looking at their FAQ i see

'soloing is like soloing in the original EQ' (that's pretty much a direct quote BTW). Honestly that's the firs thing that lets me know this game is for a different audience than me (and the majority of people playing MMO's now)

Corpse recovery will be a pain in the ass just like it was in the original eq (hope you keep a second set of great equipment in your bank because you'll need it to get back to your corpse)

    Harvesting will be group focused.

and other things that scream 'THis is EQ with a prettier package'. things that chased away a large number of players (like myself) because it was too much of a pain in the ass and too big of a time comitment.

they can say they are "making a 3rd generation game" but their FAQ tells a different story.

  2. Re:I wouldn't on SOE Station Pass Reviewed · · Score: 1, Troll

Yep Vanguard will take everything bad about eq (forced grouping, long tedious progression, huge time commitment) increase it 10 fold (harvesting and crafting will require a group?!?!) and slap some nice graphics on it.

This is why 'from the original creators of EQ' is a bad thing; they just repeat the same mistakes.

yep eq got ruined when they took out the scope of the world with the PoK. I remember the fun of running from Halas to FP and peoples reaction to someone having a polar bear head for a helm. After PoK anyone could go anywhere, which took the fun out of it.

EQ2 brings back that feeling of travel, i hope they don't ruin it again.

i know a lot of people who tried to move from EQ to EQ2 and went back to eq after 3 months because they didn't like the feeling of 'Starting over'.

They were too used to being level 60/70 whatever the cap is in eq and running around with top of the line stuff and didn't like having to hunt 'yard trash' and trying to figure out what was where once again.

  7. rapturous critical acclaim from fools on Can Hayao Miyazaki Save Disney's Soul? · · Score: 2, Insightful

the rapturous critical acclaim is among critics who don't know jack about Miyazaki and don't have the frame of reference to tell his good works from his bad works. Most critics are going to say it's amazing because they don't want to be seen as 'Dunb' or 'Out of it'

Among people with a clue (for example Roger Ebert who is very knowledgeable about the director and very animation friendly http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic le?AID=/20050609/REVIEWS/50601002/1023) this is an inferior movie when compared to his other works.

p.s I feel Miyazaki is horribly overrated some of his stuff is ok but most of his work leaves me completely cold.

As for the droids not remembering skywalker. C-3P0 has his mind wiped (it's ordered at the end of ep 3) and R2 is smart enough to keep his mouth shut and to stay the hell away from Vader.
