Agreed. I have no interest in playing anything online. Nintendo focuses on making the single player / local multiplayer experience as fun as possible. It only takes one online asshole to completely ruin my online experience.

Is this lawsuit just a big advertisement? I'd never heard of searchking until the slashdot story. I count 75 occurrances of "SearchKing" on this page, and I'm sure theyre getting a ton of word-of-mouth from this elsewhere as well. It's not good word of mouth, but if the spammers will gladly piss off a few thousand people for a couple bucks, why not a search engine broker?
This is different from DMCA. DMCA prohibits certain (fair) uses of things that I own. This list is something that I would have to opt in on, and would be mutually beneficial. I guaran-fucking-tee you that I will NEVER buy anything from an email or a phone call. This list saves me the hassle of deleting that shite, saves the network latency and disk space and other usage and waste at the ISP level, and saves the spammers the time and resources they would waste by sending it to me. I shouldnt have to spend time and money implementing my own solution to control this flood of crap when we can just have our government create a central list exactly like this. This is the type of service that I want my government to provide for me.
True, common sense helps, but education is necessary also. If I dont know the stove can burn me, all the common sense in the world isnt going to keep me from touching it. Do some research before traveling to find out what the risks and dangers are, how likely they are to occur, and how they might be avoided.
if youre the type of guy who has numerous valid objections to buying a diamond ring, yet you do it anyway because its what SHE wants, maybe youre also the type of guy who will: listen to your wife tell you that you spend too much time on the computer, too much time with the guys, not enough time with her, not enough money on this or that, you dont need a prenuptual agreement, you need more kids than you want, etc.

if it was just a token of your love, then a plastic ring would be fine. if the ring MUST BE valuable then it isnt really a token of affection, its a token of how much youll spend on something you dont like just to please her. dont forget that youll have to look at this thing everyday for (hopefully) a loooong time. i think a fair middle ground is just to get a simple gold band. this way she has something to show people that isnt completely ugly or worthless, and she has something to ward off other guys.:) let her explain to people that SHE thinks a big rock is unnecessary. hopefully she means it.

Youre talking about stealing a replacement part from somebody who physically owns it, but downloading a rom is more like building your own replacement part from raw materials that you own. Are you saying that, if i have the ability and the resources, i should NOT be allowed to build my own replacement part? I should have to wait a few years?
