Apple needs to get iTunes onto the Windows desktop by default.. otherwise M$ will be able to pull a Netscape manouver pretty easily. I am sure Apple will be able to use this as leverage to negotiate better deals with the Record Labels down the road.
Hardware-wise maybe HPiPods will introduce a little competition and make Apple rethink the pricing on the mini iPods..
Xandros is based on Debian yes.. but Lindows has its roots in Xandros and Codeweavers.. although I think their relationship is not what you would call stable at the moment.. but now Robertson needs something again...
See Lindows history timeline here

The Canadian Progressive Reform Conservative Alliance Party of Canada is going to have to wait a few more terms at least before the dictatorship can be overthrown... hopefully they change their name a few more times just for the hell of it.
Never mind Java.. dilution is hurting Linux as a desktop..
There are literally 100's (possibly upwards of 1000) of different Linux distributions and flavours to choose from. (theres over 25+ distros based off of Debian alone http://www.debian.org/misc/children-distros ) Its not uncommon for a Linux distros to have grand children now.. Lindows based of of Xandros based off of Debian etc.
Once you have that figured out you need a Desktop. Between Window Managers and Desktop Environments you have over 100+ choices. http://www.plig.org/xwinman/index.html Now Sun releases something called Java Desktop which is really a Distro and a Desktop Environment combined... but never mind the Distro - they call it a Desktop. It would do Gnome and KDE good to simply release their own distros and market them as complete OS's.. considering that is what everyone else is doing anyways.
Choice is good but its no wonder Linux seems so confusing to the average joe... maybe theres too many choices.
well increasing the data size five fold every few years is a good way to curb piracy... DVD-R's are already too big for broadband unless you got alot of time on your hands. imagine trying to trade HD-DVD-R's...
if EMP's were their only real line of defence against the machines why wouldn't the tunnels leading down to Zion and Zion itself be loaded with them.
I mean when the one hovercraft finally came through the EMP wiped out every single machine.. and the humans seemed to survive no problem.
You would think that EMP's would be preferable to poorly designed mechs that are hardly mobile and need unarmed kids to run ammo out to them in the middle of the battlefield.

it seems like M$ is scrambling a little bit, not quite sure what to do anymore. coming to the market second or third works when you can leverage your existing user-base in a controlled environment (think IE or Office).
the trouble is the internet is not really a controlled environment like their os. even with a browser monopoly M$ hasn't really figured out what to do online.. the only success they have achieved thus far is by buying existing leaders (think HotMail).
so as far as I am concerned as long as M$ is mired up trying to develop their own online services in-house the world is safe.

Sadly, the last card 3dfx constructed was the Voodoo 5 6000, which was rarely seen at all. That is rather hard to believe seeing that it's one of the biggest graphics cards I have ever seen. It's equipped with 4 GPUs (That's right, 4.) and 128 megabits of memory. This card was mostly only seen in servers though.
This card was massive and would never have been used in a server.
Remember the slashdot story a couple days ago about the Microsoft
There has been at least 14 articles relating to Microsoft in the past 2 days... its getting hard to remember which is which... this might as well be M$.com

why would i?
... perfect!
because my mp3 collection is 120GB + and there is no way i could afford the 120GB iPod that doesn't exist.
so 2GB can hold about 15 CDs
"Admittedly, I think it would have been better to do a shorter review of Xandros"
I did follow the series and the Xandros review is needlessly long.
he was just being polite :-)
Final Decision:
Primary system - Libranet
Secondary system - Lindows

I think they do.
From what I have heard the developers at Xandros are working to get Debian LSB complient / certified.
I guess this means a new version of Lindows soon since the current iteration of Lindows is based off of Xandros 1.0

Ebay iPods usually go for around $250+ .. They seem to hold their value relatively well .. still you can save about $100 bucks.

DVDs are not too big for broadband. MPEG-2 (DVD) can be converted to MPEG-4
... to lower the filesize.
... but at 4.7GB a pop they are pretty large for the average joe.
Of course they are - thats why you converted it to MPEG4
People on really highspeed networks trade ISO images of DVD's to burn onto DVD-R
HD-DVD will up the ISO size to almost 25GB per layer.

people dont have a problem using and abusing the Gimp .. playing with libcaca doesn't seem so bad.
.. i hear stuff like that is poular in Japan ..
actually how about piping the Gimp through libcaca
Don't forget: Western Washington University also brought us the Beer Church!

Lots of negative press regarding iTunes today.

The reality is Apple makes damn nice software
I even find that M$ Office for OSX looks and feels nicer than the Windows version
