This was exactly my point. Leviticus is the "moral code" for the perfect Christian. No Christian I have *ever* met follows even a fraction of this code. So how can they justify taking one quote out of context and hold homosexuals to it absolutely? I say that if Christians want to make homosexuality an unforgiveable sin, they need to make every "abomination" in Leviticus an unforgiveable sin. It's only fair.
This is the first "mainstream press" article I've read in recent memory where someone's homosexuality was not explicity mentioned. The article simply makes mention of his relationship -- and this is how it should be. You never read articles that state "Jane Doe, who is heterosexual, is currently..."
I wonder if the fact that this is not an American publication has anything to do with it.
Leviticus also states that eating meat on Fridays, shaving your beard and wearing blending fabrics are crimes punishable by death. Will you be casting the first stone?
Please, tell me where you shop. I have a hard time getting decent service anywhere. Most salespersons I encounter are rude, pushy, or just plain ignorant.
I work part-time for Pottery Barn and the customers who shop at such a mid to high-range home furnishings store demand professional, efficient, helpful service, which is something I try hard to provide. It's obvious that the higher-end the retailer, the better the service will be... but does that mean we have to put up with crap service just because we need to make a run to Target or Warehouse Music?
Sure, they don't have an unlimited plan, but at 4 cents a minute, you would have to talk for 900 minutes a month to break Vonage's $35 a month for unlimited plan.
You're forgetting that Vonage's charge also includes local phone service, while BRW is only a long-distance company. Since I paid $24 to BellSouth for a local line with absolutely no features, not even call waiting, $35 for local service with ALL features AND unlimited long distance is a steal.
So, assuming most local service is $24 without including options, $11 only buys you 275 minutes of LD with BRW. Not so much of a deal now, is it? At that point, you're better off getting Vonage's $25 local + 500 minutes of LD plan.
Yes, I could have purchased a 12" PB with an external 17" LCD display, but for a few hundred over that additional cost, I went with the 17" so I could have that screen anywhere and it's one less thing on my desk.
I almost forgot to mention the faster bus, faster processor, L3 cache, larger memory capacity, included Airport Extreme card, larger standard hard drive, backlit keyboard, more video card memory, firewire 800 port, gigabit ethernet, and DVI-out. All of which I use and all of which add to the value of the 17" over the 12".
That's funny... for me the 17" PowerBook is perfect. It stays on my desk about 80% of the time and the other 20% of the time that I need to go mobile I just close it and throw it in a sleeve. It isn't all that much larger than a 15" TiBook nor is it any heavier than my old 400 Mhz G3 Pismo PowerBook, plus it's a lot thinner. I think I am the exact target market for this product... those who want a desktop replacement with a large screen who only want to go mobile occasionally. If you are someone who takes their PB with them everywhere, I heartily recommend the 12" PowerBook. That's why they offer three different models... so you can choose the one that's right for you. Yes, I could have purchased a 12" PB with an external 17" LCD display, but for a few hundred over that additional cost, I went with the 17" so I could have that screen anywhere and it's one less thing on my desk.
And to counter your "SUV mentality" argument, personally I drive a VW Golf TDI that gets 42/49 MPG. I don't think bigger is better, in fact I can't stand SUVs, but when it came to choosing a new laptop, I went with larger screen over super-portability, because I don't need super-portability.
Did you happen to *gasp* pick up the phone to call them to see what was wrong? Did you *horror* write a letter to customer service detailing your situation? Or did you perhaps *shock* reverse the charges if you purchased with a credit card and have your bank do all the legwork?
Just because you don't have the sense to follow up when something is obviously wrong doesn't mean PVRs aren't a fantastic product. How will they know something is wrong if you don't tell them? For all they know, your PVR return was processed but someone in shipping walked off with it as a birthday present for his girlfriend. With the volume of business they do sometimes cases like yours slip through the cracks. Obviously that $300 doesn't mean much to you if you didn't take 15 minutes to figure out why you didn't get your replacement unit.
Anyway, I swear by PVRs. I recommend them to anyone who will listen.
Mods, please +1 funny
Wireless. More space than a Nomad. Still lame.
How about everyone not flip out about the specs on an unreleased product?
Your nick seems especially befitting today.
This is great -- as long as the maximum price is 99 cents.
Yes, you are absolutely right -- I would hate to see Slashdot praising one particular platform more than any other.
Next time just keep scrolling.

Hmmm... how YOU doin'?!

You say you are OK with homosexuality in one breath and then make a crude, insulting comment in the next. Which is it?

Who cares? She's kinda hot!
Yeah, and about 80% of all the music on all iPods around the world instantly stops working (hint: mp3). Great business plan
Hey, it worked for Sony.
Oh wait no it didn't.
This is probably the best idea for using this service I've seen so far.
