Latin America has lots of good shows air on TV and was showing them before anime was common on TV in America. Why do you think so much anime comes with Spanish dubs (including saber marionette j which I believe was shown in Latin/south America on TV?)
fan subbing is pointless now, most groups fan sub the most popular shows, which are often licensed internationally before they air (or was funded by an American anime company) and are released in english a year or 2 after they air in Japan. This is why most of the good fan subbers have gotten out of it (and moved on to legit jobs in the industry) and we are left with a pack of kids that barely know Japanese (and English) making up translations (for example translating 'Mafia kidnapped young kids' as 'Mass Naked Child Events')
Considering the amount of places available to try anime for cheep or free (netflix, more and more going on TV etc) fansubbers should go the way of the dino.
Besides its just cartoons, you can pretty much follow it knowing zilch Japanese. I know about 5 words in Japanese and don't have a problem following raw (aka untranslated) anime.
>Of course, game makers could get around this by making us go through the EULA every time we play ("playing this game constitutes your agreement to the following")
WoW makes you do just that (as do other games of it's nature)
I don't consider one weekend and a Tuesday (after a fubared patch that glitched people) massive downtime. Esp. since they added 3 days to everyone's billing cycle to compensate for it.
I hope they wait until they actually get the current game working, and stop messing up characters with every other update. The patch a few weeks ago killed the servers for 2 days and yesterdays patch mucked up the quest logs of anyone that logged in after the patch, apparently the solution to the quest log problem is "don't log in because we can't fix it if you do" but the warning not to log in hasn't made it to the login screen.
It would also be nice if they could have the servers up for at least 24 hours in a row instead of taking them down at 10am every morn.
It really is too bad they are having these problems because the game is much better than WoW, but I still might make the switch because at least I don't fear logging into WoW
I know Sony had the same policy at times in EQ1, and found it was impossible to enforce.
why is it whenever WoW does something that's already been done (or is being done just as well in other games) it's considered new and innovative? and why do we have to have news stories whenever Blizzard some something that's common (banning hackers, trying to stop ebaying blah blah blah)
i think it's better to modify the UI without having to resort to editing XML. i can't do jack with the UI in WOW unless i mess with the xml but i can in eq2.
Just wait until the next gen of ALX comes out with dual vid cards on a custom mobo, those are going to run 6k to 8K
If people want to see overpriced go to voodoopc.com, they are usually 1000$ more than AW for the same liquid cooled over clocked big Johnson type of pc And usually perform worse.
And I recently priced how much the parts for a 'normal' (non alx which is very overpriced) AW would cost if purchased individually, it came out to around $1800 only $400 less than the system I purchased from AW.
I figured I'd pay the $400 and let someone who knew what they were doing put the system together rather than do it myself.
that was Ultima 5 (which also could perm kill party members if you made a mistake). Ult 4 only had 8 people who could joing the party and 7 slots other than yourself.
It won't be a problem because most major sports games license all of the members of a particular leagues players association. The only time they run into trouble is when a player isn't actually a member and they get used anyways (some sports card makers have run into this and have gotten sued). This is why in madden 2003 the best linebacker on the Washington redskins is only known as Linebacker 56, good ole LaVar Arrington isn't a member of the players association.

funny i don't have to lift a finger to scroll in my CL Zen...

i mena really this entire "Holiday fhtagn." has sucked a major amount of ass

so you wish you had known your friends computer was a piece of junk or he had the settings too high? EQ2 is just as smooth as WoW on my system.
funny i play eq2 on a x800 and havent seen that much stutter (a little in the first week but that's no shock wow was unplayable it's first week)
> Too bad quests don't have any impact on the world. Man, I would love to play a MMOG that incorporated that.
you mean something like a quest to unlock a new playable race? EQ2's got that.
WOTC has a lot of old dnd material available for DL http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downl oads

if you are going to use the x-box as an example at least get the price right.
It's a 150$ system not 300$

which is why it's on a desktop, not a laptop
considering how backlogged AW is i'm guessing the guy it's being shipped too purchased it last spring.

aparently sj games didn't like the direction fallout was going and pulled out.
just do what i do and edit out those channels. Most settop boxes allow you to create a custom list.
they told everyone that their were 2 versions of FOTR comeing out way before the first version came out.
Besides we are only talking 15 bucks or the 'short' version, i've gotten 6 packs that cost more than that.
every theater showing all 3 movies is sold out. If you don't have a tix you'll have to ebay for them (and they are pricey now)
having the main mirror of a slashdoted webpage hosted on a free geocities page = Bad idea.
