Get rid of GITMO and prosecute everyone, including the vice president, for what happened at Abu Ghraib.
Guantanamo Bay is a playground compared to most U.S. (and European) prisons. When was the last time someone got AIDS at Gitmo? The only real issue is what to do with non-citizen, non-soldier, extranational prisoners.
And I seriously doubt that perverted sex games/abuse were ever endorsed in any government paper, anywhere. The notion that the vice president will be prosecuted for this is a childish fantasy.
Amazing how they just "start going off" on their own. Nope, no groups of people to blame here. Just the U.S. military, whose mere presence causes cars to spontaneously explode.
Fortunately, the people living in Iraq know better.
If you'll think back a few years, you might remember that it was generally lauded in the Western world prior to 2001 as an example of professional, unbiased journalism in the Arabic world
The same group of people are lauding it, before and after 2001, I would think. The people criticizing now it were probably ignoring it before.
I think you are vastly overestimating the importance of HD to the average consumer. The people who really care about HD have already purchased their XBox 360.
To be fair, supply problems mean that some people who want an Xbox 360 haven't got one yet.
And, although most people have abyssimal TV setups, Microsoft hitching their wagon to the "HD revolution" might have a good side-effect. People who just bought an HDTV, after all, are looking for ways to show it off/make use of it. Plus, advertising HDTV support sounds next-gen-ish, which is great for the hype machine.
Current TV technology is primitive and low-res. Don't you want everyone to upgrade anyways?
Rendering terrain (or not) is a function of the game client and has no effect server-side.
Object collision? Pathing issues? I prefer not falling through the terrain, and having the NPCs navigate properly.
Ground-based MMOs are generally more dense. In any arbitrary scene there will be more objects, more NPCs, and more players with more doodads (armor pieces, weapon models, etc.)
Unfortunately, that trackball is discontinued too.:-( Nobody seems to be interested in making trackballs anymore. Logitech hasn't updated their (horribly cramped) trackball line in a while, and Kensington seems to be stuck in the late 90's design-wise.
Damn mice. Who thought rubbing a potato across your desk was a good idea for a control scheme?
So they can setup a policy that every avatar has to look like a naked 11 year old and it is perfectly legal?
Yes, it would be legal, technically. I think the law that would make it illegal was repealed a few years back (because it made the movie "American Pie" illegal, amongst other things.)
Look, one guy got a warning for advertising a GBLT-friendly guild in general chat. Blizzard has since apologized, and said that their no-sex-talk rule shouldn't have applied in that case. Don't hyperventilate.
And, by the way, there are no religion-based guilds in WoW. The very idea of religous guilds is a practical joke that spread around the internet, with some people taking it seriously.
You can solo right up to the level cap in World of Warcraft. Earn gold and reputation, do profession stuff. Craft equipment, or buy decent stuff at the Auction House.
After the level cap? Well, you can do the PvP battlegrounds. If your server has an even Alliance to Horde ratio, then you can PvP quite a bit. Matches are generally short, and you can earn honor and faction rewards.
Otherwise, Blizzard is adding more solo and 5-man endgame content in the near future. Quests to upgrade armor sets, that kind of thing. And you can always do the big-group stuff on the weekends.
I'm serious - the game indsutry crashing again can't come soon enough. Finally knock some goddamn sense into everyone, and weed out the useless people buying Madden Roster Upgrade 200X every year.
Well, the game industry can't crash as long as everyone keeps buying Madden Roster Upgrade every year. They'd have to stop first.
I have to take issue with your "useless people" crack, though. If you're a big football fan, and get a lot of gameplay hours out of it, then it's probably worth it to spend $50/year to get your roster updates and other incremental improvements. That's a lot of entertainment-for-the-dollar, so to speak.
Look at how much the average MMORPG costs, yearly. $150, give or take.
That "2% of black people" poll finding has been discredited, by the way. The main flaw in that poll being that about 40 black people were interviewed in it. Most actual polls show Bush getting 10-12% from African-Americans, which is what he got in the last two elections. I tried to Google a proper correction link for you, but naturally the net is flooded with references to the erroneous "2%" story.
I mean, conned for 20 years by the same guy? Doug Thompson should have retired in shame. Obviously he is a gullible mark, and if he doesn't name his "sources" I won't believe a word he says.
Previews are always positive, especially for a hot new item such as this. Write something offensive and the Big N doesn't send you a demo unit next time.
That said, I certainly hope the controller works well.
Don't jump the gun. For all you know, the Revolution controller will function like a floaty, laggy air-joystick.
Couldn't stand trying to aim my gun.
It's a bit hard to get used to freelook with a thumbstick. Up the sensitivity, practice, and it gets kinda okay. What you have to remember is that console FPSes are designed to be beatable with such a control setup.
60,000 is pretty huge for a nation-wide survey, especially since it's done monthly. Most surveys you see in the news (presidential approval ratings, for example) are 1,000 to 2,000 people big.
Like when a policeman murders his wife, the Chief of Police should step down, right?

Fantasy. We never promised to rebuild that nation. The CIA lent some assistance, but it's not like the U.S. Army was there or anything.
It simply wouldn't have been feasible during the Cold War anyways.

Well, it's not like they can go and change the rules for American Football.
I'd imagine that most of the "boring" research is privately funded by for-profit companies.

Heathen! MS Trackball Optical for life!
:-(
Unfortunately, that trackball is discontinued too.

Civilization is one of the greatest games of all time, but I'd rather gouge out my eyes than sit there and watch someone play it.
I'm sure many people would feel the same about Eve, watching you travel to some faraway destination, or mining asteroids, or...
Outlaw Volleyball got pretty decent reviews.
For about an hour, I hear. No save feature!

How about "Nuclear Disposal Reactors"
Has a nice ring to it.
So, Japanese gamers are rejecting the Xbox because of its name? I guess people really can be shallow.

Side note: Bush's general popularity has been hovering around 50% lately.
Blizzard doesn't sell WoW gamecards in Europe? That's odd.
I'd recommend just hopping on one of the North American free trials. The trans-atlantic lag isn't bad, supposedly.
Capitol Hill Blue seems to have a recurring problem with anonymous sources.

Erm, you seem to be having an orgasm over that little article.
LOL @ previews.
