Has anyone used video game technology as an education tool

Grand Theft Auto taught me all about how to run people over and blow things up. I now have a PHD in urban terrorism.

I remember reading somewhere (I may be totally wrong about this) that Apple changed this practice because it never really did make sense why people would be throwing the disk in the trash just to eject it. Frankly, I don't think it makes any sense at all. What's logical about throwing something in the trash to get it back?

  3. VOD Here on Video-on-Demand versus P2P? · · Score: 1

I just got the two new VOD services for Time Warner here in NYC. One, the normal movies on demand, is basically just pay per view that you can pause and rewind and fast forward. Nothing too exciting.

The Subscription Video on Demand, which has channels for each of the premium channels, is very cool. The HBO channel, for instance, has entire seasons of the Sopranos and Six Feet Under, along with a fair selection of movies, dennis miller, and comedya specials and whatnot. And it came free with the cable package I already have.

Showtime also has lots of Red Shoe Diaries on their channel. Good Times.

I'm not fully versed in all its wonders, but the Windows Policy Editor (or whatever its called now) can completely lock down a machine. It's a vastly underutilized tool for environments where you don't want users messing with the machines. I remember getting annoyed the first time I sat down at a box which wouldn't let me even look at the start menu. Any and all Windows admins should look in to its proper use in their environment.

The third largest candy maker in the country seems to have held its market share without some frivolous "where to find our candy" web application that would probably cost more to build and maintain than it could possibly bring in in revenues.
