"Golly, if it's that serious maybe I should start stocking up on MREs and ammunition in preparation for the day the assembly lines come to a screeching halt."
No, it's time to stock up on VINs. Anyone want to buy the rights to 4S6RN38F94L296406 ?
Speaking of superior OS's. In OS X there is a ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ directory where plugins go for all browsers. There is also a/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ directory, so that you can have one plugin for all users if desired. No symlinks needed, thank you very much.
Getting it to market after the PS3 will help the Xbox2 how? Getting it to market first doesn't mean success, but surely it improves their chances compared to getting it to market after.
Uh, never mind. Yes, "Local network", mentioned at the top, is LAN.:) However in the detailed specs, it only specifically mentions WAN. Confusing at the least.
No, it says it is "intelligent", but doesn't mention "LAN". Near the top of the tech specs page it says, "intelligent port for connecting to DSL or cable modems or a local network", at the bottom in the details it says, "10/100BASE-T Ethernet WAN port (RJ-45 connector) for connecting a DSL or cable modem". No mention of LAN or ethernet printers or other ethernet devices.
Regarding "open source, plugins or thrid [sic] party". iTunes can play any audio that can be played in QuickTime, and QuickTime supports plug-ins. There is an open-source Ogg Vorbis plug-in, for example.
Regarding "proper audio connectors". True that it only has a mini-jack for analog audio, but it also has a digital audio port, which is certainly "proper" and what you'll want to use if you want high fidelity.
Just for the record, you could also plug headphones into the mini-jack, though I find it somewhat unlikely that people would be interested in plugging there head directly into a power outlet, which is the impression you would get with this device.....
While nifty, unless I'm misreading the information at the site, this thing can not be used to make an ethernet printer wireless, only USB printers. Or can it? It has a WAN port but not a LAN port. That means no ethernet printer connection, right? Heck, if adding a LAN port would make it too big, I'd say toss the WAN port and switch it for LAN. I don't see using this thing as an access point, but would buy at least two if it had a LAN port (one for stereo, one for printer.)
With the amazing fuel economy of the Golf TDI you could drive really far into the middle of nowhere on one tank of biodiesel and still have enough left to siphon off for the tow truck you'll need to get back to a repair shop.
While I agree that Mr. Job's response is a bit arrogant, you can hardly blame him for turning up his nose at an "offer" that was in the form of a threat: make a deal or else. Not real friendly like.
He doesn't have to connect cables - he's clearly using a built-in dock (or equivalent) line-out connected directly to stereo, giving superb sound quality and no wires showing in his installation.
In my experience FM transmitters sound horrendous anyway. I have doubts that the iTrip is any better. Most (all?) such transmitters are monophonic only, but that's just the beginning of the dreadful sound quality coming from these things, even with a clear channel available.
All this discussion of the concept of PlayFair - have any of you tried it? So far every track I have tried it on causes iTunes to crash when I attempt to add it to my iTunes library. Hopefully this is a temporary problem, and I have heard of others having some success, but at the most it's very unfinished. Not there yet.
Call me crazy, but most alternative/rock/pop music I don't want to hear live. Not because I don't like it, but because they play so damn loud. It's completely insane the volume levels that most bands seem to strive for. It's so loud you can barely hear the music. I often do play music (CD, iPod or otherwise) pretty loud, but I'm in control of the volume and can set it really loud for songs I want to hear that way, and not so loud for others and all the while retain most of my hearing. Convince the damn bands to play quieter and I'll go to more concerts. Short of that, little money is to be made from me at concerts, the money is all in recorded music.
Nothing but shit to record.

Are we *sure* that isn't the title?

And to losing them all in one fell swoop?

Jobs exposes his breast on stage?
Surely anything requiring a helmet for safety should not be allowed on sidewalks.

To PBS' credit that they are posting what the press is saying about the show, even though most of it is quite negative.
So why exactly is anyone paying attention to what the New York Post says? Was this next to the latest, "Aliens ate my baby!" article?

... I'll wear white headphones, but carry a P.O.S. brand-x cassette walkman-clone. Go ahead, mug me!

death watch
These things are right up there with the Tablet PC.
Apple is dying for the 38th time. One well-informed chap is still counting.
