He took a lesson from Mother Nature. Is it just me? or do those look like big tumbleweeds? 'Cause I've seen tumble weeds roll along quite nicely even after the wind stopped.
One time my girlfriend reeeaally freaked when she saw a tumbleweed rolling right towards us while she was driving. She never saw one before and thought it was going to total the car! Scared the dickens out of me too 'cause I thought she was going to drive us into the ditch just to avoid the thing.
I thought it was bad form on slashdot to put the term "vs." in the subject line and not have Micro$oft on either side of the equation.
The open source community needs to show a united front against Micro$soft in order to provide an alternative choice. With this crap, Micro$oft just points to this incident and says "see... Finger pointing and dissention. and by the way... We have taken this into account into our 500th commissioned er... unbiased TCO study which now shows that windows costs $658.67 less than open source"
A third iSeries server (a model 270) is used as a Lotus Domino server running mail for 250 staff throughout Europe. It also links into the bank's private intranet.
Apparently IBM has committed to a Linux version of the Notes client in the near future. Once that is a reality then Domino can be a full Linux app on both the server and the desktop. At the moment the Desktop Notes client will only run well under Windoze (or WINE with a lot of tweaking), while Domino has been running under Linux for awhile now.
30 years ago I was programming in assembly language and had to code my own library of subroutines. You young whippersnapper programmers have it easy.
When I was programming I had to walk in three feet of snow on my way to school... uphill in the snow both ways... lard sandwiches... old rubber boots... carrying my younger brother...80 degrees below zero... aaaannnnd we had to use MSDOS on a 4.77 mhz CPU!
I used to work for Digital before Compaq took us over and the Digital name died right there. Now that HP has taken over Digital - Digital is deader than dead!
Perhaps it is time for a new logo for the topic (RIP comes to mind)
It doesn't have wireless or color, but it has my life on it.
Your whole life... Wow, and I can't even fit my entire Pr0n and MP3 collection on my desktop system with an 80 GB drive. Oh wait, actually that is my life. Now that is sad...
(Somehow, the quote reminds me of people who think that managers and lawyers are the important part of a company, and engineers and customer service are a nuisance to be minimized.)
I am still waiting for the best title of 'em all... Linux on XBox - Apparently it has been done before so I don't think it would be a technology barrier...
I would switch in a heartbeat if MS Office apps could save and open XML formatted documents. And I do mean standard XML format and not with Micro$oft extensions. All of my customers information is sent in MS Word format and I have tried every conversion utility known to man and the one that works consistently is MS WORD.
Apparently Office 11 is supposed to support XML but I'll believe it when I see it...
I did not say valid lawsuits. I said lawsuits, including the ones without merit where companies want to capitalize and get some coin for nuisance value. In many cases it is cheaper to settle the lawsuit than to pay all of the lawyers who started the lawsuit in the first place!
"The interface is a blank electro-luminescent touch-screen. The 'buttons' are animated graphics drawn to match any device you choose . You can update new device interfaces via a modem (specs aren't clear how exactly). You can also define 'macro' buttons to do multiple tasks with one button. Apparently it also has a built-in motion-sensor and turns itself on when you pick it up."
I am sure that there is going to be a number of patent infringements in there somewhere. Numerous lawsuits will be underway before the thing hits the shelves. - 20 -
I know how to fix your problem.
Do this: Blah Blah Blah
I cannot fathom any problem that would be fixed by doing "Blah Blah Blah". If anyone can tell me what a Blah is - I'll donate to your cause.

Apparently the guy subscribes to the theory that you can catch more flies with a load of shit...
but remember the old saying "The squeaky wheel gets the grease"? well... sometimes the wheel gets replaced!

Yeah, but you tinfoil hat should still work! =)

There is no way you can really simulate a bitch slap from your girlfriend 'cause she found out you were screwing her sister...
imagine doing it with live musicians.
and now imagine if you were the conductor and had to keep the beat...
If the guy's face you borrowed was on a mafia hitlist?
"No you got it all wrong wiseguy! I am not Sammy the fish! I just look exactly like him right down to the one of a kind tattto on my cheek....
Bam! Bam!.....
Just turn on the vibrating feature. Then you can call your deaf girlfriend and say "I just called to say I love you" in morse code...

I never heard of that Linux distro before? Say, Wasn't Enix called "Round Hole" before their name change?

NB: Digital was the best company to work for...
That's nothing! Do you have a Hotmail account by the name of DickHertz@hotmail.com? If so, I'll bet you have had more than your share of spam.
If Boa is too constricting, you might want to switch back to good ol' Apache

I believe that the Tag line switch was coined by Apple...
Ellen Feiss talking about switching from Boa to OSX Server:
I was like using this web server...
and like it was really fast....
and it was showing my website when...
Boop Beep Buh Deep Bip Bop...
It went poof! Gone! It was like...
Bummer
It doesn't have wireless or color, but it has my life on it.

did the estimated impact location coincide with the approximate location of his house?

No, Actually that is Dilbert...
Let's see, so if a byte is 8 bits...
and if 25 cents is 2-bits then a byte is worth a dollar!
Well personally...
I am still waiting for the best title of 'em all... Linux on XBox - Apparently it has been done before so I don't think it would be a technology barrier...
But every time I played it, I heard this eerie almost inperceptible voice...
.Net is Good -- Linux is Bad"
"Buy Microsoft --
The voice just repeats itself over and over! Very strange huh? I think it was Bill himself.

I wonder who posted the above rant???
