I think it needs to be clear that when one says "Americans" and "bombing" that they really mean to say "US Government" since the people seem to have no choice in the matter on who to go to war with.
It's not only the US vs. Terrorists, it's also Americans vs. the US Government. Think of the logic behind the US government. If the people disapprove enough then the Civilian population could politically "seceed" from the nation. What's left of the US Government "Empire" can do anything it wants until some nation stops them. At this point, civilians can't stop them so they're in this situation now.
The US people are the most dangerous enemy to the US Government right now. How do you combat this? Religious control. Hrm...
No one likes us. I don't know why. We may not be perfect, But heaven knows we try. But all around, Even our old friends put us down. Let's drop the big one, And see what happens.
Asia's crowded, Europe's too old, Africa is far too hot, And Canada's too cold. And South America stole our name Let's drop the big one, There'll be no one left to blame us.
Boom! goes London, And Boom! Paree. More room for you, And more room for me, And every city, The whole world round, Will just be another American town.
We give them money, But are they grateful? No, they're spiteful, And they're hateful. They don't respect us, So let's surprise them We'll drop the big one, And pulverize 'em.
We'll save Australia. Don't wanna hurt no kangaroos. We'll build an All-American amusement park there-- They got surfin', too!
Oh, how peaceful it'll be! We'll set everybody free! You'll wear a Japanese kimono, babe; There'll be Italian shoes for me! They all hate us anyhow,

Although it's sad that Red Cross has to issue out warnings for scammers, particulary in email form. It's ludacris that WIndows has impacted, impeded even, the donation process for people in dire need.
What's also impressive is that Apple was able to do seamless dynamic recompiling back in 1994, save for rogue -11 errors when an FPU was needed. Not even Speed Doubler could come out with something until 1996 (correct me if I am wrong). I miss the days of SCSI being standard.
Today it has to be childplay. From my understanding current EPI^H^H^HVLIW architecture excells at providing an emulation layer. I know that's why HP is using Itaniums for their transition away from PA-RISC.
My wish: AMD CPUs in Macs, they seem to be on par with their roles as underdogs-who-are-really-better-than-the-rest-but- most-people-are-idiots-or-well-idiots.
Coming from the ISP background myself, I can certainly say that it gives you an atypical exposure to every avenue of IT. You have high stress, lots of money/minute lost for downtime, direct custimer interactions, stressed bosses and seasoned and novice admins to deal with. Attention detail is a must. You end up touching a lot of different networking and server equipment that a standard corporate environment would never let you mess with, much less figure it out due to necessity or staffing issues. If you've ever stood an ISP up from the ground up then you have room for a pretty impressive resume. I would much rather hire someone like that (*shameless promtion*myself) than an $CERTIFIED person with only Corporate America experience.
I started at 19 @ 7.25/hr, I'm 26 now and I am 8/10s of the way to 6 figures because I am pretty good at working with nothing. Plus I'm cute.
Unfortunately it places me in a boring Corporate America cube job as a contractor. I thought I'd give this a try to see if I liked the change of pace and free time after COB. Any startups need a good admin for part time work outside of my real job?:)
Not to mention that I always get a slow down when I install SP2. And hours of lost productivity looking at reminders geared towarded novices that I don't feel that I should have to dig around for minutes to disable. Need I mention that I have to remove my SoundBlaster Live drivers completely before I can liten to music and I can't seem to get DHCP leases working unless I statically assign it to my DHCP server via MAC address.
Instead of releasing greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Create some high pressure storage method and just ship them to Mars every 26 months. Just make the ships launch and crash in to the planet and release the gases. Maybe it'll take a few years off the few hundred necessary to melt the ice caps. Maybe it'd make all of us more likely to hug trees and justify the ignorance of our manifest destiny.
It's hard to make the change of lifestyle when the lifestyle (employer) gives us money to support our families. I'm all about living in nature and using the lands natural resources (hug trees), but wont that just swing he pendulum back for a few hundred years to repeat the cycle?
Perhaps this could be some adapted to experiment with Alien cultures and develop ways of translating abstract languages and culture practices. Create a thriving artificial culture then make a Western society interact with it to see if they get along or destroy eachother (or other cultures for that matter). Maybe they could invent technologies that we would have never considered before. If it's made well enough, the possibilities are quite endless. Time to buy up some old computers to get a cluster going. Even allow it to be distributed so all of us can have a part of emerging spciety.
Just beware, we don't want Terminator coming true.;)
May as well run this on a quantum computer so it's less predictable while you're at it.
This exact senario was given to our management. They responded that they will see it impossible to maintain 99.9996% uptime on any system and more sev 1 outages. We could only agree to 80% uptime with current staffing. They quickly dissolved that plan.
just to get a stupid song
That's why I haven't bought a CD in over 5 years. Music commercialized sucks.
How do you get a +5 Off topic?

Windows users convert to OS X every day with less griping.
The average person is just not intelligent enough to use something that a 1st grader couldn't use fluently with in 25 minutes.
20% of people in the US don't know that the Earth revolves around the Sun?!?!?! How on earth could they understand a power-user OS?

I boot into Linux for the most part now.
Your on probation Mister.
You're fired for making a grammatical error that a 2nd grader would make.
Use foam from the space shuttle to shield it.

Is it me or does track 9 sound exactly like doing a whippit? :)
Perhaps Nitrous Oxide is one of the secrets of the Universe.
my first born girl will be named Utopia Planetia. :)
Sure sounds like we're taking steps to obtain the logic to learn how to harness the power of time travel. CERN and GE could be entertained by 2034...
Maybe Mr. Titor wasn't so wrong, afterall.
