AFAIK, the Gamecube and N64, use a propietary version of OpenGL, so this is another independent support for OpenGL (but, since is propietary, isn't too important). Rmmember that the N64 was developed in collaboration with Silicon Graphics.
I don't know if the PS or PS2 have their own graphics library. I guess so, but, since every developer hates developing for those consoles, I guess that, if they exist, they suck (ergo, they are not OpenGL or D3D:)
I'm afraid that, if he continues the saga after ROTJ, he will just ignore all the expanded universe, and write his own stuff, full of gungans, ewoks, and anything new and stupid he can come with.
After all, most of the expanded universe are books that wouldn't fit very well in a movie that Lucas likes.
But, that said, I'm not that fond of everything post ROTJ. Having the emperor resucited, Boba Fett escaping from sarlacc (and being eaten again, and escaping, and being eaten again, and escaping, etc) and Wookie Jedis, are just as stupid ideas as Phantom Menace and AOTC were.

Make no bones about it - there is no substantial non-Windows gaming market. No sir. Carmack does this for two reasons - because he can and because it really throws mud in the eye of Microsoft.
As a side note, if you haven't purchased this game, then go out and do so... even if you won't use it. Without id software (and some other keys), gaming would be Windows-only right now.
Mmm...I suppose those PS2, Gamecubes, and Gameboys SPs are used to do text editing, web browsing and email only...
However you are right. The guy has almost singlehandledly keeped OpenGL support alive in the industry.
Good point. However, AFAIK, in the post Return of the Jedi books, the empire still exists as small armed groups. So, in fact, the death of the emperor destroyed most of the empire, but not all.
Yes, but Lucas did say that he was trying to bring the original films more in-line with the prequels. He's just adding consistency by making all of it really childish and stupid.
If Apple released cheaper hardware, or opened the door to clones, more people could afford an apple, and more support (games, apps, etc) to it would be devoted.
Will it happen? Probably not. Apple apparently likes their position of high end computers. And mac zealots use their macs as status.
I think that makes sense. And shows (one more time) how Sony lies with respect to their future technology. They were hyping the CELL as the new supercomputer, revolutionary, etc. But, at the end, it will probably be just a powerpc processor (still a great processor).
Still, the PS3 should be more powerful than Xbox2, since it will come out almost a year after.
Maybe some hacker will make a program to break into every gmail account, read their mail, and send them ads about what people are talking about in mails!!!
You have reason in a lot of points, but...that was not what I'm saying.
When I was in school (a catholic school, during my childhood), I was teached that the Monotheism was an advance, religiously, as well as philosophically, from polytheism.
However, history shows me that, in fact, is quite the opposite. Polytheism keeps a natural tolerance, which monotheism can't, by their very nature, provide. This is why modern religions (christianism in every form, muslims, hebraism, etc) are broken at their very heart.
I am atheist, of course, but I would be more comfortable if the world would adore Zeus and his group, and Ra, etc.
Yeah, of course today it looks stupid, because today we know what happened. But back in the day, some people (of course the minority), MUST have realized what was going on.
In fact, Paul Graham did realize that Yahoo stock(which had employed him) was priced waaaay above reality. And acted accordingly. He sold his stock, and told his friends to do the same.
He was a programmer. Yes, he had a lot of business vision. But the market guys should have had a lot more of this than him. It was their fricking job.
The movie has an entry on IMDB, with comments dating as far back as 1999.
How did these people see the movie?
That's because they actually discovered the movie back in 2001. They didn't try to obtain a DVD distributor until last year, but apparently some VHS copies are in circulation
So they only time traveled from 1999 to 2001? More time travel than that is dangerous?
You are right, but there is a problem. In this case, the marketing guys took the $11M, said "Sure, we can sell this, leave it to us, we know better", and let the company sunk, and went to the bank laughing all the way.
An ethical professional would have said "You know, this business will die, horribly. Selling catfood through the internet isn't going to work, at least not today. Keep your millions, this advice will cost you $X thousands dollars".
The IT guys couldn't know this. It isn't their work. But it was the work of the marketroids. So, at least these people had frivolous job and vapourous life.
From Nintendo AND Take Two, in five, four, three, two...
Why this kind of genius is wasted on these projects which look like a suit bait? The guy is amazing, but should be developing as an indie, trying to get positive attention from industry.
This would be the Empire that deified several Emperors, and required their subjects to worship said Emperors? Seems to me that that was part of the Empire's problems with the Jews - they wouldn't worship the Emperors.
But, you are not telling the whole story; yes, the romans imposed their emperors as gods, but also accepted any other gods you could bring. Greek, egyptian, etc. If you were open to worship the emperors, you could worship whatever.
This changed once Christians took the power. Only christianism was allowed. Do you think the other religions were happy about this? One great thing about the USA democracy, is their separation of state and faith. Once they are one, freedom is gone.
The eastern empire survived, with (orthodox) christianism, true. But why did the eastern empire fall? Because, when Byzantium (orthodox) asked for help, they refused to convert to Roman Catholicism. Both didn't cooperate, due to minimal religious differences. Christians again.
I use my wiki as a personal information manager. It is in the web, though, so my friends can reach it and make some comments.
But further than that, the wiki concept works. But you need a comunity to make it really shine. Look at c2.com, or www.cliki.net. Yes, ward"s wiki has a lot of crap inside, is victim of spam and vandals. But the wiki community fixes everything as fast as they can.
3) The Empire had no system for picking Emperors beyond "the guy who wins the Civil War after the last Emperor died". Note though, that they had a working system for a while, and abandoned it when one of the Emperors decided to stop using it, and let his son inherit.
Also, the army started to demand higher wages from every new emperor. And, if the emperor failed to comply, they would put another emperor in its place, to get more money.
And don't forget the christianism, which created a intolerance mood in the former very religiously open roman empire. Many old religions were prosecuted. (Christians were prosecuted due to their prosellitism).

Every line is stupidly dramatic. I couldn't stop laughing in my first fight with Dracula.
A great game, though.
And then your console becomes a money printing machine, due to your newfound ability to predict matches outcomes!
Go EA and illegal sports bets!
Look at Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on the PSX, THOSE GUYS WERE PRO!
I bet they got their lines right the first time they said it, because, it sounds like it.
woah. Well, if you don't mind using a TV for all this, and space isn't a problem, I can understand that.

I remember that, after Isaac Asimov died, his widow allowed three science fiction author to write sequels to the Foundations books.
Those sequels are horrible. They make Phantom Menace look like the new Empire Strikes Back. The 3 B's should be shoot on sight.
(Dune fans can express their love for Kevin Anderson and Bryan Herbert here)
Maybe when Lucas dies, we will get Star Wars remakes, or sequels or whatever. I predict it will be even uglier.
I'm afraid that, if he continues the saga after ROTJ, he will just ignore all the expanded universe, and write his own stuff, full of gungans, ewoks, and anything new and stupid he can come with.

... how the "cosmic rays" can make Mr. Fantastic so stretchy.
They didn't. Cosmic rays just activated the x-factor in the fantastic four, which would have stayed dormant otherwise, because they weren't mutants.
"Normal" mutants get their x-factor activated naturally, during the teen years.
(OMG, I can't believe I knew that)
Good point. However, AFAIK, in the post Return of the Jedi books, the empire still exists as small armed groups. So, in fact, the death of the emperor destroyed most of the empire, but not all.

We are lucky that he didn't dumb down the Ewoks!
To match the japanese tastes
They are too expensive. Period.

Once I can fulfill my computer needs on Linux
I'll switch (yes gaming=needs).
Buy a console. An Xbox would probably suit you best if you are into pc gaming. Mod it, so you can run emulators and stuff on it.
