Good post, and I agree with you on most points, but as faras wacky games, I would say Sony even has Nintendo beat on that front as well if you're willing to import Japanese games (many of which are heavy on english and light on Japanese).
I agreewith you to a certain extent as to how far this 'wannabe-cool' mentality persists, my parent could give a crap whether something is 'cool' or 'hip' but it seems the latest generation of gamers (of which I am a part) is caught up in the cool, kill stuff, be gangster logic from the very roots, making it not something they can get over, but a fundamental part of their videogame ethos. No matterhow many people out there you would bet would like Katamari Damacy, you would be a fool to bet it would out-do Madden 200n in sales, which in a commercial society is what it comes down to.
I believe they used this 'merger' tactic to wedge G4 onto the Dish Network, and various cable network channel line ups. No providers in my area ever carried G4, and using this tactic they've gained a much higher potential (hah) viewer base.
And I'll bet that, by the fact you spew insults without using your name, that you're a ball-bag licking pickle-puffer. Here's your sign, asshat.
Hahahah... too classic coming from an AC
Except for, generally, and I would assume in this case, free POP providers do NOT provide an SMTP server because of the potential for abuse. They simply tell you to use your ISP's.
That's because Hotmail requires you to log in at least once every 30 days to keep your account active. Gmail's policy is 6 months, which is quite a bit more reasonable.
Both of these are non-issues for T9 on my phone (Motorola V60i Color) as you can easily add words to the dictionary, and it actually organizes the words that appear by how often you use them. EVen if this isn't the case in your phone, it's what, two extra keypresses to selec 'pub' instead of 'sub' or 'rub'.
I would actually think it would be the opposite, considering that some R&D dept. came out with these quite a while ago (they've been around in stores since the 80's), and its the Nokia marketing dept. that had just come up with the idea that these would be a big seller in cell phones...
Actually lately I've seen a toy very similar, but with a cool fix to the whole 'ow my arms hurt from waving this damn stick' problem. I forget where I saw them, Spencer's I believe, but instead ov waving a stick the device spins around on a stick, so you just rotate the stick slowly and you can have the LEDs spin around quite fast. Ummm... ok so my explanation sucks but I'm sure some of you geeks know what I'm trying to see... arg... slashdot+beer=dammit
Ummm... so what exactly do you think you'll enter the message to display with the LEDS with? I would guess probably the phone's 'patheric excuse for a keyboard'...
Actually it was a Cap'n Crunch plastic whistle that came in... you guessed it Cap'n Crunch cereal. A phreaker who became know as.... Captain Crunch found that with a small modification to the whistle it would give 2600hz tone (Which is the origin of the magazine named 2600, btw), which would allow free calls on certain phone systems. This security hole was patched long ago however...
The figures saying Microsoft was taking a loss on each console was very early in the life of the Xbox. As with any technology the manufacturing technology has progressed enough that the production costs are a fraction of what they once were, and presumably, MS is no longer take a large loss, if any at all.
It's interesting to see that in a liberal community such as/. there's still people who find anything sex related 'offensive' on television, sounds like my father, who grew up watching TV in the 50s. I would have thought we've progressed a bit further than that, but then again maybe you are just one of the much older crowd....
"We emailed them via the contact page, which was the same as our own, and heard nothing back," he said. "We then contacted the authority that controls the domain and heard nothing."
"Strangely at the time, we also received several emails that we had stolen some guys website. What is the world coming to?"
Not only is Napster completely deserted by users now, charging for songs will only get rid of those last few poeple. With the the.com crash I'm honestly suprised that these companies are dumb enough to invest even MORE money in what is obviously a dead end venture. Napster is now just a black hole, sucking up any money anyone is willing to put into it.
I'll take anything over K...it's all right for file management, but the rendering is slow and tends to be less than accurate. Anyone know what engine it uses?
All this bitching about MS being against open sourcing...hell, I'm glad Microsoft is against it, if they weren't there'd be a chance of some 14 year old in Kansas actually helping Microsoft come out with some good software. Ph33r...

Cheddar is a sharp cheese. Guess that's what you get for trying to get all technical about cheeses... =P
Commence mass journal viewing...
theirs sorry
No, selling the same product for a profit in one market, and losing money in another market.

Hmmm... Perhaps you should have invested more 'reasearch' time into how to spell 'research'...
Calm down...so he doesn't like KDE. But ya gotta admit, it sure is purdy....
