the whole tech industry is extremely incestuous. I wouldn't doubt if Western Digital and Hitachi both make the DeskStar for IBM. You never really know, there might even be parts in there made by Mitsubishi:P

But what kind of sick person would get enjoyment out of watching someone bleed to death after you've shot them?
Me:)
Just last night I was rushed by a Nazi soldier by surprise when I turned around, laid 3-4 founds of my carbine rifle into his head/chest, then as he was calling for a medic, I pulled out my pistol and continued to unload every clip into his then-lifeless body.
And if Microsoft weren't doing this, wouldn't there be articles appearing with titles such as "Microsoft ignores valuable customer feedback available free on Internet"?
I haven't seen too many articles about that type of subject yet, and I don't think we would see any about a company *NOT* harvesting information off of the internet. It's primarily considered a very dark thing, and usually is noticed more when a company actually does it.

That, along with a crank-powered radio, and your set. All part of the usual household "emergency plan".
It's time to move on to more important things, like healing.
Hell, most widows/widowers are already close to the end of the healing process at the 2 year mark. Life does go on. I'm sorry about your friends. I've had a couple of friends die at the hands of drunk drivers, but I don't creat a candlelight vigil that goes on for years.
Just because we don't want the news to be spattered constantly with reminders of the incident is not an indication of our Patriotism. It means we're looking to heal.
That's about like buying a lamborghini (with cruise control.......?), getting up to highway speed and setting cruise control, then complaining because it's a boring drive.
Live a little, take it off autopilot;)
Then get up to 30k+ altitude, drop the nose to 50+ degrees negative, and watch the land scream up to you in realistic graphics. Everyone knows that's what you do on a flight sim. =)
Everyone knows that Grand Theft Auto is really a terrorist training software.:)

I don't know about you, but if the power gets that bad off, I'm not about to rig my car up to my house. I have much better things to do than use electicity in those situations:)
But, all in all, the alternator would be under some massive load with anything more than a computer setup and a television (*maybe*) connected to the battery. It's just too much juice... especially for some of the not so new cars that have factory alternators that really suck.
That's sadly how it is now. I mean, yeah, if a cop sees a bunch of kids kicking a homeless person he'll intervene to tell the homeless person he's not allowed to sleep there. Basically, it's free reign when it comes to homeless people on the street getting their crap stolen and getting killed.
GOD NO!!!
VAT is evil!
I fail to see the reason why their should be taxes on taxes on taxes on taxes...
VAT makes state sales tax seem utterly trivial.

nah... TiVo rocks (minus the monthly charge) but Not the innards.

Just the finished product.
It's kind of like saying if Linux rocks, and linux is source code compiled, then compiled source code must rock

Their had a vacation in order to talk about power?
LOL now that's one news crew I'd have to watch!
Of course, for some reason I'm seeing one of the newscasters (Lance) played as the computer guy on saturday night live.
