But still, games were better back then, when they concentrated more on the gameplay and/or story before the prettiness of the graphics.
Yeah, nowdays every game is photorealistic, but when you tilt the stick, the game won't react until like 3 seconds later. And sometimes they even go to the opposite direction then you pushed the stick. The games are totally unplayable.
I don't know why I keep buying all these unplayable games with amazing graphics!
I have been hit with guestbook spam. I get a messages full of links to my guestbook almost daily. Now I've just added a filter that removes the whole message text if it has at least 3 urls. At least I don't improve the page rank of as many spam sites now.
Unfortunately Thunderbird's filtering rules seem to break from time to time. Yesterday it let through 3 messages that POPFile had marked as spam. Also, it seems that Thunderbird isn't deleting the spam messages from the POP server even though I have ticked the checkbox in the filter's configuration.
Now when I want to read my emails using a web interface, the inbox will have two weeks worth of non-mailing list ham messages, as well as all the spam I've received within two weeks. Very annoying.
That's only because San Andreas takes about 10 months to finish. And I don't mean 100% completion, I mean playing through the plot of the game. At which point the completion percentage will be about 13.
No, Kyoto alone will not be enough to stop global warming, but at least now there are some limits on how much the member nations can pollute.
Hopefully this will trigger an infrastructure change to greener energy in those nations. And maybe some techniques developed by the early adopters can then be exported to other nations.
Well, considering that many Americans seem to think that every international treaty is anti-USA, it's understandable that some foreigners think that USA is anti-world.
The movie format isn't DVD quality, but it is "good enough." The shittiest part is the long conversion time, but that could be due to the converter software's crappy scaling algorithms, like I said in a previous post.
Movies take about 3 times their playing time to convert, but converting a standard-length mp3 to "GBS" takes only about 2-3 seconds. My machine is a Athlon XP 2000+ with 1GB memory. When I pre-scaled the movies, they took less than their playing time to convert, by about 1/10.
I have to look into the conversion speed thing and post the results somewhere.
I haven't thoroughly tested this, but the long encoding time might be because your source video has higher resolution and it needs to be scaled down. I pre-scaled some videos using VirtualDub and saved them using a lossless codec, then converted those files, it took a lot less than when I directly converted the high resolution videos. And the scaling algoruthm was a lot better in VirtualDub.
You can get rid of the extra temporary files by using Avisynth. You will still get higher quality scaling than with the converter (which uses nearest neighbor).
You can copy pretty much anything for your own personal use, but you may not distribute it. Software is an exception. You may not copy software.
For example you can loan a CD or a DVD from a library and rip it to your own machine, and even make some limited number of copies for you and your family.
IIRC, there are some amendmends in the works, like the source material must be legal for your copy to be legal. Also, bypassing copy protection may become illegal.
Slashdot karma is just a number in a database. At worst, you might get a week-long ban from posting stuff, but getting moderated down really isn't that big of a deal.
Nintendo DS is Nintendo's new hand held console. With Dual Screens.
When you read a story about "PSP" it doesn't mean Painshop Pro, it's PlayStation Portable, Sony's portable console.
You're supposed to pick either PSP or DS and love it passionately. You're also supposed to hate the other console and anyone who likes, or even tolerates it.
No no no no, the official opinion is that modern games are pretty but have crappy gameplay. Fall back in line!

You suck.
Are you saying that Free software is like the special olympics?
If you don't like it, don't fucking buy it!
Because you can't really tell which it has more: Windows or sub-menus.
Truer words were never spoken.
Please stop writing it as "M$."

What?
They'd have to nuke the mideasts entire current population into oblivion before I'd voluntarily step foot there.
You want to live in a nuclear wasteland?

Do you doubt that US actions after 9/11 have prevented attacks?
In a word: yes.
How many attacks have US actions after 9/11 prevented?

Not that I have actually verified any facts...

The article was on the front page. And it's still a good idea to mention the company. Nobody knows every acronym and gadget model number by heart.
